5/10 has been poppin' here.

Been a great game each of the last two weeks tons of chips flying. I got it going last night around midnight and it's still going. Much better place to play 5/10 than twin rivers or fw due to the comps, wide range of buyins allows, and lack of high stakes regs. I encourage everyone to come on down and join the action.

Last night a guy showed up with 10k in a sandwich bag. Literally thought he was gonna pull a hoagie out of it. Needless to say it was a great game with tons of action. Let's #makemohegangreatagain.

What is min-max for 5/10. Also, how often does the 5/5 run and what is min-max?

500-2500. 5/5 never runs.

In CT for work for a couple months and would like to play some casual 1-2 to take my mind off afore-mentioned work. MS appears to be the closest casino for me, but it sounds like Foxwoods is more popular. Is that worth a slightly longer drive? How are Sundays at either? Thanks!

1/2 is fine at both, especially on weekends. If you want to play higher than 1/2, or play PLO, FW probably offers more choices.

1-2 is fine at both casinos. If you are here for a couple months I'd definitely try both as they are not far from each other. I like Mohegan more. Players seem friendlier and it's a more comfortable place to play.

I will second that. MS is substantially cleaner, nicer looking and friendlier. I have not played a single session at FW where there was not either a threat of physical violence between other players or bitchy 1hr+ arguments between regs at my table or surrounding tables (I swear it's not me). In addition, the chairs, tables and room just literally stink of bodies and desperation. So, if you just want 1/2 or 1/1, stick with MS. I don't think the extra rewards (free rooms, shows etc) are worth playing in an awful environment.

Wow, that's a tough assessment of FW.

If I was a rec looking to play low stakes, I agree that MS is probably going to be a more comfortable environment. That said, while there are inevitably arguments in a poker room, I have rarely seen bona fide threats of physical violence at either place and the only long (never an hour) arguments, are more likely between cranky players playing O8 or stud.

If you're in the area for a few sessions, give both a try because you might just plain like FW more. Plus, you'll get promotional offers from two places which seems +ev.

At FW you will never have someone eating a sloppy cheeseburger at your table. Can't say the same about MS.

Style of play might also be a factor. My perception is that there is greater potential to run it up at FW and that the play at MS is a little nitty in the low stakes games. Inevitably at FW there will be people who bust out of tournaments at the 1/2 tables and they might be steaming. That's not as regular an occurrence at MS.

Finally, FW is typically a more diverse crowd (to the extent that can be in New England), it that matters to you.

Sorry, that's been my experience. FW is like the perfect meeting place for M*******s and New Yorkers with personality disorders. And festooned in a sad teal decor from the '90s to boot!

I don't know what you mean by diversity, but FW certainly has equal shares of people on parole and probation. Last time it was the recently released 400lb, white, 2/5 player throwing gang signs, yelling about Dominican women and sweating through his Sox cap as he berated his fellow players. There are more people with homemade facial tattoos at FW, if that's your thing.

You sound like you like to stereotype and judge people.

Sounds like you would be better off at a klan rally than a poker table

Yep, making fun of white guys is what makes me a KKK member. The other guy saying that FW has more "diversity" is ok, I guess.

I do like to observe people and categorize them by their explicit behaviors which includes clothing, loudness, tattoos that rule out most jobs, personality issues, ill-conceived hair-dos (like a skullet), lack of hygiene, etc. At the same time, I'm reading clothing labels (and how many items have casino logos), tan lines, where you pull your money from, how it's organized, how many other regs greet you by name, how quickly you ask for a seat change button, what your drink order is, if you tip, and more. I suggest you do the same, in addition to making good decisions.

That said, the "scum of the earth" factor at FW is about 48% higher than MS. That's judgmental, I suppose, but highly scientific and relevant to the question asked about where to play.

You clearly judge people by their looks I guess that works well for your poker game

Yes, I do judge people by how they CHOOSE to appear. But let me give you an example of why the people at FW are scum and judge people by things over which they have no control.

I was playing a few months ago during the Monday madness promo and we had two physically disabled players at the table (likely had something like Parkinson's or stroke). The other players were almost yelling at them to "hurry up" and mocking them when they left. They were even conspiring to steal one's seat when he busted so he couldn't come back. When I say "scum of the earth" I'm not talking about skin color or nationality (you should hear them berate Asian players if they speak anything other than perfect English), I'm talking about manifest character flaws that make being near many of these players difficult to say the least.

Hey guys this is the Mohegan Sun thread. If you want to do a casino comparison take it to the regional thread which covers all casinos in the, well, region. (New England Regional Discussion thread)

Point taken.

foxwoods has more serious poker players overall, I think better tournament schedule. both have some shady characters, but all casinos have that

Hey kids, im a foxwoods reg and have been for 8 years, they are stupidly re-doing the comp system and removing the black card rewards that we regs work hard to keep. I was wondering if someone could explain the rackback system MS has?

I am a reg 2/5 player, also quickly how good and often does 2/5 run? multi tables of it during weekends?

Thanks

2-5 players earn 3 points an hour, which can be used anywhere on the property at $1 for 1 point ratio. 70 hours of play in any one month will earn you a daily $10 food comp in the second following month, that is play 70 hours in October then in December you will have the food comp. You can go to their website to view the various card levels. You won't get any free rooms on a regular basis, I play about once a week and occasionally get a Sunday through Thursday night but never a weekend.

2-5 goes everyday but during weekday afternoons it is often only 1 table. Weekends usually have 3 or 4 running sometimes more.

Does Mohegan offer any extra bonus points in the same vein as Foxwoods, i.e. earn 25/30 points for swiping your card at the kiosk?

does anyone know if there will be an untick in poker traffic on Monday/Columbus day? I normally go to Foxwoods during the week to play 2/5 but MS is closer. Also looking to start early - like 10am/11am.
