Counterpoint: why do players tank for a minute or longer AND THEN ask for a count?

At 5/10 NL today, a player, and then a floorperson, and then that same floorperson confirming while reading it from something on their phone, all said that Mississippi straddles are permitted in all time games and not just PLO.

This is contrary to the info in the OP and also info from various other floorpeople and dealers.

Mostly just flagging for Johnny so this can be sorted out officially once things calm down. Kudos to all on your team for a great opening weekend.

P.S. Pro tip for my fellow H2O enthusiasts, today I found a water fountain with bottle-filling tap in the restroom alcove in the "mall" area between the poker room and the food court area.

Long time reader, first time poster. Rec player - mostly PLO, played at MD Live several times and just played yesterday and today at MGM. I live in DC and for me it took 30 minutes basically door to door, arrived at the casino both days between 11:30 and 1 pm and had no issues parking. AT MD Live it normally takes me 50-60 minutes to get there. Today was much better than yesterday - the floor had it's **** together and the waitresses came by much more frequently than yesterday. However, all they have in the tea department is lipton black tea, which is not impressive. At Md Live they at least have green tea, earl grey, chamomile. Johnny, please see if you can expand your tea menu. And BTW, congratulations on a beautiful room!

The PLO 1-2 game was a lot of fun. One thing to clarify because it constantly came up in our game was how does the pot sizing deal with extra 1's and 2's. Several dealers told us that it was rounded up to the nearest 5, and then a different dealer contradicted that ruling saying that they had natural rounding so if it's 21 or 22 in the pot then that's the equivalent of 20. Finally the floor came over and confirmed that the pot is always rounded up to the nearest 5 in PLO here, so if there's $21 in the pot, then it's really $25.

Also had a sick hand today that I feel compelled to share: OTB ($500 behind) I'm dealt K J 10 8 villian (super aggressive, a little drunk) raises to 20, I call, (4 callers). Flop comes KJ9 Villain bets out $60. I make it ~$250. Villain calls, everyone else folds. 6 Villain puts me all in for remaining ~$230. I call. He says nut flush. River: Q #Bink

Ha! Thanks for sharing the hand.

Tea programs are becoming more and more necessary- I do hope they adjust.

We were able to get the 1/2 PLO switched to a 1/2 Big O 5-card game on Saturday. All players at the table agreed, the floor got the new game placard and we switched over. Hoping we can get this running regularly, at least on the weekends.

Congrats Johnny on a successful opening weekend. Pretty happy with how the room has come along. Some minor kinks to iron out, but overall kudos for how the staff handled the huge volume of players while running the games smoothly.

What are the rules regarding table change? For example, if I want to move from a 9-handed 2/5 table to a 5-handed table, can I move right away since I'm filling a short-handed table, or do I have to wait till a new player is available to replace me in the 9-handed game? Thanks

I don't recall seeing this in this thread or the hype thread, but will Pearl/Gold/Platinum/Noir players get their respective comp bonuses in the poker room?

Unfortunately, no. We are working on integrating our systems to make it happen, though....

Enjoyed myself there this weekend, great room.

What can we expect for tournaments? Or is this a couple of months away once the room is settled?

Hi Johnny,

Do comps earned in the poker room ever expire? If so, how often will we have to play to make sure that our comps don't expire?

Johnny,

- Please remove ability to Mississippi straddle in 5/T NL+. It messes with the integrity of the game and forces the blinds to play tighter/more correctly which is not a good thing

- Please scrap the drink ordering system for a traditional waitress takes order and fetches drinks from her designated area

- Do something about the draft that flows in from under the doors to the outside

- Do something to minimize the terrible scraping noise that happens when a rack of chips hits the cage counter

- Make security check backpacks. Some people aren't being let in with backpacks. Others aren't even being checked at all

- Remove the "no-hoodie" policy if possible

- Remove the "no 1 chip call" policy. Currently this opens up angle-shooters to throw a chip in to get a reaction. I know people will be warned and banned but those initial times it happens will result in really money being lost due to scumbags

- Please group the 2/5 games and 5/T games all in a similar area so they are easier to be scouted and seen for table changes

- Please increase the walking time to 45 minutes. It's impossible to get food even to go and be back in 30. Have some sort of system to prevent people from walking for 45, playing a rotation then walking for another 45.

Just some suggestions. Feel free to ignore or implement any of these. They'd all improve the experience in your room.

Straddles will be allowed in those games temporarily. When we get a feel for what our players want, we may make some changes.

The drink ordering system is beyond my control, but give it time. It may work out better in the long run.

The draft is in the process of being addressed.

Hoodies are allowed, but you can't have anything over your face that reduces the ability of a camera to see it. As long as you don't put the hood up, no issue.
This one won't change.

The 1 chip call policy won't change. It's still a call, but we will get the pot right before proceeding. This is a game protection issue.

We are already grouping the 2/5 and 5/10 games.

We may extend the walking time, and reserve the right to pick up anyone who walks excessively.

Johnny, stupid question. Totally understand the nonhoodies policy but I saw several folks with those fisherman / Gilligan style hats pulled down low. Isn't that a similar obscuring issue?

Please do not allow button straddles in the NLHE. They are enormously harmful to whoever happens to be in the blinds during the straddle, and thus unfair to certain seats when not everyone is straddling. They also make the game play both bigger and tighter overall.

I am mostly a 2/5 player but willing to play 5/10 some of the time. I will absolutely not play a 5/10 game that allows button straddles.

I also hope you keep the time at 30 minutes before a player gets picked up, especially if you are facilitating ordering food in the poker room.

Thanks. I will try again tomorrow. I asked the gentleman to double check as I had no problem Friday, but he was insistent that I was not allowed.

In my personal experience straddle game play looser and not tighter.
Straddle on the button is not harmful to the blinds, stop been a nit. Poker player complaining about games they play in have too much action is hilarious.

I for once welcome a 45 min to 1 hour for dinner breaks. Sometimes in busy venue like MGM the time it take from ordering food and the food showing up could be 30 mins.

I Have a question about hotel room. Do we get poker rates, and how do we pay for room with our comps since it doesn't show up in Mlife?

Great room and good action, though there was one incident where i believe the dealer took a drop when there was no flop. But most of the dealers were really good, and the floor persons were very accommodating.

Stopped by for a bit last night. Very nice room, im sad itll be covered in alcohol in short order because of the lack of cup holders. Dude at my table spilled wine all over himself and the brand new chair.

I remember some people were opposing the deepstaked buyins and i want to say that I am strongly in favor of keeping it as is. $1/$3 $500 played great! I wish youd add button straddles to it as well, could let the fish make it a 1/3/6 game where youre actually deeepstacked enough to be able to make a move.
