However, I've been all over the world so I'm not the kind of person who worries about these types of things. I think I'll take my chances.
I'm not sure exactly which hotel your speaking of, but your plan is sound. You will be fine any time of day walking between MGM and the DT hotels like Marriott and Sheraton. Uber is smart for La Quinta. Hilton at hall of fame is probably fine if you take the right route.

Lol.
I was there Sunday (FW that is) and happy to report I was not stabbed. Haven't managed to get to Springfield yet but hopefully will before Xmas. Have family live in Granby so have driven through Springfield on occasion. Yeah the area seems a bit depressed but no more than Bridgeport so not particularly worried about making it from garage to casino to garage.

I just performed a long overdue cleanup of this thread. Way too close to the line, if not outright crossing it, as far as racist/classist/culturist/whateverist (you get it) posts. I think people can get the picture from what posts remain, just be smart and aware, as you always should be. If anyone feels the need to make another post on the subject, please keep it toned down with regard to that stuff. Thanks.

WNPR's Where we live did a show about and from MGM Springfield on Monday
http://www.wnpr.org/post/live-mgm-springfield

It was ok, though most of the Mayor's and MGM's PR went uncontested. Would have liked to have more experts on talking about pros and cons.

First time I went to play poker there I was sitting next to this YBG with tatoos and looked like a tough guy. As he started a conversation with his neighbor to his right, turned out, he was a college student.
I didn't peg the young white tatood guys as tough sitting at my table.
I rather felt ashamed of my self after.

Nepeeme we allll do **** like this every single dang day. And since gambling and poker are so universal we're gonna have lots opportunities to do it at the table. I catch myself doing it too and it sucks. But you keep putting yourself in the situation with the intention to change. That's the work.

Thanks for being honest.

Thanks for checking yourself.

Thanks for sharing.

Bit of information on crime reports. Basically it shows low amount of arrests, mostly for minor offenses like trespassing, simple drug possession and warrants. It does not mention anything beyond that such as reported offenses.

Kinda scary that violent incidents which were either eye-witnessed or confirmed through extremely reliable sources aren't included. This doesn't even account for the number of ejections from the poker room for non-violent offenses. Springfield.....it's like a baby Vegas!

I'm not sure exactly how it works in a casino, but anywhere with an entertainment license and a liquor license does everything they can to have incidents not reported to police. Once you have too many incidents, you get restrictions and suspensions on your licence.

finally broke down and went and played some cards in the mgm. must say that the poker room is much nicer than i thought it would be. the dealers were i must say better than i have seen at foxwoods or the sun. there was a waitress at our table every 30-40 minutes which i consider excellent cuz there were 22 tables in action both times i was there. thurs am from 8-2 and sat. pm from 8-1. i must take back the bad things i said about the casino and now say you just have to be careful of the area. i think the security might have their stuff under control and since i know mr. delaney i guess he'll keep it under control.

Going to check out the poker room this weekend. Couple of questions:

(1) How early do we need to get there on Saturday to sit with little/no wait? Will be playing low/midstakes PLO and NLH.

(2) I read a bunch about 6/5 blackjack when the casino first opened. What limits have they been offering 3/2 at on the weekend?

Thanks!

Black Jack Tables that pay 6/5 instead of 3/2 for player black. Considerably increases the house edge.

I believe there is 1 table that pays 3/2 by the big wheel. 50 minimum on a friday iirc

I like to get there before 10. They open up 1/2 tables pretty quick but they are much slower to open 2/5. I think the room was full or close by noon last weekend.

Cool promotion updates:
HOT SEAT PROMOTION! 11/7/18 - 12/1/18
Wednesday’s & Thursday’s: 10:15am-8:15pm $300/$150
Friday’s & Saturday’s: 10:15am-7:15pm $300/$150
Friday’s & Saturday’s: 8:15pm $1,000/$500

3 big changes:
1) Longer hours on weekend. This is smart as the room often emptied out at 4:20 and didn't recover for hours.
2) Wins on weekend pay the same as weekday.
3) Last spin on Fri/Sat is huge! 1k to winner are $500 to each at the rest of table. Hopefully this makes people stick around and really juice that evening action.

Overall, they are paying out more weekly with this change. Assuming full tables, 74.8K/week last promotion compared to 80.3K/week this promotion.

Last spin on Fri/Sat will offer $24 expected value to participants! Dope. That's assuming the room is at capacity. I'm sure it will be at capacity.

Also, till 12/5 Royal Flush pays 1k. Almost as good as a beach chair

I've only seen hold em NL 1/2, 2/5, and 5/10 (9max, timed) I've seen 5/5 PLO on the weekends, maybe 2/2 PLO?

I've heard from dealer that OE (stud/omaha) has run 3 times

Seen 5-10 2-7 triple draw on interest list but I think that was just a smart ass.

My best guess, from afar:

Big O would be hi-lo split, 5CO would be hi-only?

Not trying to be mean, but if you rephrase this to something that is coherent then maybe someone can help you and get you an answer.

Seriously? Here, I'll draw it in crayon for you.

Is the minimum buy-in for the smallest Omaha game $100? If not, what is it?

Is the smallest Omaha game 2/2? If not, what is it?
