They have half of the Hall of Lost Tribes curtained off with work currently being done. I don't know if they are keeping other half open for slots until work is completed on that area or if it will only be that area for poker. Downsizing the poker room wouldn't surprise me at all with the increased competition and apparent little desire to compete for business with promotions.

The bar is still on the side of the curtain that hasn't yet been touched.

According to one dealer tonight, it's going to be next year. Sometime.

I just figure that one day I'll show up and the room won't be there anymore, and I'll wander around and find it.

Sounds like you have a similar plan as they do

Is the poker room typically busier than usual on the evening before Thanksgiving?

Yes, a Wednesday night when Thursday is a non-work day is typically busier than a Wednesday night when Thursday IS a work day. Games run much later too similar to a Friday night.

Thanks! Thinking of possibly making a trip up from NYC. Haven't been to Mohegan in a really long time.

How early do you need to be in the poker room to play the pink chip HORSE game on Thursdays? Can you call in at 8ish and then show up at 10 when game opens? Any info on this game would be appreciated.

I played in that game 2 weeks ago, I called in at 7 am and there was 5 names on the list already the game usually starts around 9 o'clock or so.
Good entertaining game with a mixture of solid regs and happy to be playing newbies.
Just wish it was higher stakes.

They don't wait till there's a big list. They start at 9:00ish 3 or 4 handed to make sure they get a game.

Hall of Lost Tribes- area past bar is all draped off, and then...I counted 23 tables with just felt, no padding or chairs yet. Will try to post pics later.

Only 23!
I thought they were supposed to keep the same table amount.
Did it look like there was room for more tables or was the room laid out and looking full?

Looks like they could add more tables, but they’ve rarely had more than 25 cash games running as of late. Interesting to see how they handle tournaments if 23 tables are the max.

The only days a tournament draws a significant amount of players at Mohegan is the $10k guarantee on Wednesdays and maybe the Saturday morning. Neither event would result in an overflow since Wed gets maybe 12 cash games max and Sat doesn't get busy until later in the afternoon at which point tournament tables will begin breaking. 23 is tight right now but once you factor in the Encore effect in June you'd likely never see it being an issue.

Lol. As if Mohegan gives a **** about running good tournaments. It's been about 5 years since they actually put any effort into them.

I didn't say anything about good tournaments lol. They'll probably just eliminate or change start times of certain ones, like the Saturday 5pm. 23-25 is probably the right number for the room at this point due to the Twin River/MGM/Encore effect.
