What?
You mean you are going to run the room like a (gasp) business?
How dare you!

a word of caution for anyone that cares about such things: i haven't been carded many times so far (guess i really am getting old) and when i have they've only given a cursory glance at my VA license.

Until yesterday, when i guess i looked at him the wrong way because the security guy said "he got me", took my license and put it in their scanner machine, which is not handheld like the MD Live ones, i saw a gigantic clear picture of my license on the monitor, and it's unclear if it's kept on file and/or shared with other parties like law enforcement. Not that i have anything to hide in that area, but i did not consent to having my ID temporarily confiscated and scanned into a system.

I don't expect a reply from JG on this subject and i did not press the issue at the time with MGM staff because i had to get back for the tourney.

They have it if you get an mlife card. Your mlife card links up with your ID. I wouldn't worry too much about it, as your cell phone / computer - almost anything you carry on you is a tracking device.

Any time you go onto a casino you consent to being monitored and videoed. I assume having your id scanned is pointless as with security software, the cameras can identify who you are any ways.

For what its worth, found out about a rule change regarding who shows 1st when checked down on the river.
Previously, if the river was checked down and no one immediately revealed their hand , the order to show cards started at 1st position and proceeded to the button. One of the dealers this afternoon stated that as of today the rule was changed so that if the river goes check-check, the last raiser on one of the previous streets would be the 1st to show.

If this is true I hope Johnny will reconsider this change. Years ago all the poker rooms had the last aggressor rule but rooms are trending towards worst position. All the poker rooms in this area are doing worst position so changing this will create a ton of confusion, esp since you've been doing it this way for over a month now.

I disagree, I think worst position is a sloppy and lazy way of doing things.

I hope this isn't true. Usually people don't keep track of the last aggressor on previous streets and it causes the game to slow down/arguments figuring out who should show first. In a perfect world it would work but in actuality it causes a lot of problems. (If it's 5 way to the flop after a pfr and checked down i guarantee you people will not showdown accurately and it will either be really annoying or cause people to show prematurely to speed up the game... not that people shouldn't just show out of turn in that situation but there's always 1 who waits until its his turn and if there's 2 or more of them then its a disaster and your just making it worse with this rule)

That is not true. Charles Town still uses last aggressor.

Last aggressor is my preference. Borgata uses that if I recall correctly as of about two years ago.

Today is actually a federal holiday in the D.C. metro area (Inauguration Day). All (non-essential) federal offices in the area are closed...

It rarely causes a problem in C-Town.

What causes problems at showdown is the players who are limping 70% of their hands, then checking it down in family pots, then waiting to show a likely winner because someone might get a read on them.

Dude, we already know you're playing junk, just turn over your damn SPNK that you didn't have the guts to bet so we can get on with the game.

I prefer last agressor, but whatever Johnny wants works for me.

After the last aggressor shows who has to show next? 2nd to last aggressor? Then 3rd to last aggressor? Does that all have to be kept track of?

You guys are over-thinking this. The next guy to show is the one who wants the pot.

I like to have plenty of black chips on me to make rebuying/topping off easier for everyone involved. But when I tried to color down a pumpkin at the cage last night, the cashier said they're no longer allowed to color down chips at the cage. Is this true, and if so, why? It's ridiculous to not be able to trade out chips at the *cashier* of all places. I guess I'm forced to do it at the table now, and add to the workload of dealers and chip runners.

You can color them down... it was a misinterpretation by the cage...

WSOP and WPT use positional disadvantage as well. It's the only accurate way to keep track of who should show first.
