Referring to this market in New England which is consistent with its historical trends. When Mohegan ran their first HH promo 3-4 years ago they had a full spread with 506 names on the 1/2 list.

Where did I say that? I said the OMC's won't like the Miss straddle.

The comp remark was just a jab at all the folks here that are super concerned about getting their beach blankets and crock pots.

Hi all- New to the forum but not to poker! Live much closer to the mgm than the CT casinos where I have played many years. Any word on when tournaments will begin? I play plo more than hold’em, looks like this will be very active. I’ll get there on Labor Day for my first look see. Btw, while I can make up many possibilities, what does OMC stand for?

I was told "hopefully October," "aiming for November," and "probably January" by 3 different dealers regarding tournaments.

Visited last night for the first time. Played about three 1/2NL downs from about 10:00 until 11:15.

The red felt is odd. Player in the two seat lost about $35 when he thought the player in the eight seat was all in but actually had reds behind. The felt color may have played a part in his lost equity when the winning hand player prematurely announced his holding while the action was still live - leading to his villain folding when he would've normally called.

The smaller sized chip tray seemed to cause one FW veteran dealer to be coloring up pots. His hands were frequently in and out of the pot to keep his tray stocked. This makes me somewhat uncomfortable as it makes room for hard to follow dealer math errors while also somewhat slowing down the game flow.

The last dealer was clearly a new hire with little to no experience. He was genial enough but was obviously nervous and struggled. He should be okay as he grows into the job.

There were a number of players at my table with no apparent casino playing experience - trouble trying to cut out chips, maintaining contained stacks, trying to drag their own pot, etc. Take advantage of this edge while it lasts.

The room was messy. No cup holders is another odd choice. There were empty cups everywhere around my table with no clear significant staff effort being made to police the area of refuse.

The room was running about 15 tables while I was there. All 1/2NL with a single 2/5NL and single 3/6LH - if I remember correct. There was no Omaha or Stud action while I was there... I think.

The cage was quick but lacked experience and mistakenly counted a red as a white when I was cashing out, but the supervisor caught the error before I had to point it out. Again, seemed more a case of nerves as opposed to incompetence.

Parking was easy off of East Columbus Ave.

Sign up for your M-Life card on-line before going to the casino. If you have an account, there are kiosks available to simply insert your driver's license and a card will print out. There was a long line to receive face-to-face service if you were setting up an account from scratch.

If you're looking for pizza, go outside to Red Rose (http://www.redrosepizzeria.com/) which is literally inside the casino footprint. Red Rose has been there forever and was virtually the only local business that refused to sell out to MGM. The pizza is among the best you can have in western Massachusetts.

The room is heavily speckled by members of western Mass's underground poker community.

I’ve read numerous posts about no cup holders at the tables. I was under the impression that there were pull out cup holders under the table. Is this not true?

There's end tables on wheels that can be moved around, and a few metal cup holders that sit on the felt next to your stack and have a tab that tucks under the rail to keep it from spilling.

I played exclusively at Twin for 18 months and really received nothing. I love the fact that they don’t give you **** so the OMCs stay away. More money> ****ing crockpots

Well that sucks. After all this time, the felt issue and the no cup holder issue should not happen. Did they have no one who has ever even worked in a poker room help out with this?

You should be happy....no cup holders means no where for omc to put his coffee. No crockpots and no cup holders is a hostile work environment for omc.

Is it just a lack of the metal cupholders that slide under the rail? I'm sure they can and will order more if there's a shortage.

Yeah they were in short supply on Saturday. I'm sure after cleaning a couple felts they'll figure it out.

Maybe if we keep spilling they'll get felts that aren't the same color as the most used chip. Coffee colored felts incoming.

I like this plan. I'll aim for my neighbors drink though. I don't wanna give up my own beer.

Their status period is 10/1-9/30. It'd be great if someone can find out if the matching going on right now is only good for 1 month or 13 months.
Bump. Hoping someone can find this out by Friday, it'll be my only chance to do it

I stuck with Jameson. They serve it in plastic though. Feels foolish to drink with your pinky up when it's in a dixie cup.

Used to be a Foxwoods/Mohegan weekly regular in the post Black Friday world, but have been a working stiff over the last 5+ years. I've been waiting with baited anticipation for MGM to open as I grew up in Northampton - even more of a reason to return home now!

Took the Amtrak train into the station and walked over on opening day (Friday) - I haven't spent much (any) time in Springfield since i worked there a decade ago, but it's definitely gone through quite the transformation/beautification.
Outside of the casino really fits into downtown, and the internal ambiance slightly mirrors it too.
I liked the casino room itself - 20-25 tables. They'll figure out the bumps when it comes to seating fairly soon. Each of the dealers I had (only played for 1-2 hrs) was experienced and fast, mentioned coming from other casinos for "better pay".
Deep buyins and mississippi straddle keep the smaller stakes games more fun.
So much bad play - presumably from all the new blood, take advantage of it while you can I would say.

Looking forward to making trips home more often and stopping by for an evening of play. JPsych, Lattimer, and co. from the old guard - I'll make sure to reach out next time I'm down! Maybe grab a bite or drink and catchup on life.

Now to be fair, I'm not sure if you have any Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun experience but the 1/2 games up here are not comparable in any way, shape or form to those in any of the FL rooms I've played. If you're a winning 1/2 player in these rooms you'd be a 2/5 crusher down there. I actually know two who transitioned and are actually that. They still have it so so good in CT.
No, those would be Harrahs in New Orleans and Winstar in Oklahoma.

I know 2 guys who moved from S. Florida to play full time at MGM National Harbor and report that those games are much softer than S. Florida. Ive played 1000s of hours in S. Florida and played about 40 hours over 5 days at MGM National Harbor and I concur that those games are softer than most rooms in S. Florida (although not PBKC which is in league of its own).

Can you guys knock it off? This thread isn't about how good/bad the Florida rooms are. Yes I know the start of the discussion was relevant but the points have been made, now it's just a derail. So stop.
