In the main entrance by the elevators, first left, walk ~100 feet, escalator on right, drops you off at the far end of he poker room. Maybe an extra 500 feet beyond what you walk now, using the elevator.

I was there last night and asked the guard about it when I left at 5 am today. Metal detectors were still not present but he said they were supposed to be installed today. I mentioned the escalator that has been out of service for about a month. He said that would be fixed too. (Not putting any money on that.)

Metal detectors are in today. Creating long lines at the entrances since only a couple are open.

Escalators still broken…

A little less convenient but not too bad.

heh, when they go to fix the escalators they will likely have to rope them off for at least a few hours if not longer. that will be a fun catch-22, haha.

Man what a world we live in now. Back in the days where AC was the closest option for poker, had to drive for hours one way just to be able to play some cards. Now driving 45 min and using an escalator can derail the whole trip.

I just went to the home games.

But, yeah . . . maybe MGM has some master plan for the room, but the only food option is gone, now the only primary entrance is gone . . . just going the wrong direction for me. Hopefully there is some grand vision we don't know about yet.

The 2nd floor elevator was also safer, you can easily tell if anyone is following you because you have the elevator to yourself when you get in. Pretty annoying but they save themselves like a whopping $20/hr on a security guard. I did always find it a bit weird of a setup though, the smokers will probably be happy to not have to go thru a security checkpoint.

So the new promo looks very promising, so of course its when im out of town for 2 of the 3 weekends.

The one part I dont understand, it sounds like the table that gets the highest hand for the hour gets a table wide payout, so if someone hits a royal flush at a table that isnt full, wouldnt everyone just want to table change into the empty seats so they can get a payout at the end of the hour? Or maybe im misunderstanding it?

Back when AC was the only option, I played maybe 3-4 times a year. With MGM 45 minutes away, I have been playing about 1-2 times a month because it is that much easier to get to. But, because it is in Maryland and I'm in Northern VA, I only play on the weekends because of traffic in the evenings (and I work during the day). I also have back problems and use a walker so having the entrance to the poker room right off the elevator rather than having to walk through the casino was a factor in how much effort it took to get to the poker room and will now factor in to how much I want to go play poker for any future trips.

+1 Perfect post. The complaining is ridiculous, you have promo grinders in this thread even saying they are worried about being followed and mugged for having to change up their walk to the poker room lol. Remember, 2/5nl grinders that are afraid of their own shadow are below old white ladies blowing their SS checks playing Frankenstein on the casino mugging power rankings.

I have to give MGMNH credit, they have made some great changes lately, hope they keep it up. Staff casino-wide have been a lot more helpful too.

What great changes? (Genuine question)

2008 join date and you’re asking about changes, you’re smarter than that W0X0F. I’d list 5 or 6 of them but since you already expressed you are clueless to the changes, I won’t blow up the edges. It is kind of a rule here on the deuce but of course you already knew that.

MGMNH is still the worst and probably most dangerous casino in America (never forget they electrocuted that little girl and ruined her life) maybe some Ameristar or some other Midwest casino is worse, but mgmnh is up there.

The corpo sycophants sure come out of the woodwork when something bad is announced.

Same guy who says the casino is the most dangerous in the country says i shouldnt have any concern about being mugged, and same guy who says the casino has improved, provided zero improvements but mentioned the girl who got electrocuted and how dangerous it is. Great list bud.

I personally dont have a ton of worry about being mugged, but thats because I take necessary safeguards, and have read posts on here about what to do to avoid it, one of which is to try and take an elevator by yourself. I have a young male friend who has been followed home by a mugger (he fortunately noticed in his neighborhood and went back onto the highway and lost him), you arent immune to it, especially when youre carrying significant cash compared to the old ladies you referenced.

Also i thought this was a good promo but its not very good. Sorry for informing people about a significant portion of their winrate, label me a promo grinder idc

Apparently I’m not smarter than that. Still no idea what great changes you’re alluding to.

Been playing off and on since they started. Only positive changes I can think of were: adding a bucket of water bottles (because the drink servers are so bad and unreliable) and moving from the center of the casino to upstairs in its own area (debatably a good thing, although the slot machines upstairs are also way too loud).

Hell we still have this completely archaic system of having to request a specific amount of comps to be added to our card before we go to use them.

Between MGM, Charles Town, and Live, MGM is my least favorite room.

Not only has the poker room entrance closed, the one by the old Starbucks has too. They're funnelling all traffic in through the two entrances on either end of the building that now have metal detectors. Boo

The escalator was fixed Friday.

All the cardplayers are gonna be getting a little extra cardio before they settle into a nice productive poker session

They closed snacks so we dont have to smell all the food they are burning anymore!

Sorry, I try to turn them down but some of the louder machines don’t have working volume buttons and sadly because of that, now even squares are figuring out the plays. It’s in everyone’s best interest to quiet them down, hopefully slot techs figure it out soon.

Is the poker room busy Sun-Thurs? Thinking about going during weekday daytime (usually go Friday/Saturday) but see only 4-6 tables for 1/3 weekday mornings on Bravo app. Is it pretty empty outside of the weekends?

I dont feel like 4-6 tables is empty. How many tables did you plan to play at?

If your concern is the games are tough, that has not been my experience. I think mgm has a lot of pretty tough weekend warriors, so the tuesday morning games if anything seem to be a lot of bleeders and fewer of both whales and strong players. Of course with fewer tables its a lot more inconsistent.

I'm going to Nat Harbor tomorrow. If I step into the elevator and some kid starts to piss his pants, I'll make sure to say "Hello" to you.
