Last Sunday & Monday, my wife and I stayed at FW since Mohegan's rates were through the roof(we hadn't stayed at either place for a couple of years). We drove over on Monday for the day. She played slots, I played in the pink chip game.

Mid week she checked online. We now have free room offers.

Well, yeah. You don't get free room offers for playing 5 hours of poker no matter how long you've been away.

Back between 2002-2004, we used to go down a lot. In early 2003 pretty much every week, I was between jobs and regularly played in the Wednesday night rebut tournament, so she built up enough regular slot play to get a lot of free rooms. The offers stayed pretty good (not always free, but often pretty cheap) up until about 3 years ago, then they just stopped.

This is not necessarily true. I have family/friends from neighboring states (and another in FL) who have received weeknight free room offers each of the past two months. Each haven't made more than 2 weekend trips to Mohegan Sun in the previous year and they only played poker.

I play at Mohegan every so often (typically 1/1 or 1/2, purely recreational), and I have a question out of curiosity: how are bad beat jackpots paid out?

I've been at a table where a kid hit the high hand for the 3 hour period and won $1500, and after getting his info and the paperwork squared away, the floor brought over 15 black chips for him, so not a check and no taxes taken out on the spot or anything.

So, let's say it's a 7-handed table and the bad beat jackpot is $100k. Loser of the hand gets $50k, winner gets $25k, and the remaining players get $5k each. How does that work? I can't imagine the floor giving $50k in chips. Do they cut a check or give cash, and do they take taxes out? And if you want to leave the dealer a $1k tip, do you let the floor know so they can take it out?

I know hitting the BBJ is a pipe dream, but I'd like to be aware of protocol in case I'm ever lucky enough. Thanks!

So now that Foxwoods has bumped up it's 1/2 (and 2/5) rewards to 2pts/hr. will Mohegan bump theirs up in response?!! I hope so!

I played at Mohegan quite a few times last year, and it seemed the 1/1 tables were 1pt/hr and the 1/2 tables were 2pts/hr. Not sure what the 2/5 tables are. I wouldn't mind if they bump it up though, as I plan to play there more this year.

Bad beat is paid out anyway you want it, cash, chips, or check. Tips are just handed to the dealer.

2/5 at MS is 3pts/hour .

No tax forms or anything? I'd imagine if you take it in chips you could cash them out bit by bit throughout the casino to avoid any taxes, correct?

Next step is hitting it I guess.

Over $5k you're getting a 1099-G, whether they give it to you in chips, cash, or guacamole.

Thanks, I wasn't sure what the number was.

And I hate guacamole. I'll take it in gold fever sauce, though.
