I've seen game selection manipulation happen a couple of times, and I'm likely to call out those responsible publicly and harshly if I see it again.

And yes, I play in games for which you suggest this rule.
Saw this happen for the last few session at 2/5. Middle-aged dude in skin tight under armour (usually blue) with small glasses table switched 3-4 times within 30 minutes. Guy was like a hot potato yesterday, waited until just before the blinds on our table before he switched...

Is this a good strategy, is the field super tough buddy?

Perhaps seat change cards in the future?

I don't mind guys that table-switch. I do mind pitching the floor to change the status of a must-move to a main game to try to get an incoming fish at the correct table.

If you ever see that, please make us aware. We will bar the player from more ham one transfer per shift.

That happens everywhere. We have pretty concrete rules about must moves, so there shouldn't be an option to change a MM to a main...

Just saw a few posts about VIP's.

Don't know anything about the 10th seat and I would hate to see it. But to get moved up the list and become a VIP all you have to do is slip a bill to the right person. Amount probably is dependent on the length of the list and casino.

It is regular practice at all Vegas casinos ($50 Min) (maybe the floormen's union fought for it.)

Have not done or seen it at MGM but it is done at all other area casinos. At Charles Town you can even get moved up for $5 (maybe that is why they don't allow you to call in to get on the list). At Live they actually have a tip Jar at the desk though I have never used it.

I'm pretty sure bellagio adds the 10th seat for any VIP for any game they want...

I was there last weekend for my first time & it's a nice room. I unfortunately ran bad & so bad that during one beat, the table I had for with my drink disappeared during the hand. I had seen a table get taken by waitstaff from right in between two people not paying attention. Wth are these people thinking?!? Should I just stiff them whenever I order something until they stop acting like savages? I noticed a few people kept $1 chips on them & realized that that might be some kind of insurance tables don't get taken away. Is that really what's necessary or should mgmt be spoken with?

I've been attaching the tables to my chair with a bike lock. Seems to be working so far.

Last week the player next to me and I had our drinks taken off of it while we were in a hand and put on the (poker) table. Waitress told us they dont have enough tables and are trying to save them now for meals only. We each only had a bottle of water and a drink so it wasn't a huge deal. Just...bizarre I guess. How much can those tables really cost MGM?

The room has plenty of food tables imo. The problem is that too many people treat the tables as their personal storage caddy and use them to hold their bag, phone, coat, charger, etc. I saw a guy recently who had an empty table next to him with just one bottle of water on it. Over the course of a few hours several food runners asked if they could take the table for someone's meal and this guy said "no, I'm using it" every time. That's where the problem is.

People get very possessive of those things. At the other Maryland casino, I took my first shot at 5/10NL a few months ago. When I arrived, there was no trash can nearby so I set an empty water bottle on a table that “belonged” to someone. The guy had a ****ing hissy fit and I thought I was going to get my ass kicked. Way to tap on the glass, ****er.

With all respect, I think your floors may not be following the rules all the time.

Johnny, do you know what the casino policy is regarding ID'ing people already on the gaming floor? The other day I was ID'd coming back to the poker room from the bathroom. Today a security guard came up to me at the table and asked for ID when I was in a hand. It's not a huge deal and it doesn't bother me too much because I know I look like I'm 15 and it's a huge liability to the casino if they get caught with underage players. I'm just wondering if this is the new standard practice. You can't easily get in to the gaming area without showing ID as it is. Was there an issue with underage players getting caught?

Here's a wait time reference during peak time on a Saturday in case anyone cares about this info.

I arrived around 6PM on Sat, Feb 25, and put my name on 1/3 NL, 2/5NL, and 1/2 PLO.

1-2 PLO, about 20+ names ahead of me, called in 1hr 50 mins.
1-3 NL, about 80+ names ahead of me, called in 2hrs 15 mins from start time.
2-5 NL, about 60+ names ahead of me, called in 3hrs from start time.

Yes, I moved tables each time I was called.

Thanks for sharing. Very helpful. I was going to come on Saturday night but saw the 1/3 2/5 lists 70+ deep and did not feel like wasting 2 hours. Definitely, would love an ability to call in to get on a wait list but understand that it may not be an option for now.

That is not my experience at all. I have arrived on Saturdays around 2/3/4 pm and had no problem getting seated in the 1/3 and 2/5 games within an hour -- often much sooner than that. (The 2/5 list does seem to move more slowly than 1/3.)

FWIW I just checked in and the person checking in told the guy in front of me that they were unusually short of dealers today "probably because everyone took off for Mardi Gras..."

Actually not ridiculous at all. If you think an underage person is drinking in your bar, do you wait till he finishes his beer before you ask for ID?

Yes. That's me being a little bit dramatic as I wasn't in the middle of a big hand or anything but I did have cards. And to be fair to the security guards they likely don't know the first thing about poker so I don't expect them to understand why the timing is relevant.
