When I was down in Naples, I did not even know about this room until I made the ridiculous drive out to Immakolee and was seriously disappointed! Did not feel safe, or comfortable, but luckily found out that the Naples/Fort Myers Dog Track was like 10 minutes from where I was staying! I played there for the rest of my trip.

You should be fine playing over there as there are decent 1/2 games, and even the 2/5, plus PLO has been popular there as well lately.

I saw something like this when I looked at the Hard Rock. I thought the 2/5 max buy-in was low although the 1/2 was normal:

$1/$2 $100 $300
$2/$5 $200 $600

This is good to know. I was really looking for some of the more obvious but different rules. Naples DT has their rules listed on their site. BTW, straddling is not allowing currently in Atlantic City. This will change at the beginning of July from what I've been told.

Good info. I'll keep this in mind. Looking over the distances it appears that this poker room is closer than the one's you've mentioned. Nothing like a day trip though!

I don't play PLO yet so I have no worries here!

Good to get a 2nd op on Immakolee... I plan to stay far away....

Did you play during the week at all? How's the action on say a Wed night? Do you know if the max buy-in is the same as the Hard Rock posted above?

Thanks to both of you for your replies.

My parents own a house in Estero, just north of Naples, and the kennel club is so much better than Immokalee it is laughable. my only gripes are the admittance fee, trivial couple bucks but just doesn't sit right having to pay ahead to gamble. And I don't like greyhound racing butt that's another topic and neither here nor there. Good luck,I love Florida poker

Wow, I didn't know about the entrance fee. That's surprising. Thanks for the info.

I may or may not make it down there. Much depends on things that are out of my control at the moment....

Only an entrance fee during certain hours on the nights/days the dogs are running, but this is at all Florida dog tracks. I think you are safe now as they typically run during the fall and winter months.

Iirc, there were straddles (2x BB) allowed utg +1 and button, but nowhere else. Someone else can chime in and verify that.

no btn straddles. utg straddle only, and newly implemented double straddle utg+1

I played at this track for the first time this weekend to play the $275 bounty tournament. The play was absolutely ATROCIOUS, even for Florida standards and quite hilarious at times. The dealers were excellent and competent for the most part. They had some strict tournament rules as far as headphones/texting is concerned, but I don't mind that at all.

The structure of the tournament was more than adequate until we hit the 1000/2000 level...It doubled 3 out of the next 4 levels right as we were approaching and in the final table. I felt like another level or two could have been added to allow for more play during those key times and the tournament would have ended around 10 or 11PM even with level additions.

When we hit the final table, things took a weird turn IMO and two things bothered me. When we were on break, a few of the players were colored up and given yellowish chips worth 25k, and they can easily be confused with the $25 greenish/yellow bounty chips that were given out. No announcement was made to make sure that people knew these new chips were in play. I got in a pot vs. a guy that had me covered where I thought I had him covered simply because he had about 300k in chips that I thought were bounties and I thought I was putting him to test for his tournament life. Only on the river did I figure out the chip color difference. They need to either make sure people are aware or tell the players to take the bounties off the table at the final table.

The second and more significant issue I had was that as we were all preparing for the final table, the floor man as he was making his announcements stated verbatim "10% gratuity is customary" WTF?!?!?

I would certainly visit the track again as I think it is very well run, but some red flags were definitely set off by the floormans behaviour and trying to take advantage of less knowledgeable players.

just played a few hours late last night...some of the worst play I have ever seen from both regs and tourists. I was fortunate enough to make the high hand when I turned a straight flush (and had some dude open ship 300 into a 75 pot into me). I agree that it is serious no foldem holdem and they have no regard so stack sizes...people flatting raises with 20BB stacks and 108 and just crazy post flop mistakes.

I may have to find my way back!

2/5 NL games have been great. That's all I can speak for.

I have been playing here more lately. I play just 1-2 PLO there, and 2-5 on occasion. Friday had a nice 5-10 PLO game going that was deep, like 40-50K on the table. I like it better than SKC due to overall nicer room, better games, lower tournament rake. Dealers are overall pretty nice guys/gals too, feels more relaxed in general. When people feel relaxed, they are going to gamble.

last time i was there which was in november, the PLO action was alive and kicking. The 2/5 sometimes plays 2/5/10/20, the min/max was 400-2000. They also had a 1/2 PLO game which i believe was 300 max. if someone has been there more recently and this information is no longer valid pls feel free to correct it

The PLO action is regular at 1-2 and 2-5 the most, both run pretty much everyday. I came in around 730 one night and 1-2PLO was not running, was bummed but it was the first time in maybe a dozen it wasn't running. 2-5 seems like pretty standard play, and the 5-10 plays very deep and appeared to be a few pros mixed in with some wealthy guys I assume with serious $$$ to blow.

Only update I can think of now is that you can buy the button coming back in where a few months ago you couldn't.

Their website does show the current games. I am curious about this room as well because I will be in Naples for a few days in a couple weeks. How is their limit action?

Limit action is non-existent in Florida (except 2/4)

Too bad. It did look like the other night they had both 3/6 and 5/10 limit going strong, but haven't seen either since.

PLO continues to be super popular in this room and runs daily. Your best bet is the live game report which you can access through their website. Right now there is a 2/5/10 and a 2/5/10 must move going.
