Of course this won't happen. I would set the line at around May 25th.

2. With the status period ending on March 31st, what do you expect to occur with those people who were close to reaching their next tier level but could not due to the shutdown?
I was about 75 points away from maintaining my Leap status when they shut it down. I would have easily made it if they had stayed open 3 more days (with the double status day that was coming up).

Just got my new status card in the mail today. They dropped me down to Ignite.

Maybe they'll change it later, but we'll see.

Foxwoods extended their period another 2 months and upgraded most people who were close to the next level. There will be a lot of pissed off players if Mohegan doesn't do something similar.

Message posted on their website :

"MOMENTUM STATUS RESET MESSAGE
Thank you for your continued patience with us as we all navigate this challenging time. Many of our valued guests have expressed interest in our Momentum status reset process and the steps we have taken to address our unprecedented situation.

The reset was successfully completed as scheduled on Wednesday, April 1, 2020.

In addition to our standard procedures, we also took the following steps to address the missed days in our status period due to the unforeseen closure of the property.
  • We adjusted the status point thresholds down for each status level to account for the amount of days within the status window that were missed due to the property closure.
  • We reviewed status point earnings in the time prior to our closure, and applied the impact of additional earnings that would have processed on the scheduled status point multiplier days.
    • In regards to status level, this has been addressed in the status levels awarded on Wednesday, April 1st.
    • In regards to Momentum Achievement Awards, this will be addressed upon our re-opening on an individual basis.
  • We will apply similar measures for our upcoming status rollover in October to account for the missed opportunities in the current six-month status period.
  • We did our best to accommodate each guest with the status level they were most closely aligned with. If you have any questions on your current status level, please reach out to us.

Thank you for your continued loyalty to Mohegan Sun. We can’t wait to welcome you back when it is safe to do so!"

It looks like they are prorating the status goal for each level and then making a second adjustment. You are probably 10-15 points shy of Leap by a quick calculation. I'm sure based on the circumstances you can reach out to them to state your case. They shouldn't be too stingy when they reopen this summer and begging for people to visit.

I can’t see them opening up until after May 20th unless they decide to go against the governors orders. Restaurant / Bar ban was extended till at least that date.

Mohegan is making statements two weeks at a time. They aren't considering opening on April 30th, that is when they will make their next decision, and then a statement.

Side note, I don't think any of these casinos will be opening their poker rooms when they reopen. They'll get their slots up and going to bring in some cash, weeks before the table games open fully.

They will probably do something like 3 to a BJ / RO table and 3 to each side of a craps table. Open up every other slot machine. Poker could be the last thing they open.

Poker isn't going to open up until the social distancing recommendation goes away. Being six feet away means have at least 2 chairs empty between players and dealer. Poker players aren't going to play 3 handed. That will require a vaccination which is at best 18 months away from being widely available. It isn't just a matter of figuring out what it is. You have to make enough of it to go around. Whichever country comes up with it first is going to give it to their citizens first, before selling it to the rest of the world.

Same goes for bars, concerts, restaurants etc?

The state may end up setting up guidelines such as limited seating and cutting the max capacity in half. At least that will get restaurant owners some money

Define “fully operational?”

Lamont spoke yesterday about getting people back to work within the next 2 months with distancing guidelines. I agree with the poster who said poker would be the last of the table games to re-start and do so with a much different landscape (short-handed and/or very few games running) maybe later in the summer. I may be overly optimistic though.

First I am not saying what will be done is best, right or even safe but...

Poker will not open 3, 4, or even 5 handed.
Poker will be open before 18 months.
A vaccine will be out in at least limited doses before 18 months from now.
Poker will be open before a widely available vaccine exists.
Poker will open this year
A vaccine will be widely available next year. At least some companies are ramping up production of vaccines only in phase 1 testing well before approval and well well long before they normally would.

Grand reopening of the Mohegan Sun is one week from now? Anyone going?

They haven't extended the closure yet past April 30th.

BTW, Mohegan Sun Arena is currently an active COVID-19 testing facility.

Looking like June at the earliest!

They aren’t doing testing there, it’s the Mohegan Sun Arena in the Poconos that opened up to testing. They were going to use the new convention center for hospital overflow but they haven’t needed it yet. They are doing testing at Backus hospital in Norwich for those needing it in the area of the casinos.
