It's a decision-less game.

If you know how to place a chip on a piece of felt in front of you then you know how to play baccarat.

Maybe it's all those players "taking notes" at the table that is intimidating to him.

Judging from Bond movies I watched when I was 10 I figured it just took a brilliant 007esque mind to play it optimally.

Money on felt eh? I might be able to handle that. Mohegan Sun (Uncasville, CT)

Yeah, I always laugh at all the note taking and trend analysis at the table.

The game Bond plays is "chemin de fer", which is basically baccarat but with the decision to take a 3rd card or not. Casino baccarat is the optimal version of that game, the taking of the 3rd card is automatic based on optimal strategy... so everyone IS James Bond when playing it, lol.

Might want to bet Player in baccarat. Not much difference in edge. Could be “clumsy” trying to pay $2.50 in commision. I suspect the House will not give you the option to bet Banker. Bottom line? Just say screw it & bet Player in Baccarat. GL!

Interesting discussion here. Apparently lowest edge does not equal largest EV.

Bet the field?

I forgot about that. I remember reading that thread years ago. And I remember doing the math myself and confirming that's correct.

You can always try. The poker room is allocated x-number of "poker rate rooms" each night that doesn't necessarily correlate to whether the hotel is sold out. Your best bet obviously is to book well ahead of time especially if you are looking for a Fri/Sat night. I've gotten a weekend room at the $127 rate on a night one time when hotel was sold out when I reserved a month ahead of time. Don't expect to show up on a Saturday and get a poker rate room that night as they have most likely allocated their rooms to other players.

So, what's the deal with the daily food voucher? A rep told me it would automatically added to my account. If unused will the funds be rescinded?

That’s pretty much the deal. You qualify on a monthly basis, but the deal is that it’s effective a full month after you qualify for it (i.e. qualify by playing in January and get the comp during March). Just tell the cashier where you eat that you have a poker comp. If you have other promos on your card, make sure you tell them to use the poker comp FIRST. If you don’t use the comp on a particular day, it does NOT roll over to the next day.

Where exactly can dining rewards and players perks be spent? Players perks anywhere momentum dollars are accepted and dining on food only? Can you spend dining rewards at the trading posts to get drinks/candy/snacks foods?

The poker coupon is a food coupon only and can only be spent where food is served. I am not sure if Starbucks or Ben&Jerry's accepts it (never tried either of those places). I know that Dylan's Candy does NOT accept it, and I know that the Arena concession stands DO accept it. Additionally, all of the places that send a server into the poker room accept it as well. I am not sure about the trading posts, but my guess would be that they are NOT.

Funny hand at $2/$5 at 4am this past Sat morning. Extremely drunk guy has rebought a few times & has been on rage tilt since being asked by another player (& then the dealer / floor) to stop licking his fingers before touching his cards (which caused him to drop a few f bombs & get more warnings). 70ish Chinese woman nervously grabbing green chips makes it $90 UTG (w @ $390 behind). Drunk guy two to her left says “**** it” & shoves all-in for @ $340. She says call before anyone else can act. Not-drunk guy in BB calls. On the flop she takes a while to nervously put in last $140 & BB calls. She of course has A’s & they hold (drunk guy had AJ & BB didn’t show). Epilogue: Drunk guy storms off but comes back & re-buys a few hands later. Next time Chinese lady is UTG she raises to $25. Drunk guy & one other person calls. Flop is 9s84. She bets $40, drunk guy raises to $100, other caller folds, & she calls after a slight pause. Turn is 3s. She checks & drunk guy shoves for @ $375. She takes a while, counts out the chips, & eventually calls. Her TsTc holds vs. his Ad9d. He leaves for good & she says “These people think I’m stupid? I know what blockers are.”

Mohegan will be a ghost town at 9am but games begin to ramp up around 11am. My advice for a 9am arrival would be to get on the call-in list around 8:15am so you are in the top 10 for the next game to be called or top of the list worst case.

Thanks guys...Looks like I’ll head to Foxwoods for the AM. I’m planning on staying the night nearby and want to check out Mohegan too. What’s room in you’re opinion is more profitable? Does the 2/5 get crazy? Should I hit one of the tourneys?

How often does the 1-2 PLO game run here? Was there last night and heard it announced.

What is the best spot at mohegan to post up for a few hours in the afternoon to drink and watch the masters on Saturday?

Also - I will be in the mix Saturday late night playing 2-5 NL. Hope to see some of you there

Micheal Jordan's Sports bar is close to the room. Bow and Arrow has some wing specials, it's over by the buffet. I love Aroogas sports bar, ton of nice TVs over there. It's in the winter parking lot, a stand alone building.

The best spot for this inside the casino IMO is Tom's Urban located on the second floor around the corner from the hotel check-in across from the Mohegan Sun arena. Excellent lighting, vibrant atmosphere, craft beers and a creative drink list with plenty of bar seating in front of big screens.
