lol, you don't read the foxwoods thread? stakes - 1/2nl; description - caucasian, brown hair, tall, slightly fashionista. i'm not really that hard to find among a sea of dudes and dealers.

when you guys go down is it usually just drive down ,play, drive back? how often do you get a room and do the floors ever hook you up with a good deal late at night?

if you want a room, better to ask earlier than later - they are constantly at risk of running out of rooms. hotel often ends up booked full.

oh, damn. I figured if they made it to 2-3 am with available rooms they would be giving them away cheap because some money is better than no money to the casino, but I guess I underestimated it.

Anybody know if there is a poker rate for the hotel? I think I overheard a floor person talking to someone saying it was $75 for a weeknight room? Didn't say how many hours or how to get it.

Any help is appreciated.

I was there last night and asked the floor for a room. It's the first time I asked. He said comps are based on your hours of play, and that they look for at least 6 hours of poker player per week. I probably average that over several months, but I certainly don't play every week for 6 hours. But he still called and got me a room for May 12 at the $79+tax rate. I'm not sure if that's good or bad compared to the regular rates.

And to answer DannyKGB question, I drive to MS and home and it's an hour - just long enough to make me hate the drive. I'm in the New Haven area.

Wow, that's awesome (for us, not you I'm sure) that it was a 2+2er this happened to. I heard this story the day after it happed and like DQPaulie said the stories were all over the place.

The story I remember best (because I wanted it to be true) is that it was some drunk chick who typically rails her BF - you know they type, the GF sits there texting behind her man for 8 hours while he grinds 1/2. BF finally gives her a $60 buy-in and she hits the BBJ by accident. Then the arrest and for all anyone knew you were still in jail.

The 2/5 and 5/10 @ the sun are great. Maybe 1 or 2 decent poker players at the table. In all my times playing I think I've met maybe 5 guys I'd consider decent and no one who I thought was great or had to fear. Like any other live games its passive w/out much 3 betting. Neither are tough games to beat as long as you got some good fundamentals

I liked the place, I'm not a far drive from Turning Stone...this place is Turning Stone on steriods.

The poker room was nice, tables are spaced out, like the chairs and the tables, tv's all over the place...i only played 1/2 and the games seemed juicy...if everything i read in here about 1/2 and 2/5 stays the same then I might be a regular soon.

Oh and I crushed the interview, got the internship with the Sun . Not 100% sure if I'm taking it yet though. I don't mean to turn this into a thread about the surrounding area but do you guys have any recommendations on where to look for apartments for the summer?

I'm trying to find something furnished but can't find anything directly close to the Mohegan Sun. I'm willing to drive any distance up to 20 minutes away, preferably closer to the city of Hartford than away from it. I'm assuming the best places to look are Norwich/New London/Groton/Waterford?

Ledyard, Gales Ferry, Montville and Uncasville are all options and a little closer. I would just stay out of New London and Norwich.

FYI the NAPT that was there is being televised starting next Monday May 3 at 10 on ESPN 2. Funny part is at least where I live, if you are on the guide and hit info of program it says Shootout from Mashantucket CT. That is Foxwods not Mohegan.

He owns alot of apts & spends his days in the Casino playing the rents.....All the Dealers will know who he is;

No way you will find Apts for 400. Even the scummy ones start at like 650.

Mr. Mossy next time your in the area there is a place in Preston on Rt 2A, back road that connects Mohegan Sun with Rt 2 toward FW. I remember looking yrs ago but it wasnt what I wanted. Not sure of the name but its something like Robertas Apmts. Its only a few aptms itself and i think a couple are furnished if I recall. There is a sign out front that says for rent. Number isnt listed in the book and google didnt tell much, maybe easier to just stop by one day. If you were coming from FW toward the Sun you would pass a bar called Double Down on your left. Apartments are up a little bit on the right.

can you elaborate on why new london and norwich are places to be avoided? my friend is starting a job at electric boat, and I'm going to help him apt hunt. don't know much about the eastern CT area aside from the casinos though.
