Ok, just got back from Mt. Airy. Here's a few observations:
1. Room is too small for that many tables. I kept getting bumped into by the player behind me at the next table and dealers kept making me move to get to their seat when they moved (not their fault). I would also have to say that the room was too loud. Probably because the room is so small. The podium is in the middle of the room, this is a definate mistake. They should move it to the front just outside the room and that would help free up alot of space as well as keep the line to sign in outside.
2. Floor was pretty good. It was very busy and they did a good job of keeping the lists moving. I didn't like that they were chip running as well. They should use dealers that aren't working a table to run chips. The floor has enough things to worry about other than bringing players their chips.
3. Game selection. There were eight 1-2nl, one 2-4, one 3-6, and one 1-5 stud game running. There was a long list of interest in a 2-5 nl but it never got called becasue they couldn't break down a table. I ended up playing stud since it was the shortest wait. I put my name on the 1-2 list, but my name disappeared of the list.
4. Dealers. Dealers were OK. But as the only stud table, there were some mistakes (more than at the holdem tables, I'm sure). One dealer always forgot to burn. Several dealers put out flops after the opening round of betting. One dealer dealt 7th street face up. Nothing catastrohic, and I'm sure with time this will improve.
All in all, I liked the room. There's no way they could run tournaments in the same room, there's just not enough space. There's a few tweaks that could be done to make it better in my opinion, but I will definately visit there again...probably later this week!!
