I have no problem with it, provided that if a another player at the table wanted to see it, they would be permitted....

If I'm not mistaken they even provide printed out sheets at some baccarat games to help players keep track of the game.

I have no problem with someone taking notes at the table (providing they don't slow the game down in the process), or reviewing notes in between hands. But not during a hand. Unless it is a note similar to the one Steve Dannamen (sp?) read out to the table during the WSOP main event many years ago.

But Didace makes a good point: there are notes, and there are notes.

During the hand in question? I kind of like that ruling, actually.

After discussion with the management team, we have decided that "push/fold" charts, and any resource that advises a player how to play a specific hand will not be permitted during the play of a hand. This includes accessing a cell phone, looking at a chart or any other notes, etc.

Per our team meeting yesterday, we spoke about several outstanding issues on rules etc. The following changes have been implemented:

1. Running it twice (RIT) will be permitted in all Time rake PLO and NL Hold'em games. Our state regs allow it, under certain conditions. The players must be heads up, one player must be all-in, and we can only run the turn and/or river twice. We cannot run an entire board twice. Players will be allowed to RIT on pots where the betting action began multi-way on a specific betting round, but ended in a heads up pot with one player all-in.

2. Players in time-raked games will be allowed 90 minutes for a dinner break. After the 90 minute threshold has passed, they will be picked up from the game. The third man walking rule will apply to keep the game from getting short.

I dont have strong feelings about this personally, but I think you'll likely get a lot of push back from players on this one.

Much appreciated. We will be tinkering with the structure to make it a little faster eventually. The goal is to have a 6-7 hour event for a 10 player field....

Do you believe everything a poker player tells you?!?!

Perhaps, but it is a good rule. The grinders that don't give a rip about politeness and who get up for an hour, then come back, immediately rack up and leave piss me off. So do people who don't pay attention to the game state and get up whenever they feel like it even when two others are walking.

I agree with you. I just know that our 60 game is prolly short as often as it's full - will be big culture shift is all.

Hey Johnny,

Small issue: I normally call in ahead of time to get myself on the 5/5 and 10/25 lists, but normally the phone will ring and ring for 1-2 minutes while I'm waiting, and nobody will answer. I call back a few minutes later, and it's the same issue. This happens about 75% of the time I travel to MGM.

Thanks for these changes. Please reconsider the bolded, there's no need to have a 3rd man walking rule in time-raked games. This would give players room to selectively enforce who gets picked up for it in the bigger games.

Shouldn't this be a dealer-enforced rule?

Actually, it wouldn't.... It protects the bigger games from breaking. The players wouldn't have the ability to decide who leaves. The dealer must inform the player who is leaving that they will be third man walking. They will be made aware that if they miss the big blind twice, they get picked up...

If you allow 3rd man walking there will be a lot of wiggle room for regs to manipulate who does/doesn't get picked up. It will take some time for the dealers to all be reminding the players in practice. If the dealer doesn't inform the player then that allows the regs to educate the players who they don't want picked up before they leave and just sit in silence if it's a player they don't want in the game. When it comes to the player actually getting picked up: if it's someone who they want in the game they can say whatever they need to say to the dealer("I'm texting him right now, he's just going to smoke etc") to keep it from ever getting escalated to the floor. Again if it's someone they don't want in the game they can either sit in silence and allow the dealer/floor to do their job OR they can tell the dealer to call the floor over once they missed the bb twice.

I know you have a lot of faith in your team and expect them to do the right thing in all cases but you'll always have green dealers and the floor will be not always have time to deal with everything. A lot of dealers are intimidated dealing bigger games and are going to do what the players ask the large majority of the time.

Is it a better alternative for the game to allow games to become 6 handed or less and break? Not advocating the angle, but what is the alternative?
