MS staff

Thanks for talking to the 2-5NL players about the HHJ. I came out on the losing end of the vote, but thats OK. Its cool that you guys take suggestions, listen to the players, and are not afraid to try some different things (like the pink game). You still got my business. I will be there sometime this weekend, hopefully to donate in the pink game. Not sure when I will be there, because I also want to check out the Haunted graveyard at Lake Compounce.

What's the best way to get from Lake Compounce (Bristol CT) to Mohegan ?

Thank you!

Rt. 6 east to Rt. 2 in Hartford
Rt. 2 east to I-395 in Norwich
I-395 south to Rt. 2a (exit 79a) in Uncasville
Rt. 2a to Mohegan (exit 2)
Should take about an hour.

Most regulars who log long hours do not like it, but it does bring in more action, helps us to sustain games longer and keeps us on a level playing field business wise. I prefer not to do any jackpots, but the industry has made it the norm.

As for removing the HHJ from the 2-5, I have considered it but still feel that the percentage of players who want it is greater than those who do not. I will change the amount at which we do collect the jackpot $1 though. Most likely we will take it at $60 on 2-5NL.

Now, my latest dilema- with another local room offering a player funded BBJ, which do players prefer? HHJ or BBJ? So far the HHJ players (lower limit) are well in the lead. The 2-5 players seem to be leaning towards the BBJ.

Bruce.

Well, if I had to choose one, I guess it would be the BBJ.

And what about spreading 4-8 limit in addition to or instead of the 3-6? I like playing at MS, but if I want to play 4-8 then I have to go to "another local room."

BTW, thanks a lot for taking the time to explain the business side of this decision on this forum. I understand what you're saying. I think it would be great if you could raise the hourly points for the regulars (or make it easier ot increase your points/hour) to offset the drain of the jackpots, though.

I've been playing more at the other cardroom lately, but I'll definitely try to swing back by MS more often.

I'm the opposite. I like them having 3-6, I just wish they didn't have 2-4 competing with it.

I use to leave in Southington. If you are not familiar with local roads in S,
then :
1. go to I84W(towards Waterbury) then take exit (first or second) to R691.
2. Exit 11 from I691 to I91N towards Hartford.
3. Take Exit 25 to Root CT3N. (it will be one more exit to CT3 #23? before that. Do not take it - little bit weired)
4. Cross the river and pay attention next 5 minutes . Take exit to CT-2 E towards Norwich.
5. Follow R2 E and take exit 28S to R395 south. ( CT2E longest part, about 34 miles.
6. In about 3-5 minutes Take exit 79 ( you will see MS signs)
7. Take exit 2 to MS boulevard.

At avg speed of 70-75 it will take you 1 hour exactly.
Not shortest way( about 70+ miles) but easiest and fastest. Most likely GPS and Yahoo maps will give you the same direction.

GL at MS. Most likely I will come for 2/5 or 5/10 session Saturday night.

Lattimer and Toothpicker
Thanks for the directions

My GPS ( which normally is right on the money ) was sending me
RT 84 to 72 to 9 to 95 to 395 -- which looked a little stange to me
Rte 2 looks like a more direct route

Thanks again for the help

New Rule - no talking about the hand when heads up?

I played yesterday at MS (1/2 NL), and the dealer told us there was a new rule. No talking about the hand or your cards when heads up. He joked that you could talk about the weather, but not the hand. After the hand was over, we asked him to explain a little bit. He said the new rule was recently put in place because of all of the problems that they have had.

Does this take some of the fun out of poker? Does it just make it easier for the casino?

The HHJ is not running (Yet?) between 5pm and 10am Friday/Saturday and Saturday/Sunday. I saw a few 4-8 weekend regulars from the 'Woods poke their heads into Mohegan Saturday evening. One I know said he came over specifically to avoid the extra rake. Unfortunately for him there were only one 3-6 and a couple of 2-4 games going.

They had a 7.50-15 list most of the night but I don't think the game got going.

I really hope this was an exception and not the actual rule. If you can't turn your cards up when heads up or talk to you opponent heads up, then thats just ridiculous. Has anyone heard likewise, or talk to any floor in regards to this?

Have actually never played at Mohegan. Only play at Foxwoods, try to go up whenever i can (about an hour away in MA) and I really like Foxwoods. Ive played in Florida, and Ive played in Atlantic City, and Foxwoods is by far the best and most professional (staff wise and how things are run, not necessarily the players) poker room ive played at.

Convince me why I should go to Mohegan?

Room is more comfortable with better lighting. Don't feel like your playing in someones basement. Dealers keep their own tips so are a little more motivated to keep the game flowing and get more hands out. As for the staff, both places are professional. But decide for yourself. Mohegan is only about 15 minutes away. Not that far to stop by and check it out.

^^^This.

If you are winning player, you want more hands per hour and MS accomplishes that. From what I've read though, FW has better comps for players.

EVERYONE WHO PLAYS POKER AT MOHEGAN SUN

There is now a keno and racebook booth within the poker room, located on the opposite side of the room of the bathrooms (near the tournament tables).

A great way to win in Keno:

4-Spot Quick Pick (or pick your own) for 10 games POWER PLAY

that ticket will cost you $15.

if you hit all 4(in one of those 10 games), thats $200. (you also get paid for 3/4)

-------
That ticket will take about an hour to play; you can purchase it before you sit and play and you can just check it before you leave. It could mean the difference between goin home busto or having the possibility to go home with $200+.

Thanks for the info, but if I really thought that playing keno could make the difference between a winning or a losing session, then I wouldn' t bother playing poker in the first place.

I dont get the basement feeling playing at foxwoods, it's actually really comfortable in the poker room. Although a friend of mine has played at Mohegan and he says the poker room is very nice. The whole casino I heard is something to see.

Which restaurants exactly. None of them are that great. Eye candy is good at Mohegans for sure but the food in all of the restaurants is average at best.

Everything at Michael Jordan's and the "trash ribs" at Big Bubba's BBQ are both pretty good in my experience.

I admire the person that decided that they would mix the one casino game where a good player can be a long term winner with the game that has the worst edge for a player.

Frankly, someone would be better off playing the slots than Keno.
