He is talking about bringing a private home game into a casino I believe, not all of a sudden a few guys turning a daily game into a private game.

My thought was that the private game was bringing a home game to casino trying to recruit new players if that is the case I think room would pick up a few of the players from private game when it breaks. And they always do.
I didn't realize that the private game there wasn't that way. What appears to be going on is that a few players determine who can and can't play on a daily basis. It's not the same as 9 guys getting together to have a private game.
I don't understand the benefit to room the way it is now. It appears most days both games break early. I'm sure someone is benefiting.

OK- 1. am glad that you see it more my way than before, and 2. I now understand more of what YOU said- about bringing in a private game to a public cardroom. That would be OK once in a while, and its done all the time, bachelor parties, b-days, celebrations, onetimers, etc.
But this is a formerly public PLO game that is now run at a publicly-licensed facility as a "closed" game. I am glad we agree that it is not a good thing, long-term.

In town, might head here thursday, how are the sng's? Structure any good, fields? Will probably play some cash too if things look good.

Is the PLO still a private game? Used to play it 3-4 times a year while visiting Sanibel.

My best guess would be no. It is off season and action is significantly slower. I've noticed online they've been getting either a 1/2/5 or 2/5/10 PLO game going.

Is tonight, 9/10, high hand night?

anyone been there lately? i am going next month and just checked their live games and noticed they have "2 card, and 3 card" anybody know what these are?

I went a couple months ago tops. 3-card poker is a house spread, but single-player backed game, google is your friend on that one. Two-card wasn't there when I was, but I'd assume it would be the same concept of house spread, single player backed game.

If you have the roll, play the 2/5/10/20/(sometimes 40) PLO game.

It's on and off in slow season. In season it's more common. But if you want a big game, the 1-2-5 PLO and the 2-5-10 PLO and many times 5-10-20 PLO, gets some crazy action. Sent using 2+2 Forums

Played $1/$2 there yesterday. $2 entry fee just to walk in. The lady at the desk to whom I paid the $2 said it's because dog races were going on. Very logical, they have to charge an entry for people to come bet on dog races where the house obviously makes a killing.

The rake on poker was ridiculously high. At $1/$2 it was 10% up to $5 and an additional $2 every hand to fund the hourly high hand bonuses. So for a $50 pot the rake is 14%. The play was indeed atrocious. A guy at the table called raises with J4 and J5.

Welcome to Florida. Everything you described is SOP for Florida poker. Not all the pari-mutuels require an entry fee when you walk in to play poker, but many do. It's all part of the price of playing where J4 offsuit is often considered a worthy starting hand to a raise.

Wanted to play 2/5. Forget if they were only spreading 1/2 and 5/10 or if the 2/5 was maybe one table with a long list, but it was daytime on a Friday and guys playing 5/10 were talking to me outside while we were smoking, bitching about being down $500 or so on the 5/10 after a couple hours. I was laughing in my head, like damn dude, it's that serious? You're playing 5/10, that's one medium pot at worst where I normally play, on 2/5...

100% believable. Last time I played in it there was at least $200k on the table. I only brought $10k because the website had it listed as a 2/5/10 game and I wanted to shortstack a few buyins. In reality it was a mandatory 2/5/10 with a $20 straddle every hand, and a $40 re-straddle at least 50% of the time. I was grossly understacked for the game even after running my first buy-in up to a little over $12k.
