Looser games at Mohegan Sun or Foxwoods @ 2-5? Is it looser at 1-2?

What's the best way to get to Mohegan fom NYC without a car?

also, is there a cheap hotel nearby that I can shuttle from and to the casino? I want to visit during the tournaments this summer but don't want to pay more than 100/weekday.

Best way is either taking the Greyhound bus from Penn Station or taking the train into New Haven and then taking a bus right at Union Station.

When I used the search function and entered "mohegan sun poker rate" and selected "show posts," I found the following in this very same thread:

loving mohegan more and more with every trip-

took a midweek trip up to CT and stayed at Mohegan one night and Fox the 2nd-

mohegan suites are - I like the overall atmosphere of the casino and non casino areas...seems much "younger" than foxwoods in general

Gwen Stephanie of No Doubt tapped me on my shoulder asking to get by me in line at ben and jerrys

played some late night 1/2 and made a few dollars

ran ok in the 12 tourney...got down there late so had some chips blinded off...ran to like 18-20th place...think there was 55 people and top prize was about $1600

after that i was tilting and spewed some chips at a 1/2 -

made up for it all at foxwoods though

will be back out this weekend and then def back for a few of the summer tourney events

When MS decided to start the HHJ drop I was not pleased with the extra lost off the table - I play 2/4 LHE mostly. However, last night I think I might have changed my mind. I was sitting at a table full of people ALL looking to hit the lotto. That was the only reason they were there - to chase and hit the straight and royal flushes. I had my best night ever. It was so good I couldn't get off the table to go to 3/6 LHE or 1/2 NL.

Was there today game was good the fish generally buy in for 300, not too many people buyin for the full 1K as should be expected. Myself i come in for 800 unless a player i think is pretty bad has 1K. But games were good all week in my opinion.

I was there from Sat-->Sun. When I started at the must move table, I was the only person that bought in for $1k. When I was moved to the main game, stack sizes suggested that not many people buy in for $1k. However, I think a lot more people buy in for $500ish than before, so I like the new min/max levels.

I enjoyed playing 2-5 at the Mohegan Sun more than Foxwoods this past weekend. Dealers and floor seemed friendlier. At Foxwoods the employees seemed miserable. Do they pool the tips at Mohegan sun like Foxwoods?

Dealers keep their own tips at Mohegan

Wonder if anyone was at my 2-5 table on sunday afternoon. table in the back under the a/c which made it about 50 degrees, everyone was complaining, even me who is NEVER cold. Anyway, i'm in the 2 seat and next to me is a 30's ish black guy with an english type accent. Kind of gregarious, but obviously not a skilled player. So we get in this hand, i raise AQ to 20, he flats as well as another player. Flop Qxx, i check, he bets about 60, middle guys folds, i call. At this point i'm sure he's got Qx and thinks he's ahead. Turns comes another brick, chk, bet 100, i push in for like 250 ish. He tanks and calls with QT. River comes a T. Ok, i got unlucky but i played it well, trapped him for all his chips to a 3 outer. So when the T comes he leaps up from his seat claps his hands and screams, "YES! Guns Blazing!" in his euro accent. This of course puts me on monkey tilt, i mumbling something about his suck out and he laughs at me really loud and says something about how he can't fold etc.. which has some truth in it but jesus christ why is it people that play horribly and suck out on me celebrate like their gods gift to poker. If it was me that had QT i would have been silent and felt pretty bad about the way i played. Anyway, he's got like 1k at this point, i buy in for another 500, never get anything going and of course when i leave at 8pm he's down to like $150 which was obviously going to happen...... As far as the room, it's much nicer than foxwoods, but i gotta say, it's tucked in the back of the casino with NO SIGN out front, wtf? I had to get up close to see it was the actual poker room. Not very good for attracting the casual casino patron. As far as being superior to FW, i'd say it's a draw. FW has more degens while MS had more rich 40's guys with nice watches. If you want to play limit, MS has 2-4 and 3-6, which is more than ******ed. I wish someone would spread a 15-30 game as the 3/6 chips structure is the way to go.... .what else.... the 75-150 S.O.E game at FW looked amazing, i wish i had the roll to sit. Lots of rich older guys giving away money. i actually wanted to play some limit at FW, but they only had 1 10-20 game going and the 10-20 stud games looked like a grump-fest and i didn't feel like dealing with the surly seniors. They had several 20-40 games and i probably should have sat, but it's a little above my comfort zone and i just hate the 4/8 chips structure as it really slows the game down.

They're in the process of enclosing the room, to keep out the smoke and the noise. Hopefully they will be putting up a sign on the new glass that can be seen more clearly.

IMO - given the location, there will be no foot traffic or casual casino players just happening into the room without specifically looking for it. So a sign, and wall or no wall isn't going to help. Unless they put it right in the center of the casino, casual players aren't going to stumble into it. It would be helpful for the first time player seeking out the room.

Are you saying use the $3 chips in a 15-30 game? If so, why not just use $5 chips? $2 and $3 chips are only good for the low stakes limit games.

They had 212 entrants, plus alternates that were turned away as they were only able to host 20 tables

just thought it was cool mohegan has a thread.

Was on the east coast a couple weeks ago and decided to check mohegans new (for me anyway) poker room. I actually liked it alot. Obv not as big as foxwoods and the LHE selection was pitiful (3/6 only??) but i like the 3/6 horse game, that was fun, and seemed to have good 1/2NL action.
I liked the smaller "comfortable" setting, and the chairs were probably the nicest i have ever seen in a cardroom.

anyway, thats my 2 cents . . .

And for those who have never eaten at Pepe's; I would recommend a White Clam Pizza with Mozz, Bacon and Garlic.

Having a Pepe's in house may draw over some mid-limit fish. Specifically me. I used to order a pie for pickup at their New Haven location on my way home from the woods.
