Apparently there's a new private Poker Room opening in Middletown DE called Middletown Sports Lounge.

Opening night is Friday July 2, 2010 from 7:00p to 1:00a.

It's in the shopping center with the UPS Store and Dunkin Donuts on E Main St (Route 299).

This is all the info I grabbed off the sign(s) in the windows as I rode by last night. As I get info, I'll post it for all.

The timing on this seems absolutely terrible. Del Park's poker room is drawing people from Baltimore and Philly. Did these people really think that Middletown residents won't make the 20-25 minute drive? Best of luck to them, but it seems doomed from the jump.

I *live* in Middletown and will never go here over Delaware Park. This just seems like horribad timing.

Why? Just curious...

Do you fear other competition? Obviously, easy money is, well, easy...
Lack of _____?

Serious question, not coming off smart - curiosity is all.

I'll reiterate some stuff from the Delaware Sports Lounge thread. I haven't gone there either. I worry about:
lack of security
lack of good enforcement of rules
lack of fish which means better players at these places
lack of game selection
$30 door charge is too high for a short visit

All good points.

1 - Can't argue with visible security. Still could be plain clothes security that stays hush-hush.

2 - Things happen everywhere, even in AC. Play long enough you're bound to run into a discrepancy. It's human nature.

3 - True, true.

4 - Same holds true for everywhere, if the interest is there, the games will be dealt. Can't expect to be the only one willing to play $100/$200 NLHE and a game to magically break out.

5 - Understood. If you're there for the grind, I think it's better for the player. If you're there for an hour or so, yeah it could be viewed as steep.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts.

Duck Wins - Thanks for the update. I just have a few questions. How many tables did the room have? What is the rake/membership cost? What are the buyin limits for the $1/$2 tables?
Thanks

Duck - I'm down in the Florida panhandle (oil spill central) and play at Pensacola. I have a collection of $1 chips, several of which 2+2ers have helped me with. I don't know anyone that goes to MSL. Could you help me out by picking up a few $1 chips the next time you play there? I'd reimburse you the money - not a problem. Let me know if you can help out. Thanks and good luck at the tables.

So they're just cheap generic chips and not like those from DSL with custom logos? Surprised they do that as anyone can walk in with a pocket full of generic chips and try to cash them in.

They're not generic, they're stamped, but they are not fancy/collector chips by any means. From what I've heard, once business is sustained, a custom chip order will follow. Just takes a little time.

Thanks Duck & Quads for the info. PM me when they get their new chips if you remember. Thanks.

Had a great time at the MSL last night. Short-handed game (6 players) playing $1/$2 NLHE with a surprising amount of action. Had a lot of fun. The room is very welcoming and the atmosphere is great. Sports on one TV and music on another. The tables/chairs were top notch quality. IMHO they're probably better than what's at any of the "Big 3" in Delaware.

I saw they're having a freeroll tourney every Wednesday in July. $300 in prizes - for free - every Wednesday in July. Pretty decent offering to attract players to the room.

Finally got a table running last night ~ 10:00PM. Fun night for sure.

Freeroll again tomorrow night, so there should be a table or two of cash going afterwards. Should be another fun night at The Lounge.

Hey guys,
I currently attend university of Delaware so this room is real close to me. I was wondering how often games get going. If I understand correctly you must pay a 30$ fee to get in the door. With that being said, I don't mind that as long as a game is going to be going for a few hours at the very least. Also, as one other poster mentioned, how is security of the place? I don't really expect there to be a security guard or anything like that, but I am not too familiar with wilmington and was wondering what kind of area it is in. (I am from philadelphia and there are plenty of places that I would play poker in, and there are other places that I don't even take my wallet to... as I am sure is of any decent sized city).

If you have been there a couple times I would really appreciate if you could shoot me a PM so we could talk about it a bit more.

Thanks

Hey Ben - I've returned your PM regarding my experience there.

I hope more folks come in there as it is probably the nicest poker room in the state - at least the nicest of the ones I've been in.

Who's going to head down tomorrow?

They're having an "almost" freeroll. $10 buy-in w/ rebuys and/or add-on (with less than 2,000 chips) and the same $300 prize pool as the freeroll on Wednesdays.

Hopefully another full table of cash game will happen like there's been the past few days.

This place does not run as a membership club, but like regular casino games - but the rake benefits the charities. No membership fee, standard rake. Very close to home so it's a nice alternative to the casinos.

Anyone been here lately? I have made several trips and had some good action on a lot of nights. Just wanted to see if anyone else had made a trip here. Very friendly place I must say.

I saw they're running a Team Tournament on Sunday May 15th @ 3:00pm. Teams alternate players on button rotations. Sounds like a fun tournament. I think I may register...
