My point here was, stakes shouldn’t matter.
Whether is 1/2NL or 200/400
I’ve had very well known names in the poker world joke around with me as a dealer and I’ve cracked jokes back. I’ve had the grandfather of poker sit with me on a dead game, and we chatted the whole down and gave him a deck, showed me all the cheating slight of hand tricks that people used to do when games were player dealt.

A good dealer is a good dealer, period.
Robots don’t speak, robots aren’t able to crack a joke here and there and keep the fish still having fun while losing to grinders.
I understand there’s a fine line, and a good dealer recognizes that line and doesn’t cross it (while a fun game, still enforce rules and keep the game clean)

A clean well dealt game can still fun.

MAKE POKER FUN AGAIN

My new campaign, and I’m sticking to it.

Rant over.

Poker should be fun no doubt! I'm always trying to get conversations going. Honestly, never in my life have I encountered groups of people so unwilling to engage socially. I'm constantly testing new behavioral strategies for waking up sleepy tables. I do appreciate it when the dealer helps. I'm 100% on board with your campaign.

I can just see how a serious player at 5-10 might be miffed when a dealer influences action on a particular hand and they lose money. Even if in the long run, a fun dealer might be better for the game and their bottom line.

You can be fun/friendly without influencing the action. It's not that hard.

That previous post was a bit confusing.
Even if that dealer was a good friend of mine and a fun one, I’d easily snap at him for influencing action just like if another player did it.
You can easily say, hey “dealer” one player to a hand goes for everyone not just players.

Yeah he could have had a total brain fart and didn’t realize he did it, like some players totally don’t realize they just did something wrong. We’re all human in the end, and will make mistakes.

Oh and computers/robots also make mistakes!

Feel free to make a new thread in CCP about whether the dealer should be the host of the party or a robot.

after giving this place a chance, though things have marginally improved, still a cluster.

waitresses are no where to be found. On a friday night, only 2 for the whole place. makes no sense.

dealers are still making really bad mistakes. had a dealer say "who has the heart?" when the 4th heart came on the river before any river action. getting confused by who's turn it is when straddling from random positions. and overall very slow. I counted out of curiosity. 22 hands in 1 hour. Maybe that particular hour there was a lot of action but i was not surprised at all.

comp situation is not going to change apparently. takes at least 5 mins to get the floor to transfer points to get food. they have to click on 20 different things for something this simple. The lines at the food places are always super long due to lack of options. food isn't that good anyway.

A LOT of tanking going on by players. This may be due to new players or what not, but its out of hand. and the dealers are not good enough to keep the action moving. $20 river bet in a 1/2 game and the guy tanks forever and folds every time. A lot of players not knowing its their turn. Really adds up.

Overall clientele is seedy. I see ppl getting arrested (not in poker room) every night. A lot of insults being thrown around between players and badgering with not a whisper from the dealer till it boils over. A lot of wannabe gangsters.

I played at mohegun this weekend and the difference was stark. The lack of hands and the poor dealers cannot be overcome in my opinion by the marginal poor play. I mean, it's 1/2. The ppl at mohegun aren't bracelet winners either.

it is very very obvious that this casino does not value poker players, which is probably true for most casinos. But the lack of training for their staff, the lack of comp considerations, the lack of waitress allocation, and the overall lack of proper poker dynamics makes it unbearable.

just my 2 cents for what its worth.

The comp think will never change. It’s an MGM Resorts thing. It’s how it’s done even at Bellagio and Aria.
The rest, I haven’t been there so I can’t comment, but considering the area, I don’t doubt you at all.

For those that did a tier match, did you get the upgrade yet? If so how long did it take?

What about the 1/2 then?
I think I like the max at 1000 for the 2/5.
I feel like 500 max is too low for a 2/5 considering the 300 max for 1/2.

Update to the food comp discount/ weirdness:

Asked floor for $15 transfer to comps for food. Ordered Lobster Roll and Fries, $19. I did not have to pay any extra at register. Last time it was 17.50 and I paid no extra. Interested to see how far this goes. Upwards of 30%?

Keep this in mind my nitty friends!

Finally got to play here this week. The room is really nice, not too crowded and I liked the soda station right in the room. Didn't order drinks but the waitress service seemed excellent. The guy beside me was certainly taking advantage of the good service. I think he had 3 beers and 3 shots in about an hour and he was already hammered when I got there. He dusted off the $ 400 he had when I arrived plus another 3 or 4 hundred. To be honest , it wasn't worth having him there as he held up the game too much. Was interesting seeing the dealers warn the next up how drunk player 1 was. Supposedly he got shut off and left while I was away from the table.

Otherwise the table was typical 1-2 NL. Wifey escorted me out of the poker room after she lost her slot money (again), so we played some slots together for while (on my dime, of course). The VP machines were mostly multi-hand type so the max bet on the quarter machine was 18 units. That number was higher on other machines. I hit quads for 100 dollars but gave that back on other slots.

Overall a pretty nice casino. It had a bit of an urban décor .A lot of food options on the perimeter of the casino.

For us, it's the same distance to Mohegan or foxwoods as it is to MGM so we may return, but Encore will probably be our go to and I'll still play in the NH rooms because of the short drive.

Last I heard, the rake was $5 max and there was a $2 drop for a promo.
Is a promo running now? What is it?

Promo is BBJ, 22k or 27k. No high hands at the moment. One dealer indicated this was pending approval by Mass gaming.

Uber nit food comp update:
Found the breaking point.

Transferred $12, order $20 worth of food, had to pay difference in cash.

So discount seems to be between 20% and 40%, but if you go over error margin you must pay full difference. I think I will stick to loading 20% less than anticipated amount going forward.

Also, poker host is very kind and accommodating. Helped me with a logistical issue, and humored and listened attentively to a bad reg mawg ramble on forever about discounts he feels entitled to. Overall I'd say floor management here is very professional.

Less issues with the cage. Seems like they don't need to verify every green chip transaction any more. That's nice.

They need more chairs so guests can sit behind.

I find it annoying and uncomfortable to have someone sit over my shoulder because the player next to me wants to include a guest in the game. Also 100% of the time the player with guest slows the game down by showing their hand to guest, showboating for guest, or not noticing action on them when while having side conversations. I don't care if its a girlfriend, wife, buddy or hot hooker....I'd rather have the space along with the player keeping game moving.

This has not been my experience. I'd say 80% it's just the opposite. The dude completely ignores the chick. Occasionally you do see a person you describe and they are almost always terrible and easy to exploit. The player you describe is terrible and you should WANT them in your game.

My wife sits behind me, not next to me and knits and watches the game. She likes to talk to other players if they engage with her. She will stand up and watch a big hand. We never talk during hands.

I have been a foxwoods reg for the last 3-5 years playing about 2-4 times a week. I play mostly 1-2/2-5 and think this room is nice. Comfy chairs, lots of tv's and I dont mind the red felt. The dealers are new and have some things to learn as does some of the staff but they are doing a good job so far. The only complaint I have isn't directed at MGM Springfield particularly but at the corporation as a whole. The comps suck. Plain and simple. Other than that the room is just like any other. Filled with players who think they are waaaayyyy better than they are, lol. 5-10 players talking **** about the 2-5 players who talk **** about the 1-2 players who talk **** about all the 2-5 players who think they are good. Also, be careful who you talk **** to and walking to your car. You aren't in Norwich or Ledyard anymore.
