I love how every time I play at MGM NH I have to deal with staff who struggle to complete the most basic requirements of their job. MGM must have a quota to hire a certain number of people who were born cognitively impaired.

Hey, watch it, most of the staff are very nice people. I think the current staff is actually among the best and friendliest we've had in terms of customer service.

Sometimes I wish rulings were more consistent, however. It often depends on who answers the floor call. And sometimes it takes a little too long to fill vacant seats. Overall though, very happy with the level of service right now.

The cognitively impaired comment was uncalled for but you’re living in lala land. I also never specified who I was talking about so it’s amusing that you instantly assume I’m talking about the floors. Furthermore, being a nice person has very little bearing on their competence at work and being nice should be the bare minimum when you work in customer service and hospitality.

Not sure when it's starts but they are increasing the promo drop to $3 instead of $2 just like MD Live

It’s been talked about in the room so fairly sure it’s happening. Only remedy is to not play jackpot games if you care. It sucks but that is the direction every casino is going.

Guess 5+3 is better than 6+2 which I felt would happen first. Wouldn’t be surprised if 6+3 is next though

In all seriousness I’m surprised it’s taken this long for the rake to increase. I doubt the increased jackpot drop will do anything except draw more promo chasers in.

The thing i dont understand about the 5+3 is i sorta figured id be happy about it for Md Live cuz i never play there and i figure the extra dollar might go towards a big promo that would justify the drive, yet i feel like mgm NH friday am and saturday am promos cant be beat. Md Live promos just look like a +2 drop to me.

Hopefully if they do implement it the extra dollar doesnt go towards promos 6-10 pm fri and sat cuz i just never play at those times.

Say what you will, but those friday and saturday promos probably make the net rake near zero or even negative during those timeframes. Great for more casual players with flexible schedules such as myself. Im pretty sure +2 is wayyy better than +0 for me anyway, so i personally cant complain about +3 even if it does get used for promo times i dont play, cuz i come out way ahead on promo drop EV

If everything I hear is true, yes. I believe they're just waiting for the current bad beat to hit before implementing the rake changes.

I personally have run incredibly hot when it comes to promos and I’m most certainly positive when it comes to the jackpot drop. The MGM promos have been great under the newish management.

I have a feeling they want the BBJP to increase faster as we haven’t really seen a 100k+ jackpot since the room went 8 handed and that really drives in traffic even when all other promos are off.

The bad beat is now frozen. After this one hits it will be $30k always. Never less never more

I actually don't. Large bad beats take money out of the poker community. Look at Pittsburgh and Detroit. Those mega ones were hit by out of town players. That money is gone. Promo money stays in the room. Mgms hits so often it rarely gets big anyway. Promo money is essentially rakeback

Does anyone know if there is a rake change for 5 card Omaha?

Yeah i dont hate it either, but i guess itll all come down to whether the extra $ will go towards good promos or stupid (>$600 or regback) promos.

It also seems like for now we just pay more rake to no benefit until they get some $ saved up, cuz promos look about the same as usual this month.

The 3rd dollar doesn’t drop until $60 at 1/3 and $100 at 2/5 so it’s not terribly egregious.

A couple dealers told me better promos will be coming in March so we will see

Wow, that is great news if true. Live the third dollar comes out at 30. To me while I still would prefer they not do it, that makes a big difference.
