Is anybody playing any of the Summer Showdown events this week?
https://mohegansun.com/content/dam/m...r-showdown.pdf

I plan on playing the two day event that starts tomorrow, though I'll play the last day 1 flight on Thursday. I'm curious what to expect in terms of how many people will play, and what the skill levels will be, and any other insights people might have. I've only played a couple of weekday tournaments there and they were small turbo events, so its tough to guess anything based on that.

~400 entrants across the four flights total. Skill level very low with some good players sprinkled in. Very soft overall. The structure is an improvement over dailies but still very fast/bad.

It should be a larger field than that. Last year they did over 550 for this event and I don't believe there are any conflicts with Foxwoods this year either.

Visited the poker room last week for the first time in nearly a year. Won my first ever high hand (flopped straight flush!). I hadn't seen these particular cards that they're using now, but although they're small I like them - something about them makes them easy to see and read. It also helps in terms of the board. Does anyone know the brand?

The room itself was pretty quiet, but of course it was a Thursday and nice out. Dealers did not seem as engaging and lively. If indeed the new room will have as many tables that should mean the same number of dealers, yes? Maybe they were just not thrilled about being there on a warm July I guess.

The cards seemed fine but the felt is too thick and tight. I had problems lifting the cards off of the felt
I also agree with you about the dealers. They just seem so bored and tired of the job.

I have several match play vouchers totaling $250. I plan to play with a friend who will match the denomintion of my vouchers on the alternate color and throw a few bucks on 0s. Is this permissible?

Who could blame them?

Pit boss might not allow it if they suspect you're working together. The casino doesn't want you hedging those, they want you to gamble with them.

Lattimer is correct. If you're going to use this strategy do it as a busy table to not generate attention. Obv a Fri or Sat night would be best to find this optimal setup.

I was there for the two day tournament, and for that, they used regular old standard index KEMS. Although on day two their setups included a godawful yellow back deck that was tough to look at. Maybe they use something different at the cash tables?

I haven’t been in Mohegan in 12 months or so, but from my ever-decreasing memory they use the larger-faced cards for tournaments, and the smaller cards for cash games.

I always found that interesting. Not exactly sure as to the reasoning?

Latest I heard from my source is that it is on the engineers calendar sometime in October. Probably looking at mid-late November if I had to guess based on this intelligence.
