Will be in Montreal for the first time in a few weeks (May 26-30). Where's the best place to place 2/5 NL? Good action anywhere on the weekends?

Hey Blink - the 888Live Local event is later than you're planning to be here.

On weekends there should be lots of action both at Playground and the Casino. If you're going to visit both places that's great, but if you only have time for one, I would suggest Playground be your choice. I'm biased, of course, but there is just more action, better promos, and really great games on weekends here. And an incomparable environment to play.

It's marginally more difficult to get here from downtown - the difference is tiny, esp with construction on the highway leading to the Cas - but it's more than worth it just for the comped food and drink.

Play at Casino du Montreal; do not play at Playground, their rake is WAY too high and it's probably going to be out of the way for you anyway. You can get to the casino directly via the Metro and 777 bus or it's a $20 cab from downtown.

Is there anyone with $1~$2k CAD cash who would want skrill (usd or euro) or stars (usd/euro)?

Doing this for my brother. You would meet in the playground casino to trade. Let me know!

I withdrew everything from Skrill and Stars, but if your brother runs up that C$2K and wants to exchange it back to US dollars, I'm willing to exchange my U$ for C$.

Hey,

Considering a visit to Montreal for a month or so just to play poker and have a vacation.

Where would be best to stay - preferably somewhere with a lot to do but easy access to poker rooms. I wont have car. Would happily stay in a hostel so as more chance to meet people.

Thanks

Would like some help from you locals to this area. I am the new ambassador for an small but growing online poker site, and they wish to send me on some tours of the world to engage with local players and generate new customers. Right now, the owner would like to try and get more Canadian players on the site. We have been very successful so far with generating new players through poker clubs. Not the kind of public poker rooms that are usually discussed in this thread, but private clubs where groups of friends get together to play tournaments and cash games. The kind of clubs that often run competitions to send 1 or more of their members to the WSOP.

If you are in such a club, please reach out to me here by PM, by messaging me on my website (www.FossilManPoker.com/contact.html), by hitting me up on twitter (@FossilMan), or by posting in this thread (least preferred method). We would love to learn more about your club, and see if we can arrange for me to visit and play with your group for a day. We might also be able to arrange some of my FossilMan Poker Training as part of the visit.

Even if not in this area, if you are in or know about a club that might be interested, I'd appreciate it if you would provide me with the info.

Thanks for reading this post, and looking forward to visiting your club!

Cheers, Greg Raymer (FossilMan)

Hopefully this doesn't piss off the community or trying to hijack this thread. I'm a comedian who also plays a ton of poker but I'm headlining Comedy Works this weekend (March 8, 9 & 10).

I'd love the support if you can come on out, if you are a fan of uncensored/Dirty comedy, you will enjoy my stuff (hopefully).

The number to the club is 514 503 8121 and if you mention the promo code: Dirty. they will give you $5 off

Here is a recent article about my stand up, naming my headline set the #1 show in 2017 by a local arts/culture publication in Toronto

Is playground rake really that bad? What is it compared toother places around town?

Its higher then the casino but it offers things like free drinks and food. By far it is the best place in Canada for tournaments - one of the best in North America.

Cash games its good when playing 2/5nl or above

Rake evens out at 2/5?

Trying to decide between trip here or Commerce for a Tournament series this Summer

Knowing where Commerce is and Playground is, I’d say Playground for non-poker reasons. If you’ve never been to Mtl in the summer, you need to experience the party of the non-stop festivals downtown. And you can shuttle between DT and PG in 30 minutes or less. You can’t say that about Commerce and anywhere else you’d like to be in the LA region.

And don’t listen to any Mtl’er who says that traffic is bad because of the contant construction. It is bad, but they don’t know LA traffic!

Hey guys, anyone stayed near Playground poker room in Motel Rustik? Going alone for 8 days in October, main goal will be to play 6 days of cash game and to explore Montreal 2 days. Pros/cons?

Hey guys,

I'm from Europe but have been to the US a lot in the past to grind out some cash game. I'm looking for something outside the US where it's possible to put in some volume daily and where the traffic is decent. I mainly play 2/5, 5/10 nl and 5/5 plo. Is Montreal my best option in Canada? How's the rake there compared to other places? Any input is greatly appreciated, thanks.

Never stayed there but your plan seems solid. Make sure you check the road conditions when you visit Montreal. There is a lot of construction on the way downtown, and they also occasionally close down some of the lanes on the bridge, so a 30 minute trip could take 2 hours.

Playground is easily one of the top 5 rooms in North America. The rake is high, but you do get free food and the traffic is always good. 5/5 NL and 5/5 PLO run pretty regularly, and if you call ahead, you rarely have to wait long for a seat.
