how are the games on the weekends / when do the waitlists start getting long? Was thinking of heading up there this weekend on Saturday but didnt want to end up waiting forever to get off the waitlist.

Waitlists don't generally get too bad. You can call ahead as well.

thanks. what a difference a day makes...yesterday I saw just 4 1/2 NL tables, and no wait. Today its at 11 tables (6 1/2 NL), and 14 waiting. I could have sworn I randomly looked at some point when I was browsing Foxwoods/Mohegan and saw something like 60 something people on the 1/2 waitlist, but could be mixing up the casinos and I dont really remember what time it would have been.

the reason there was 4 tables no wait that day was because there was literally a blizzard rolling through that day. On any given day during the week or weekend they have 8+ tables running with maybe 10-20 person wait on average. If you put your name on the call in list though and come in an hour im almost always top 1-5 on the list by the time i make it. Call in list is definitely important at this place.

Thanks I’ll make sure to call in while I’m driving up. Just looked and 28ppl on the 1/2 list with 6 tables. Hopefully won’t have to wait too long Saturday afternoon. Thanks!

Played here about 7 hours yesterday (2 hrs at 1/2, 5 hr at 2/5), and 4 hours today (1/2). No real complaints on the room. The dealers were friendly, action was decent especially in the 2/5 game, less-so the 1/2 Sunday morning crowd, lots of $2 calls pre-flop. They had a list for 2/5 but it didnt get going until a bit after they opened, so I ended up just staying in the 1/2 game stuck at that point and wanted to win my $ back.

I didnt realize the room had comps of $2/hr until I heard someone ask the floorman to load some $ on their card for food. I was expecting it to just show up as MGM rewards on the card but apparently you need to have them load it onto the card, as well as tell them where you want to eat. Was able to load all my $ I earned and got myself a late lunch before heading home today.

Stayed at the hotel, rooms were pretty nice other than not liking the pillows. Casino was packed on Saturday night, but the poker list never seemed to have gotten super long. I kept my eye on the 2/2 PLO interest list but when I was thinking of leaving around 11pm I asked and the floor said they werent sure if it would go off or not even though there were 9 people on the list, so I called it a night.

Wow, I've played here 4 or 5 times and didn't realize that. Looking forward to some free food next time I come up, thanks for the heads up.

Yea I had $19 so paid for my lunch. Some weird rule like you need to say what restaurant it’s for when you get it loaded (the market food court all counts as one) and you need to use it up all at once. If you load $20 and only get $4 at one place they take the full $20

They haven't shown their faces since. I heard Eric was playing at the Wynn in Vegas last week.

I heard they showed up at twin river recently. Not sure how they were received among the regs there

Maybe good action for holdem… (I’ll have to give it a couple more shots)

But cmon there’s hardly games running. I play plo and it doesn’t go there and when it does it’s 2-2.

Can anyone confirm the rake at 1/2 is 10% up to $6 plus $2 jackpot drop on flops?

I can confirm that is the rake at the 4/8 limit game. I believe the promo drops are staggered. $1 @---and then the second $ at ----.

I'm going to be traveling through the area in early June, thinking of stopping by for the night. How are the hotel rooms for the price? Anywhere else nearby within walking distance? I like to have a few drinks while I play and I don't want to have to drive after.

Room rates vary a lot, so check online around your anticipated dates. I've seen anything from 150-500. If you can't get a room at MGM within your budget, I would not recommend getting a hotel within walking distance. Downtown Springfield after dark is not the sort of place to be carrying a bunch of cash around. You're better off getting an Uber, and personally, I'd probably hop over to West Springfield.

Maybe a silly question, but if downtown Springfield isn't someplace you want to be after dark with cash, how is the casino itself all that much better? Is the security particularly good?

The casino is pretty safe itself, but I still practice vigilance. For example I park as close to the elevators as possible, and keep an eye on who is around me when going to and from car. There are incidents. The perimeter of the casino has a few restaurants and stores which are generally well lit and seem pretty safe. But personally I wouldn't want to walk a mile to a hotel after midnight with a few grand in my pocket. HTH

Pro Tip: Do NOT go wandering around anywhere outside at night in downtown Springfield... You will regret it

I grew up next to Springfield and yeah, you don't want to stay anywhere near there except at the casino itself. Suggest getting a hotel or Airbnb in West Springfield or Westfield instead, much safer

A $10/$25 NL game here was just raided by the State Police and 3 players arrested. I don't have any more details ATM.

The game is uncapped and reports are that at least one arrested player's stack was $20K+

I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express last summer. Three minute walk to the casino. But I will never go back to this sh#thole town. As we were checking into the hotel, they were wheeling out an unfortunate soul in a body bag. The receptionist said he was "partying a little too hard". My car was also broken into. Really greasy town...felt uneasy at night.

But the poker wasn't half bad. I felted a meth head lol.
