Closing I guess? Didn't see any news. Source? Well not like too many people played there anyway, but still a shame.

Sorry for confusion. I did not hear it was closing. With one table running at most times I can't see it staying open for too much longer though. Old Hollister!!

Some friends of mine recently dragged me to mount airy casino resort. I hadn't been there in several years. I found that the poker room had been moved upstairs. I decided to go up and try it out. I was very pleasantly surprised. The room is very nice. The chairs are super comfortable, very much like those at the Borgata. Everyone was very friendly, especially the floor and dealers. I found that the remote location of the room is an asset, because it is quiet and sort of intimate. The play was typical with a mix of talent. Certainly fun. Parking was easy. The diner located off the floor of the casino was very handy. I am not sure what people are looking for when they play in a poker room but I found that I had a relaxing and entertaining and profitable experience and will definitely be going back. Maybe tonight, if these thunderstorms clear. While of course I would prefer to play at the Borgata, this poker room can serve as a good fallback position.

Really???? you must not live near Sands, Parx or any other casino. Who in their right mind would rather go to a casino that has 1 table going, nothing higher than 1/2NL or can't even have food delivered upstairs. SMH!!!

I'm sure I'd like those places also. I have really never met a poker room I didn't like. I'm just saying I had a good time at this one. There were 3 games going and the atmosphere was relaxed and friendly. The game was good. The jokes were good. I don't care how many games are going. I can only play in one.

I decided to take a break from online play and seek some live games. I was going to head to sands, but last minute I headed out towards airy.

The poker room was bumping last night. I showed up at 5ish and stayed to about midnight. Every table was going (although i don't think 2/5 ever got started) and the table where I was at had some serious action.

Made some good moves last night, was impressed to see airy so packed but I suppose the holiday played a huge roll in that.

Id like to check out Parx though, ive never been. I am thinking of playing in the big stax.

I too made a personal appearance last night at Mount Airy Casino Resort. As I walked in I was gratified to encounter Starbucks right in the front lobby. Rocket fuel would not be a problem. I proceeded up the elevator to the smoke free poker parlor and was pleasantly surprised to see that the room was full. Due to its remote location, the only thing I could hear was a pleasant blend of player conversation and the shuffle of the clay chips. Good atmosphere. I purchased 150 blinds of high society, and sat down at a table where I quickly discovered that the players would present no problem whatsoever. When I picked up at 1 AM I discovered that the soft players had failed to fully cooperate and 60 blinds of formerly high society were now in the possession of the mopes. Other than that though, the game was great, the dealers were slowish but pleasant, the floor was friendly and humorous, and I had a damned good time.

Based on this experience, I will be heading back tonight for another lively session.

Played at MA last night. Actually had all 9 tables running, can't remember the last time I saw that. The spade Royal got hit for 4500, kid thought he won like 200 bucks.

Soft play as usual, everyone puts you on QQ+ if you 3bet. Had a great time though.

Too bad they don't have tourneys anymore. Friday morning's tourney was somewhat decent, but from what I've heard it hasn't run in a month now.
Looks like the Sands for my early Friday tourney now.

I am sometimes in this area and played once or twice since the move uupstairs. Would be nice if they had some bigger games. They do nothing to promote room, moved it away from foot traffic. No sports packages and no delivery from diner upstairs.

For the second time this summer, I have stopped here briefly on the way to a vacation place. Not worth doing anymore since room is dead with 2 tables running (midweek) and if there is a list you can end up waiting quite a long time. Although apparantly you can call in

Weekends lately have been pretty good here with lots of tourists coming up. Had the good fortune of being sat with a bachelor party of 8 guys last Saturday. Although the 2/5 game is becoming more and more of a rarity to get off, sadly. Weeknights are hit and miss. Usually 1-3 tables with about half of the players regs. This room is what it is.

I have now been to Mount Airy for 15 sessions since July 4th. It is a nice comfortable and quiet room, and I am enjoying going there. The games are what you would expect. Not a ton of action most of the time. But certainly plenty of opportunities for the creative player.

It's not a place to grow your game, as the competition is nothing like the Borgata. But it is a place to play without the obligation of having to put in 9 hours to earn your room. I can just go, play a couple of hours, or 5 hours, and go home. The 46 minute Wase-assisted drive on I-80 is the nuts when compared to the 135 minute slog to the B.

I will continue going to the Borg for my 4-day all-poker-all-the-time monthly trips, but Mount Airy will fill in nicely for daily purposes.

Sands, Parx & Mt Airy are all equal distance from anyone in North Jersey so Airy is never an option! Complete waste of time unless you're taking the family to Great Wolf Lodge.

Actually from Sussex, Morris, Passaic, and Bergen Counties Mt. Airy is not only a bit closer, but it's the far easier ride. From Succasunna it's 46 minutes, compared with 72 minutes for the Sands. Plus it's easier on the energy and patience. All Route 80. No traffic, once you hit the Pennsylvania border it's 11 minutes to the exit, then 10 minutes over a major secondary road right to the casino. 3 traffic lights, and they're almost always green.

