Anyone who has played at Mohegan for awhile have any insight as to the best deals to use your points on? At Foxwoods the gift cards are very popular as are the iPods since they are priced the same as the outside world. What are the best deals at Mohegan?

fp, not sure about point deals as i tend to use them for an occasional treat at the clam shak and the mexican restaurant...

as for getting this thread going, i play every saturday and this week the room wasn't quite as packed - still busy but not packed though a couple guys playing 5/10 nl with me tried to get a room nearby w/ no luck (microtel, best western, and one other in oakdale were completely booked)...

good news re: the 5/10 game as it's been running every friday, saturday, and sunday...may be playing more during the week so does anyone know how many 2/5 tables run during the day? night?

p.s i love the room and the dealers and floor have become top notch...

I keep putting feelers out every few weeks. I love the room but they took away my 3/6 LHE game. Any chance thats back yet? I loved that damn game and it was worth the little extra drive to get there for it

On a tournament front - the Sit-n-Go's seem extremely disorganized from my experience. There is no pre-registration, so you simply put your name down on the interest list and wait for them to call your name. They usually wait until there are 15-20 names on the list before starting because they are not sure how many people are actually going to play. Something that can be easily fixed with some sort of pre-reg system.

I put my name down for a $100 + 20 sng, and when they finally called my name (about 30 minutes) I went to the table and there were about 15 people standing around waiting to sit while the pit boss had a hand-written list of initials that were supposed to be there. After about 20 minutes of arguing, mostly by one guy who said his name was called but that the pit boss said was #11 on the list, we finally had 10 people sitting. The guy then asked the Pit Boss to make sure all of our initials were on the list, so we all had to go around saying our initials again. I've never seen a pit boss be so lost and be pushed around like that.

After all of the arguing, somebody said that they didn't like their seat, and that we should have a draw. The pit boss look baffled, but agreed that we should do it.

After the re-seating process (about 5 minutes), we then had to fill out a registration form, which took some time for each player because the dealer had to write down their license information. Now sitting for about 35 minutes, without the registration being halfway done, the guy that was arguing before came by the table again and I offered him my seat for $150 (a $30 premium) - which he accepted. He gave me the $150 and I promptly left the room, not realizing that I still hadn't paid for the tournament.

I was walking through the casino later when I realized I ripped the guy off and when I went back (this is now 50 minutes from when my initials were called), and he was standing up with all of his money spread out on the table arguing with the Pit Boss that he paid me, with the game still not started. I gave him the $120 he was owed, he thanked me for being honest, and I left the room.

cliff notes: Terrible organization of the SnG's, but wound up making $30 profit without playing a single hand.

Starting to like it alot more-

My top complaints before were the tables (no cup holders) and the huge graphics on the cards...

They now have cup holders but the cards are still big...other than that it has progressed well...

different tpe of action than the woods....i'll hit mohegan on a Sunday whereas fri night I'm prob at Foxwoods-

and to the poster above- how long ago was that? I didnt experience any of that in the last 2 sngs i played

One month ago. You are saying you pre-registered and began playing within minutes of sitting down?

If so, they have changed their methods within the last month.

Yes - maybe the system was down?

I was actually playing a cash game and they announced that they needed a couple more- I sent my fiance over to the window with my card and $ and she came back with a receipt-

When they called that the game was full I went over to the table and played-

Not all the tables have cup holders. And the cards do suck.

Otherwise, I like the room and the casino more than Foxwoods for the LLNL games I play.

The SNG registration has changed, you now just go up to the window and buy in for the next SNG. No more interest list on the sign up board. When the 10 seats are sold and a table becomes available they run start it for those with tickets. Been this way for a week or two.

I thought they had put the cup holders on all the tables now, maybe a few on the tables that get used for the weekend rush are the old style. All of the main tables have cup holders now.

1/2 games pretty similar to fw switching tables for selection a little less organized

Well all the tables do indeed have cup holders, and as of yesterday the large index cards are gone. All of the live tables had the regular small index cards, well except for the one 1-5 stud table that requested the big index.

I played there last night and was glad they changed their cards. Probably helped me smash 1/2 game for over $700 in like 2-3 hours and I was completely hammered.

Can anyone tell me what type of limit action they get? Are there any midlimit games spread? HE, O8, Stud or Stud8.

I stopped in today on my way home from work.

They had LLHE spread at 2-4 and 4-8. Kinda sad not seeing the turtles there. On a brighter note, someone had started an interest list for 3-6 HOP. There were also interest lists for 10-20 HOSE and HORSE.

I went to MS this past weekend. I was pretty impressed with their poker room. It was very nice. The high ceilings, super comfy adjustable chairs, pretty good drink service (I was surprised by the amount of milkshakes that people were ordering) and I enjoyed how the higher limit area was in the center, elevated like it was a stage. I lighting there is also really gentle on the eyes. Oh having a bathroom right in the poker room was a major plus.

My few complaints were that some tables were a little too close together and there was definitely room to spread them out a bit more. I don't like how they use the bigger (stud) cards, forcing you to lift the cards up pretty high.

The action at 1/2NL was what anyone who regularly plays would expect. The did have 2/5NL, 5/10NL and a 10/30NL game running. Along with some higher limit mixed (200/400 HOSE I believe) games. I was surprised by this because the closest limit game below this was 4/8LHE. Finally it was pretty cool to be able to start a Crazy Pineapple list, though it didn't start I hope that it eventually does so people can gambol it up.

That's incredibly badass. Was that sort of a featured game they were plugging for Wednesday nights, or was it more of a one-time thing based on a couple of people asking for it at the podium?

HOPE was requested. Couple of guys asked for it around 9pm and list grew to 6 or 7. When they opened the game, 12 people showed up for seats. Started a list and it was still going at 2 when I left. The P was for Pinapple non-crazy.

If you get 6+ players and they have a couple of dead spread tables, they will start your game.

I am their pretty much every day now and the 1/2 action is good I think the 2/5 game is the best in the room. The 5/10 game has been going recently and it appears to be mostly foxwoods regs coming over Doug, Dennis, Eli and others. I would love to get a PLO game going during the week if any one is interested. I played in the 4/8 hope it was fun to blow off some steam from taking some beatings earlier in the day. The staff at mohegan is pretty accomodating in the games they will spread they even spread a 2/4 O.E game for 6 of us one weekend.

I was there a few nights this week and also noticed the Pineapple and HOPE tables. Business seems pretty steady even on weeknights with the room hopping on weekends.

Very happy to see the new cards are in. This is a very comfortable room to play in. most of the dealers have improved and do a great job. Other then 1 mistake last night that I think cost me a lot of action, I haven't had problems with dealers or floor. It's great to just go and focus on the game.

Gauge - I forgot to look for the 3/6 LHE game, will try to remember next time I go.

Does anyone know how much the gas is there? I don't even know how to get to their gas station but am wondering if that is a good way to use the points.

MS is running 4/8 at this time and not using the 3/6 level. I have noticed that the 4/8 game has been going longer into the night then the 3/6 was last month. Not sure if that is due to the limit or just random.

Wohoo I'll be there tonight. The last few times I played there I can agree with what everyone said. One thing is that sometimes the seating can get cramped. Anyone else play 1/2 NLHE there besides me?
