Last night all I saw was 2-4 and 3-6. I could be wrong but I thought I did see a mix game in the 6-12 range last night too.

As I walked in there was a group at the podium signing in. 3 older folks >60. One couple and their out-of-towner friend. They were discussing having lost a ton at the slots and wanted to give poker a try. After all the penny-ante home games are so much fun. I asked the floor to seat me where ever those three were going.

Luckily for me they opened up a new 2-4 limit table and I followed right behind them. They sat in seats 4, 5, 6 and I got 7 - YES! As you can imagine it worked out perfectly for me. They were sheepish and timid at first - after all this wasn't penny-ante poker - it was high stakes $2/$4. But they loosened right up. The worst of them was in the 6 seat and was winning with ATC consistently. I picked my spots and pounced. She was NOT happy with my constant raises and re-raises. Their play was so donkishly transparent. I got the evil eyes from the two old biddies every time I barreled down on them. The whole table was pissed at seat 6 for her moronic call down to the river to hit two pair, straights or flushes, but I kept encouraging her to stay and play the same way - LUCK WAS WITH HER TONIGHT! She bought it and her two friends were HHJ chasers anyway who kept reloading. I got them to stay until 10pm and took about $100 from them - not a huge poker windfall, but for 2-4 I was happy. The rest of the table got a little taste too and kept some good money on the table to push back and forth.

On top of this there were a bunch of HHJ chasers which have made the 2-4 game profitable now.

What do people at Mohegan typically buy in for at 2/4 limit?

Seems like it is usually either $40 or $100.

What DQPaulie said based on my experience. After they go through that it's another $40, then $20, then whatever change they have in their pockets. Last night I saw an older guy take 5 singles out of his pocket and put it behind his $20 in red left on the table. You know, in case there's a big pot.

Will be there tonight.

Last Sunday at 2-5NL we were talking about what we would rather do than play 2-4:

The list was:

Shoot myself in the head
Hang myself
Gouge my eyes out

I'm thinking of getting a safety box at the cage... anyone have one? I would imagine that my money/chips would be safe there. Any horror stories?

I've been to MS three times in less than two weeks, 2 sundays and last night. It seems like a) a lot more of former FW players are there now and b) a lot more people who would normally play 5-10 have stepped down.

aaronk, you are right about many of the 5/10 nl players migrating to 2/5...to me the 1,000 max hasn't changed the way the game plays enough to warrant moving down...

on another note, Bruce (the poker room manager and a great guy) has ordered the UFC 100 pay per view for tonight! Poor poor frank mir

My question is other than playing $2/$4 for the comp, ( same as @1/$2 NL 1 point per hr ) Why would you want to raise & chase 7 to 8 callers to the River with ur Aces?
Hopefully MS will raise the comp on the $1/$2 NL games a bit more??

People at the 2-5 table were saying that there has been some talk about raising the hourly to $3 at 2-5 from $2.. I have no idea if this will happen or whether any other limits will change.

aaron - people at 2/5 also started a talk that phil ivey was sponsored by MS and would be playing 1/2 and 2/5 there.

Summary: don't trust what most of those morans have to say.

MS regs, what is the deal with two 2/5 must-move games? You get into one, then move to the next then into the main game? Seemed really stupid to me yesterday, as opposed to having one must-move and three main games.

Played at the sun Friday night / Saturday.....little 1-2 NL action. Profitable 13 hour session, really fun place. I liked most of the dealers, especially Beth and a couple others I forget the names of.

Couple really interesting hands / opponents....anyone else there between Friday 8pm to Saturday 9am?

I was there a little bit later from like 2:30pm Saturday. I played in a great 2/5 game and won a good amount.

Normally a Foxwoods player, but headed to Mohegan for the first time tomorrow for a little 1-2 NL. Anyone gonna be there?

Went and played 1/2 last night @ Mohegan with a few of my buddies. I stacked my buddy on the last hand of the night. He raised UTG to 4!?!? and I raised MP KK to 12 CO calls buddy calls. flop Kd4s2d, buddy checks i check CO bets 10 buddy calls I shove CO folds QQ buddy calls w/24 drawing dead on turn when the 8 hits, I laugh at buddy when he tables hand. Held the HHJP when I won approx $32 w Quad 10's on a 1094r 10 9 board and the guy calls my 11 bet on the river w/ a 9. It held up until Quad Kings hit @ 9 and then ROYAL FLUSH 30 minutes before it was over.
My buddy who I felted w the 24 was at the table where the Royal hit and when it hit he stood over and did a throat slashing motion and said it's over. Me and another friend walked over there thinking he hit it, but he was just being a donkey lol.
I've always played at Foxwoods, but as I am focusing more on work and less strictly playing Poker the Mohegan room is a much more comfortable place to go play poker. I normally play 2/5 and up but when I go with my buddies Id rather stack them or get stacked by them at 1/2 its more fun for the ride home.

Hey Jason, I was playing one of the 2/5 games up top...I don't remember seeing you in my game (if your avatar is you). Were you in the game where those guys got in a screaming match about flashing cards to their friends? That was great! Even the floor had difficulty calming them down...

I'd love to know what happened right after that if you were at that table.

FWIW, $1k buy-in for 2/5 is mint...game was amazing all day.

I was not up in on that center raised area. I was at the table closest to the back of the room. I don't remember guys showing cards but I only played for like 3 hours.

That is me in the avatar but I was wearing a black Phillies hat and I keep it low so my eyes are more covered.

I agree that the 1k buy-in is pretty nice. It opens up the game and it was playing more like a 5/5 or 5/10 game. I still only bought in for $500 but ran super well for +3.2BI

I am so dissappointed they raised that min buy in. You haven't short-stacked nlhe until you can' make a pot-sized bet when it's your turn to act before the flop.

I understand your predicament, but I must say that I am happier. I really hate calling off $100 preflop to short stackers. No offense

Man, that game was crazy too...it was a "must-move" that was feeding our table when players would bust. Every guy that came up had at least 1k in chips and when asked, said they bought in for only $500. There must have been some real ATM's at your table.