Also the room is non-smoking and isolated from the noisy casino - a huge benefit when you are trying to concentrate and focus.

On Wednesday there were 3 tables going. Since I haven't figured how to multi-table live games, I just played one at a time and it worked perfectly.

Another added advantage: Since there are only 1-3 games on a weeknight, conditions are often dynamic, especially from 12AM-3AM, and you are often playing short, and the players aren't running away from it. They just seem to accept it since it is a nightly reality. Most good players love to play short, but in most big rooms the bad players start looking for the exit or a game change as as soon as the player count is down to 6.

The more I play in this room, the more I like it. I am going to take a nap right now then head out for some Friday night action. At the moment Bravo is showing 4 games, I am sure it will be 6 or 7 games going by 11PM.

Hence why I said if you live in North Jersey that Mt Airy is a waste of time. Of course if you live in Moriis County Airy is closer. This issue has been rehashed over and over. Anyone who's played at Airy since 2010 knows they let it go down the drain. And if you're looking for 5/10, 5/5, 2/5 or mix games tell me what day is good to go to Airy and play then. Straight up garbage!!!!

Bigger stakes is rare in most small card rooms, and Mount Airy doesn't play in the major leagues. Still, for a minor league facility, it will do the job for a 1/2 NL player, which is basically 90% of the poker population.

For 2/5 and 5/10 you have to go elsewhere, and that's fine. When I want to grind 2/5 I do a 4-day trip to the Borgata. But if I'm home and I need a quick fix, I am just saying that Mount Airy is a good option.

And while a feverish action 2/5 game is the nuts, you would be surprised at what kind of ROI is possible in a 1/2 game that frequently goes 6 or 7 handed and doesn't have any really good players. And especially in a setting where you don't have to put up with smokers. Also, on a weeknight, I don't necessarily want to endure the obnoxious and negative older gamblers that populate the bigger rooms. Mt. Airy is a friendly room. The players are mellow and conversational.

You shouldn't go because you don't like it. But I am suggesting that others in northern NJ give it a try for themselves. They might be pleasantly shocked.

Your from Succasunna? I am the next town over. Do you remember when the roxbury police got caught with their "gambling ring" in dover?

I almost never go to airy anymore. I went on the 4th and left up $800 but havn't really been back since. I am a smoker, I don't like that you have to go downstairs for a smoke break. I don't like how you can't order food from the poker room. I don't like how they make you walk through the casino to get to the cage when they have a cage 10ft from the poker room.

I havn't been playing live alot, but the next time I play it will either be at Sands or Borgata.

But I do know what you mean about Airy being so close, its definitely closer than sands and anyone saying parx is about the same distance is absolutely insane and are not from north jersey.

North Jersey meaning Essex & Bergen County and GSP exit 153B. From Cedar Grove I can get to Airy in 1hr 10min, Sands in 1hr 10min, and Parx in maybe 1hr 15min. Parx has the best mix games around and $1000 max buy-in for 2/5. Sands has better ambiance and food court, and Airy has absolutely nothing. I hit BadBeat 2 years ago for $90K after taxes and i still hate the place. I had to meet dealer at a diner to tip him $10K since they don't keep their own tips. Absolute garbage!!!

Yup, Succasunna. So you're in Randolph or Mt. Olive. I know Airy is second or third tier, but it's literally 49 minutes doing the limit, and if I engage the radar detector and the Wase app on my Ipad, I can fly out there in 40 minutes. It's simply an option. Do you know how lucky we are to have ANY casino poker room within 45 minutes? Most of the country would kill to have this access.

Plus we have Borgata. And soon we will have Pokerstars. Then who knows, a huge casino in Rutherford or Jersey City in a few years. And easy access to new casinos in Woodbury or Tuxedo. It's good to live in NJ! Northern NJ is soon to be a poker epicenter.

Craziest 1/2 I've ever seen tonight. When I got there one guy had 1800 in front of him, by 10 PM he was felted. I saw at least 8 hands where it was over 100 to call before the flop after a 3 bet.

There was at least 7K on the table when I left. I was playing in a different 1/2 game then the crazy one, and there was plenty of action at that table too. I cashed for 1200 and felt like I left some out there.

I know there's not going to be a 2/5 (most likely) and I still go there anyway, It's 20 minutes closer than the Sands, I walk right up from the parking lot, so in general, I save an hour by going to Airy.

There were a couple of loose action filled games on Friday also. My 1/2 was 1/2 in name only. It played like a 2/5 with several deep stacks including a $1600 and a couple of $800+/-. The $1600 was a running-great loose passive and I took an iso seat to his left. It was a good night. I'm on an Airy heater lately. I've won 10 sessions in a row since July 20th, 13/15 since July 4th, and am up just over 2K for July.

Of course I am overconfident right now and fixing to go down hard, but while on this heater I am now referring to the casino as my ATM: Airy Teller Machine.

J3d vs 78? 245 flop with a 6 on the turn and a Qh on the river?
Was that you?
