Agh yeah the app with location services on is another one. Or maybe you logged into their Wi-Fi using your (cached?) mgm credentials.

Ah thanks. Any chance you know how much playing time/rake/pit game to get comp room again. I might just have to grind some live poker again or some video poker.

The football frenzy promotion was terrible. What a let down. Why can't we do something fun - like players get to pick their own teams with a certain amount of hours played - and it can be like a survivor tournament with promo funds - or you get a free sports bet on your favorite team if you play a certain amount of hours?

It's good to see the Potomac Winter Poker Open is returning to MGM, it's been a while since we've had a good tournament series here.

I deleted the posts related to an alleged collusion situation that included images of the alleged players involved, and some names. These types of posts are similar to ones where a player at a venue posts about someone not paying back a debt. In both types of posts, we usually have the person making the serious allegation using a screen name rather than real name (and in this case a brand new account); we only get one side of the story; and the accused party may or may not even be aware of this forum. And in this forum we do not allow identifying information (whether images, names or descriptions) to be posted.

Often the reason given for the post is to warn other players. But in actuality, a matter of this seriousness should be brought to the attention of the venue management. Given the confidence the poster has in his evidence, the room management would likely take appropriate action. And I have no doubt that word of this incident will travel faster amongst the regs in person versus this forum.

But since internet posts can take on a life of their own, with no later clarifying information attached, we do not want our forum to be a source of accusations identifying specific players, nor to become a "peoples court". I appreciate the usually well-meaning intent of posts like these. But we don't have the ability nor the interest in having to try and verify the accuracy of such posts, and determine their intentions.

So for those reasons I have deleted them. Please refrain from any further posts on this topic. If you would like to discuss the overall policy concerning these types of posts, feel free to comment in the V&C moderation thread.

And to clarify, if someone wanted to make a post about the fact that they witnessed collusion, and players confronted them, what the room management did, etc that is fine, as long as no personally identifying information is used about anyone involved.

Thanks.

Word from management was apparently (and this is hearsay) that these three players will be permitted to play at mgm in the future, just not at the same table - despite cheating the other players out of thousands of dollars by signaling their hand strength using their chips. Once confronted by the other players in the game, they stopped playing hands and left shortly thereafter.

Yea.... no faith in the management at mgm. They were not banned and need to be posted in a public forum for anyone who could possibly be playing with them in the future. MGM doesn't care about collusion and the extent of their punishment will be not allowing them to play at The same table. Management lacks a spine in this spot because it's a gaming board thing as well. Situations like this are the reason why angle shooters, colluders, and cheaters are allowed to run rampant in MGM and other card rooms. The priority of the poker room is to keep games going so they can generate money. They don't care about player interactions nearly as much as they should.

Unfortunately we need to name and shame as much as possible just to get the word out because it will be swept under the rug otherwise.

I’m genuinely curious what the smoking gun was for these cheaters to get caught…

I’ve had 2 or 3 incidents over the years, even asked to see losing hand in a couple incidences which makes myself look bad.

I’m convinced it happens a lot. Usually a 3rd player opens up the action when their buddy has the nuts.

I had nut flush in one example and villain had straight flush and villains friend is reopening action when it was checked around on the turn and he was last to act. I know the guy is pretty tight and I’m worried about him having straight flush but the other player has it so my head was spinning thinking something’s up.

I suspected they were up to no good because they were winning big but were terrible poker players, but I only played with them for a few hours. Anyway, one reg who played longer with them started playing close attention to them and noticed they were signaling hand strength with their chips by stacking them a certain way or pulling them back for example. Once he spotted the pattern and alerted the other regs, it became totally obvious to everyone what was going on. They told the floor, and after a while nothing was done, so the regs called them out and they quit the game. Have not seen them back since then.

Ended up with family out of town for the holiday and thinking of getting some hands in.
Anyone know what the scene is like at MGM on thanksgiving day/night?

It’s certainly possible that players are colluding. And it will create a slight edge. But collusion won’t make “bad players win big.” It’s not like being a super user.

Whenever you bust.

Sorry, I couldn't help myself.

It ends somewhere between 11:30pm and 1:30am depending on the field size and whether or not there is a chop.

Good news: Snacks is back open, yay.
Bad news: They now serve the worst pizza I've ever tasted. And in college I used to know a place where I could buy a whole pizza for $4. That pizza was way better than whatever Snacks is serving.

But, for real, I love that it's back open. Just launch that pizza into the sun. (And bring back the teriyaki bowls, plz.)
