When do you find to be the best time/days to play at MS or FW?

I was there on Saturday night into Sunday morning last weekend. I typically hear people talk about the best time to play (at casinos in general, LV, AC, LA) being midnight to 6am. I got there at 9pm thinking I'd have a wait to get onto a 2/4 LHE table. Got right on though. The juiciest time was from 9pm-12am. After midnight there was a significant drop off in fish and I soon found myself at 3 handed table with regs around 2am, none of which wanted to break the table. Thankfully we got merged with other full tables which quickly became shorthanded too after about 3:30am. By 5am it was again short handed and all regs. I was up early on in the evening but eventually busted out around 6am and just went home.

I find the games usually turn into zombie fests after like 2 AM. the thing is at FW and MS they stop serving way earlier than vegas and other places so there arent as many drunks playing post 2AM the best times I find there are the times most rec. players play - weekends from noon- about 1-2 am there are exceptions of coarse.

I'm going back up tonight a little earlier. Probably be there at 8pm and leaving at 12am or 1am. If anyone is playing lowly 2/4 LHE I'll be wearing a gray long sleeve shirt and tan pants. Probably my typical bright orange fleece jacket too.

Are there other places to stay around the Mohegan Sun which are not quite so expensive as the hotel itself? I want to come down for this upcoming poker tournament but I don't want to pay the hotel prices. If you don't have a car and you use the bus to get down there where can I stay that is affordable and accessible to the casino? Are there any options?

There is a Microtel and a Best Western Cristata Inn, that I believe are the closest. Less then a five minute drive. Also ther will be tourney rates.

"the room rates are $99 Sunday through Thursday and $149 Friday and Saturday. " Posted by MoheganTM, you could call and find out what ya need to get those rates.

^^^^ Yeah but I won't have a car, so is this really an option? Can I walk there or no? Keep in mind that I will take the bus and not have an automobile.

don't got to Mohegan much, but i know the area a bit. it's just not easy to stay anywhere near there w/out the cah. if u wanna play + stay it's gonna have to be their room rates. walking is out. long, dark rural roads. bit different from NY/AC

Both Microtel and Best Western provide a shuttle to and from MS. They don't run 24 hours a day though. You might want to call to check the hours.

The last couple of nights they have gone back to running the 3/6 level with the Turtle chips, instead of the 4/8 game.

Mohegan Sun will offer 2/4, 3/6, 5/10, 6/12 and higher Limit Hold'em from now on. Would be nice if people played low limit mixed or even pineapple games.

TL; DR notes:
Mr. Absentminded sits down, can’t find anything in his wallet, bleeds all over the chips and table, then c-blocks me from a hot Asian chick, I leave down $300.

MS 2/4 LHE game. I sit down and there are a couple of open seats. Eventually this guy, who I will refer to as Mr. Absentminded, who seems a bit slow staggers over and sits down in seat 9. He demands one of us in the 4-7 seats change with him because he has poor vision. Well, his vision is so poor he can't see seat 4 is open. So he moves over there. Thus begins a 20 minute saga that does not include a single hand played.

He has a George Costanza wallet. It is busting at the seams. He opens it first to get money. Random receipts, papers, cards, etc fly everywhere. No money though. Eventually money is found and "changing $100" is announced. Chips are pushed his way as he argues over whether the dealer made an error in chips. Mind you we are sitting at the table closet to the cage. I can turn around in my 6 seat and wheel my chair over to the cage to reload.

Now there is every conceivable credit card, business card, casino card, club card you can imagine spread all over the table as he attempts to find the only card he needs - the MS players club card. Card is found finally and he is swiped in. We are ready to play some pokerz again!

Now the really fun part begins. Cards begin to be dealt. "WAIT!" I hear from across the table. In the 1 seat sits Paula Deen's long lost twin sister pointing her finger and displaying a horrified "EWWWW" face. She is sitting directly across from the 4 seat, Mr. Absentminded. Mr. Absentminded has managed to begin bleeding from his finger. This is pointed out to the dealer and "FLOOR!" is called. Floor comes over rolling eyes and tells Mr. Absentminded to sit out until they can track down a Band-Aid for him. He stand ups and of course argues with the floor about the whole thing. "What do you think, I have AIDS!?!?!"

At this point no one wants to play with Mr. Absentminded, nor do they want his chips in play. Floor supervisors are called over and they deicide, as if this happens routinely, they will have the chips washed. Terrific!

A Band-Aid is procured, but not before Ms. Deen points again to his seat and says "Oh my God, there is blood on the table!" Now a tiny bit of hell breaks loose. Floors are back. Supervisors are called back. All look at the streak of red splashed across the area directly in front of his chips. People scatter from the table. The Floors are no longer happy. They announce the game will be moved to a new table in the back.

OK, now we move to the new table, people take their time getting over there. Game finally gets shuffled in about 5-10 minutes later. The 5 seat has abandoned me and I now have no buffer. Mr. Absentminded takes the opportunity to sit right next to me. Now normally I would love to be in position on him because I'm assuming I'm going to take all his money. However, the bloody stump on his left hand is now rubbing up against me.

Cards are dealt and Mr. Absentminded STILL is playing with his god-forsaken wallet on the table. What a shock, he has lost his license and proceeds to remove everything from his wallet in a vein attempt to find it. While he is doing this, seat 4 is filled by a new player, Attractive Asian Chick. She would have sat next to me if Mr. Absentminded just stayed put. Eventually Mr. Absentminded gets up from this seat and disappears trying to find the license. He randomly comes back for a few hands and then disappears again, constantly missing his blinds which I now have to pick up. He of course argues each time that he doesn't have to post, or post both big and small, etc.

I eventually leave that table and sit at another one. That is a story for another time, but all I can say is I am glad this is not 1850 because there would have been a shootout at the table without question. It was a busy Saturday night at the MS and I finally left at 2am tired, cold, hungry, alone, and dejected down $300.

Good story, although that's some pretty liberal use of the term 'c-blocking.'

Also another FYI for anyone who plays at MS frequently, in the wake of a few highly-publicized and tragic drunken driving fatalities over the past couple weeks, the CT police are out in full force - 'roving DUI patrols' - I was followed halfway home Sat night, trying to assure myself that the 4 Jack and Cokes I'd had over the past few hours would put me well under the .08 limit...

I was at Foxwoods this weekend and one of the dealers there told me that a few years back, Mohegan Sun had to close their poker room because some bad things were going on there. I know it has reopened now but Im just curious if anyone knows what thes 'bad things' were? just curious
