I noticed there haven't been any new posts on this thead in almost two months. Has anyone been to Mountaineer since "Black Friday"? Has there been any change in the amount of traffic in the room?
I have put in around 8 sessions since "Black Friday". Haven't noticed an uptick in players. Weekday afternoons have averaged two to four 1/2 tables, and one 2/4 limit game. Weekday nights anywhere from two to six 1/2 tables going. Weekends have been considerably busier!
I was there two weeks ago on a Wednesday night. They were down to one 1/2 table after about 11:30 p.m. It was slow and the action was almost non-existent.
I was here Friday night, Played 1-2 and made a nice profit. At mt table there were 2-3 semi good players, but that was about it. There were 2-3 HUGE fish at the table.
The room had about 12 tables going all night. I left around 2 A.M.
I made a trip to Mountaineer this past Saturday night. It was my first trip there in over a year and a half. I like the new poker room. While it is much smaller than my last trip, it is now at least near everything.
I arrived with a friend around 6:00 PM and they only had 2 2/4 limit games going and 2 1/2 NL games going with no open seats. We waited around 20 minutes before they started another table which filled up rather quickly.
The play at the table was LOL bad pretty much all night. Players were raising flops with TP2K and willing to stack off. I watched so much money being burned it was sick. I ended up down $130 for the night due mostly due to bad luck from 2 hands. (AIPF w KK vs QQ for $235 and lost. Also AIPF with QQ vs AQs for $145 and lost. Both pots heads up vs the same villain who was a hyper donk that would not fold PF.)
Probably the worst play of the night I saw was a player stacking off for $430 with the 9s on a JsTsKs3hQs board. There was $40 in pot prior to the river. The player with the 9s bet $10 OOP on the river into a heads up pot. His villain responded by snap shoving all in for well over $500 into a $50 pot covering Mr. 9s. He thought for about 15 seconds and called. "I can't fold a straight flush" he said watching his $430 stack being pushed to villain. The other player obv had the As.
By the end of the night the poker room was full with close to 12 1/2 NL tables going. The dealer told me that the action is like that pretty much every Saturday night. I guess I will have to make a return trip in the near future.
