I guess I could be tempted to drive down for one of the events. I'd have to join the group.

The Mohegan tournaments really are a dream and even with the horrible structures and moderately high rake, and 10 handed (ugh) they can be extremely profitable for anyone who looks at a Nash chart and basic pre-flop hand opening structures.

In the first 3-5 levels, if you have 10 people at the table, 6 of them will be limping 70% of their range and raising the top 3%.

3-betting might as well be back in 2001 where if you have QQ and get 3-bet, you're only up against AA or KK. I see flat calls with AKs all the time, and got super nit rolled by some guy who had AQs and a 5bb stack. He just couldn't believe I was going all in with my stack size (which was 13bb, what????) and was just moaning and sweating and finally cry called.

Learn some short stack play and you have an instant edge over 70% of the field. Learn pre flop opening ranges and short stack strategy and you're in the top 10% of players in the pool.
yikes, will take note lol

Does anybody know where I can get information on tournament fees. I can’t seem to find this online and most of the tournaments listed on the schedule online don’t beak it down to buy-in/fee. Thanks in advance.

Can anyone explain to me how to get that “number” down? Daily achievement # maybe?
Mine is currently at 40 which I’ve been told is impossible to hit. Literally impossible.

The short of it is that it’s based on your daily point average with most recent activity weighed the greatest. If you play short sessions up to 3-4 hours without using your card for other gaming you will see that number decrease significantly in one of the next two 3-month windows. It is definitely an art and not a science as you need to possess the discipline to pull your card out of Bravo after a few hours if you were playing a long session one day.

Is it calculated using a daily number of hours logged or could I play a couple 3-4 hour sessions?

I’ve found most effective in the past were a couple 3-4 hour sessions if 1/2 or 2-3 hours if 2/5. Just avoid long sessions of earning greater than 10-12 pts a session for optimal results.

Ended up in Mohegan this weekend to have dinner with a friend, first time I've been here since 2015. The new poker room is really boring and quiet and too far away from anything interesting. The single $2/$5 going (I played Sunday night from around 11pm to around 1am) was really soft

The entire Casino of the Wind is gone, right? Did they build a wall where the entrance used to be?

IMO, it's much more likely for random foot traffic to see the poker room now than before. Proximity to the Race Book is a good thing. Casino of the Wind was no mans land except for people who went there specifically for poker or Margaritaville.

And, yes. there is a wall where the entrance used to be, much like there was before Wind was added.

Yeah, a lot of people would say the same thing, except about the old location stashed in the very back of a casino inside a casino. They used to have the good video poker machines back there too but then they moved them, leaving only that weird open nightclub next to the water sculpture (and the poker room).

Any idea what they are doing with what used to be Casino of the Wind? Did Margaritaville move somewhere else?

We ate at the Jordan's sports bar, BTW. Buffalo Meatball app was amazing, ribeye steak was garbage. Vanilla Cinammon Old Fashioned was was too sweet.

Margaritaville is gone from Mohegan. I've heard something about the space where Wind was being leased to another business entity, but nothing specific. As far as I know, there are no plans for the casino itself to put anything else in that space, but I could be wrong.

Yes I agree it’s now a better poker location for a multitude of reasons. Higher random foot traffic outside of room, closer proximity to more food options resulting in both ease as well as less time player is away from table to eat, and if the tribes and the state ever reach an agreement on sports betting the poker room location will greatly benefit.

I was there on Friday during the Fargo tournament. The widespread clapping every time someone was knocked out was irritating. Who wants to be applauded when they bust? I’d be tempted to punch someone in the face for doing that

FARGO is literally a group that goes out to have fun. Sometimes they splash the pot with little rubber fishies and random acts that bring fun back to poker again. Just saying Mohegan Sun (Uncasville, CT)
