I really don't really see the extra travel expense worth it to travel to Sands to play 1/2 except for the $20 drop. Even though MA has a majority of the same faces in the few games that do run they are still very soft. Very few of them have made any noticeable improvements in their game and the ones who have are very obvious.

All true, however it doesn't mean we wouldn't like to see the room filled with occasional new faces and some player appreciation.

Can I have an Amen from the choir, please?

Just close it already! You know they will. 1 table during the week or 3 tables on a weekend aren't making them any money. Just a matter of time before they bring in more slots. And how many times have you sat down where half the table has less than $100 in front of them or rebuys for $60. C'mon, that's not poker!!! BBJ split is a joke and dealers not keeping their own tips is the biggest insult ever. This place is wrong on so many levels!!!

Please explain how closing the room will benefit you. Or, how keeping the room open is hurting you. Either way, I'm curious.

Of course but lets get real now There would have to be a major change in upper management from them to ever make any improvements to bring new life to the room.

I just think the casino would be better off and more profitable putting in more slots or table games. Tell me I'm wrong, that 1 game or 2 is bringing in money. They have single handily done everything they can to destroy the room and drive everyone away.

I doubt it there are plenty of slots many which are vacant almost all the time especially upstairs. I don't see why you would want the room to close? There's no benefit for anyone in that. You really care about the casinos slot revenue?

The last time I was at Mt. Airy I think there were maybe five people playing slots. It was Friday night. I doubt adding slots to that area would noticeably affect Mt. Airy's profit.

If they were gonna close it it would've happened awhile ago. I took a quick glance of MA poker revenue on the state site seems like they churn a consistent figure each month

I would just like to see it close so the idiots that own Mt Airy can see what a mistake they've made. That is the only way they will learn and maybe relaunch the poker room into something that resembles REAL poker. They've pretty much taken away all the perks, moved the room into a corner and said here's your poker room with 1 table and if you don't like then screw you. I actually hate everything about Mt Airy and hope the whole place goes bust. Its the ownership that is the problem!

But how would closing it in any way make them see what mistake they've made? If the current owners/management team wanted a great poker room they would have made the improvements and ran the promotions to do so. It is what it is and they're content with being the worst option in the area. Even so, if you live close by and want to play 1/2 with the occasional 2/5 on the weekends it's a fair option. The $0.42 an hour was nice if you played there on a regular basis, I used to just let it accumulate and try to convert it to cash running it through a slot machine. However it's virtually meaningless for people who don't play there often and wouldn't be a deciding factor on weather or not to play a few hours of poker. Most poker comps in the area are pretty crappy except for the MSPD triple comps on 2/5 game promotions.

I personally find the room to be more comfortable with less tables running the few times I visit now adays. When the room is full with it's current cramped conditions now and even when it was downstairs, it was quite uncomfortable until you finally got the right seat change so you weren't playing bumper chairs all session long.

I guess, I'm in north Jersey and live equal distances from Parx, Sands & Airy so makes no difference to me. I used to play consistently at Airy from the Summer 2010 until Feb 2011 and it's just a shame to see what's happened to the poker room while every other poker room has flourished. The owners treat their employees like crap so I kind of hope for their business to fold do new ownership can take over and make it a good situation for everyone. It doesn't take a brain surgeon to figure out how to run a successful poker room. It's that they don't care that pisses me off. Why even have a poker room if you're gonna ignore the regulars and make it the worst room ever. It didn't have to be this way! I hope the IRS audits them and finds something shady.

I don't think the dealers splitting tips is the "owners treating their employees like crap", actually with the current traffic in the room I would think that is beneficial for them on most days. It is true that upper management does not seem to care about creating a room that would bring in more players but that is not the case with people who run the room on a daily basis. Unfortunately they are not the ones with the check book and they do their best with what they are given. I go their on a regular basis and I think I am treated very well and if you ever really frequented the room you would know there is a lot of good people who work there who have families and bills to pay and it would not be good for them if that room did close.

It's great that this thread has got some life back into it. We are all entitled to our opinions & there is no need for stone throwing within this thread, which includes name calling and threats.

I think it goes without saying; but I'll say it anyway. The staff are good people as we see them come & go. Some dealers are better than others; and as a regular, I do call many of staff and players friends.

I can't agree with you more, the dealers are nice and go their best. Some of the dealers I've known since 2010 have moved on to better gigs at other casinos. Poker isn't going to save the world or the economy and it isn't like thousands of people are going to be on the street because it closed like an auto factory in Detroit. I just want the greedy owners who own Airy to realize they've made a mistake ignoring customer complaints & requests. They are the ones to blame and pushed most regulars away and could have had a really great room. And until they close it, even for a short period then relaunch it, nothing will ever change.

I am spending a few days in Basking Ridge NJ....1 hour from this room. Is it worth the drive if I am looking for LHE?

No. 2-4 Limit Hold'em goes sometimes on the weekends. It's usually only 1 game too.

went for the first time in a long time last night and had a very pleasant experience. action was decent. good amount of money on the tables. six 1-2 games running at midnight. dealers were all good and friendly. and i like that they keep a help yourself soda fountain and coffee pot there for the late hours. don't have to wait for a waitress (or tip... i know... i'm cheap). i'll probably swing by again in the coming weeks.

I realize at this point you've already been to the room but to clarify for those who haven't. The help your self section is only open after the poker room waitress is off for the night. Near 11pm/midnight on the weekdays later on weekends.

I was wondering that myself since I didnt see anyone using it Saturday. Sad to report the 2/5 game never went Saturday night with only 5 on the list by 1am.

I don't think it's gone off on Friday or Saturday night for the last 2 weeks. Problem seemed to be no one wanting to move from the 1/2 games. I'm 99% sure I was there but I get my days mixed up.
