As of last Friday when I was there I believe it was around $30k or so.

They actually do have deposit boxes available in the Poker Room. Get with the floor or cage and they can assist.

How many runners for yesterday's tournament?

Slow pony, but the 1/2 table I was at during the Black Friday promotion was the tightest table I've ever seen live - I didn't see a single pot go over $150 in 5 hours. Saw one guy flat river 3x in pots that were less than $50 with the 2nd nuts each time...

OTOH, I stopped by Tuesday afternoon on the way home from work (no Hot Seat promo). Best $1-2 table I've been on in a while:

- lots of straddling
- saw a flop every single hand, mostly multi-way with PF raises or 3bets
- lots of bluffing and hero-calling (white-collar type on a long lunch break loved calling down with AK unimproved & was right a couple times)

I was lucky to sniff out a river c/r bluff on a Js-Ts-x-x-x board...doubled up & home before dinner.

so i was at the mgm yesterday and had 2 profound things happen. 1. i won the hot seat at 11:15. never thought that would ever happen,but there is always stranger events at the casino. 2 had about 4 state troopers come into the cardroom to escort someone out. could not figure out why until my tablemate came back and told us. it seems this fine chap was drinking liquor from a bottle he had in his pocket. i wish i could have told him drinks were free here but he seemed calm on his way out and he was a wee bit bigger than me. i was told his beverage of choice was hennesey

4 Staties. For that. ****ing Massachusetts.

When the casino bill was on the verge of being passed, my local newspaper (Lawrence Eagle Tribune) ran an interview with my local State Senator. She listed all the reasons she was opposed to casinos. It was the usual scary stuff: casinos would bring crime, esp prostitution; traffic; etc. But then she took it a step further, saying that the State Police and Attorney General's office would both need to be overhauled to oversee the new casinos, and the state could not afford such an expense.

I was outraged. I wrote a Letter to the Editor, citing my local roots and years of experience working in casinos around the USA, rebutting everything she said...and when I got to the Staties/AG stuff, I flat-out called her a liar. Repeatedly. No state in America with casinos uses the State Police or AG to oversee casinos! She's FOS!

The editor wrote me back. He loved it, but (and this will come as no surprise to anyone who has read ANY of my posts on 2+2) he said it was far too long to run as a Letter to the Editor. He said he wanted to run it as an Op-Ed piece, but I'd have to trim at least 50% of it and re-submit. I did, and he ran it in the Sunday edition!

I was so proud!

Guess what happened next?

Massachusetts passed the bill...and then beefed up the State Police and AG's offices to oversee the casinos.

I was mortified.

I wrote another piece, apologizing to that State Senator by name.

The paper had no interest in running my apology.

I hate Massachusetts.

On same day,?Staties came to my table & told a player (who was wearing a hoodie) to pick up his chips & come with them. Player asked why. No explanation given. Short time later player (a reg.) returned to the table & said the staties mistook him for someone else who was wearing a hoodie. Soon thereafter staties perp walked your guy out who also had a hoodie. I figured he was at the very least a wanted felon! BTW, the two players looked nothing alike!

All of this sounds better then what I’m used to seeing in the CT casinos...
A bunch of floor people standing 30 feet away staring blankly at a belligerent drunk player growing more and more threatening toward a dealer (who the floor people would probably then reprimand for defending themselves) until a 70 year old “security guard” could point the real security to the player who probably by that point has hit someone!

FWIW, State police oversee gaming in Louisiana....

what are peoples thoughts on the 5/10 action at mgm? just in general

looks like they have a 50k GTD event coming up here ? with just 23 tables will this be in the poker room or another area in the casino ? i have yet to visit here
