If you Google – hotel and the ZIP Code of the casino – you should be able to find more reasonable accommodations nearby.

Same question for the hotel option around. Do players get any discount? Thanks.

Johnny, what is your policy on chops in tournaments? Does MGM facilitate? Meaning, is the clock paused, does the floor run ICM numbers, etc.? There was a lot of confusion surrounding the chop talks of the 50k last night and the floor person in charge (same guy in my other post who was being unprofessional last Monday evening) didn't seem to know what the policy was.

Is it common for rooms to do the ICMs? Serious question.

Last time I played in one of the Aria dailies the floor stopped and ran the chop #s for us when there were 6 left.

Regarding Sunday Tourney:

I think a 30-minute or 40-minute dinner break should be added. If this tournament is going to go 12 hours or more, players should have some time to get a bite and rest for a few minutes. The standard 10-minute breaks are not sufficient to go to the Market and pick up food. Eating table-side is not ideal either.

The 10-minute break that occurs after level 13 might be a good place to put it since there is a color-up of purple chips also taking place during that break. Just make it a 30 or 40 minute break instead of 10. If my math is right, that would put dinner at about 6:10pm.

We do facilitate, and complete tax forms based on the actual amount received by he player.

When a chop discussion is being discussed, to make the chip counts static, at the other place they pause the clock.

This is only allowed one time, if there is no agreement between the players, when the clock in stopped then there won't be any further clock stoppages that will be allowed.

Players are welcome to discuss it during a break and come to an agreement. Can we allow the clock to be stopped for a chop discussion during a level (rather than waiting till the end of the level)?

Sure. It should be that way already.

I've heard recently that there's an area currently being used for storage which is available to be converted to a poker room and actually is marked as such in some constructions plans. It's somewhere above the current poker room area and would have escalator access.

Surprising to see a moderator post an unsubstantiated rumor. I doubt MGM gives a rat's patootie what 2+2 thinks of them relocating their poker room, so it seems irresponsible and pointless to generate another flurry of complaining posts from 2+2ers and defensive posts from Johnny (who in any event would probably be powerless to do anything about it), especially when there has been no official word of this change yet.

Surprising to see that someone would think I'd post an unsubstantiated rumor. What MGM thinks about what 2+2 thinks is of course irrelevant.

There are people here who have been interested in room relocation. I had information about it, so I posted it. I don't think that's irresponsible or pointless, but thanks for weighing in.

At this point, its just a rumor. We are looking at ways to make our property more profitable and to give ourselves more space. The option mentioned in the post above is the best candidate of ideas and is getting a serious look, but no formal decision has been made.

If you read back through the thread, you will see a link that mentions this move in the LVRJ. You will also see the opinions of 2+2 posters on why its a good/bad idea..... The key word here is [B]idea[B]

On a different tangent and running the danger of being accused of whining about unimportant stuff (and yes, in the grand scheme of things, this is quite unimportant), has anyone noticed there's a weird smell whenever you walk by the conservatory?

It might be coming out of Ginger, I am not sure, but I definitely think it's very very very uninviting.

Which area? Near the casino entrance beside Ginger? Gonna go give it the sniff test...

Yes. Walk out of the casino floor from the back entrance; you will have the conservatory in front of you and Ginger to your right.

It's not a conventionally bad smell. In the beginning I couldn't even consciously figure out what was throwing me off about the place. It feels stuffy; a bit like taking stuff out of a box after a few years. Looking at the conservatory, you would expect to smell like flowers and spring, but the smell only serves to underscore the artificiality of the thing.

Again, not a big deal. It could also just be me.

FWIW I've walked out there many many times, as recently as this weekend, and never noticed an uninviting smell. It has even smelled pretty good on some occasions.

Yes. I noticed something yesterday or the day before, don't remember which. Walking in the conservatory next to Ginger. It was a bad smell, but fleeting, and with my dubious nose, I couldn't pin down source or what the heck it was.

Granted, it wasn't a big tournament with lots of $$$ on the line (winner got less than $1,800) but I think the players should be given some respect and the dealer should not be distracted by anyone or anything, and certainly not an MGM poker room employee. I think some of the players were somewhat surprised at the continued interactions between the dealer and floor but as far as I know, nobody said anything. It would have bothered me if I was at the FT. If you want, you can PM me for the floor's name.

2. Do the results of your new Sunday tournament get sent to Hendon Mob?

Thanks.

Pretty sure he knows exactly who his floor was last night. Not trying to be a jerk but he does run the room.

Can you elaborate on what was said? Foul language?

I just think if you are going to criticize someone on a public forum to his boss you need to provide as much info as possible.

In the interests of privacy for any employee, I would request that if you have issues with the conduct of any employee, you approach the shift manager on duty, or reach out to me in a PM. I think the form rules prohibit mentioning any names (appropriately so), and any necessary coaching or retraining is not something we will do publicly. Rest assured that we will fix any service related issues, but also know that one of my biggest (if not the biggest) responsibility is to protect my employees from abuse or negative treatment. I will not tolerate, nor will I respond to specific criticisms of my employees in this open forum.

This seems like a little different question than people who are trying to stay somewhere really cheap. The casino is short of rooms, so they charge super high rates. National Harbor does the same. However, other rooms in Alexandria are nice and very close to the casino (and safe). If you are ok paying normal rates ($150?) there are lots of hotels in Alexandria Virginia. If you are looking for cheaper than that then use the zip code to find Maryland hotels. The neighborhood will be a little less upscale than Alexandria, but still ok and also very close (not more than 10 minutes in normal traffic).
