Last night all I saw was 2-4 and 3-6. I could be wrong but I thought I did see a mix game in the 6-12 range last night too.
As I walked in there was a group at the podium signing in. 3 older folks >60. One couple and their out-of-towner friend. They were discussing having lost a ton at the slots and wanted to give poker a try. After all the penny-ante home games are so much fun. I asked the floor to seat me where ever those three were going.
Luckily for me they opened up a new 2-4 limit table and I followed right behind them. They sat in seats 4, 5, 6 and I got 7 - YES! As you can imagine it worked out perfectly for me. They were sheepish and timid at first - after all this wasn't penny-ante poker - it was high stakes $2/$4. But they loosened right up. The worst of them was in the 6 seat and was winning with ATC consistently. I picked my spots and pounced. She was NOT happy with my constant raises and re-raises. Their play was so donkishly transparent. I got the evil eyes from the two old biddies every time I barreled down on them. The whole table was pissed at seat 6 for her moronic call down to the river to hit two pair, straights or flushes, but I kept encouraging her to stay and play the same way - LUCK WAS WITH HER TONIGHT! She bought it and her two friends were HHJ chasers anyway who kept reloading. I got them to stay until 10pm and took about $100 from them - not a huge poker windfall, but for 2-4 I was happy. The rest of the table got a little taste too and kept some good money on the table to push back and forth.
On top of this there were a bunch of HHJ chasers which have made the 2-4 game profitable now.
