Re: MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino (Oxon Hill, MD); FAQ in OP

Requesting that the 2/5 section is not moved right next to the manics at the Racebook. Please either move it back to its original area or better yet host the games on the platform next to the 5/T. It makes sense to have 2/5 and 5/T next to each other so people can scope out each game and move more fluidly between the two limits. This also makes more sense than having 4/8 limit on the platform next to the 5/T. I think there would be better overall organization having one floor dedicated to the platform section that exclusively handles 2/5 table changes as well as 5/T time management.

Also can something be done about the overbearing urine problem on P4 of the parking garage? It has been 10x worse than the worst subway systems lately.

Agreed on putting 2/5 next to 5T

For everyone complaining about long lines at the cage: It makes a lot of sense to keep chips on your person, take them home with you and return with them and never bother with the cage.

Just asking...

So, presumably at some point youd like to use what they represent... currency... for other uses in the broader economy, how would you suggest facilitating?

I would advise not to take chips home in today's world. You never know when you might show up and the casino's shut down again. Especially going into the "flu" season (and election). If you don't mind holding onto them for months, go for it.

The cage has actually been much better as of late.

I don't know many 2/5 players who would suddenly decide to play 5/10 upon being seated next to the bigger game.... But I agree it doesn't make sense to have 4/8 limit up there, that's for sure!

I am no where near east coast.
But, after old 30/60 75/150 etc (high limit sections of poker rooms) and upon advent of no limit 2/5 and 5/10, it's as if joints uniformly went - "DON'T MAKE 'EM FEEL SPECIAL, SO YOU DON'T HAVE TO TREAT THEM AS SPECIAL".

When a new game starts, the players are coming from 2/5, so instead of walking across the room to put your card down and then going back to your game only to wonder why the game never goes, now everyone who wants to play is right there. It will be much easier to get it going.

First time back since Jan, what’s a good time to arrive on Saturday morning to guarantee a seat for the first lucky table drawing at 0915? Used to get there an hour early, but seeing long waitlists on Bravo lately.

So basically... cash them out later?

Sounds like you're just advocating to go to the crowded cage later instead of going to the crowded cage now.

Except now I have to make another trip back to the casino just to cash out.

Doesn't quite seem logical to me...

I think you're completely missing the point which is this: if you visit the casino frequently, you don't have to cash out your chips every trip. Use a box and then visit the cage when you need the cash and/or the lines are short.

If there are other cashiers on your way out of the casino, you could take your chips out of the poker room and stop by one of the other cashiers when you’re leaving.

I'm not missing the point at all. I'm questioning why the advice is to leave a place I'm already at, and come back later, purely to get cash for chips that are already mine?

If I'm using a box, it means I'm practically never going to cash out the chips. I'm merely keeping them there and retrieving them to put into play in the casino. I know plenty of people who have boxes in casinos, and I could count on one hand the number of times they actually went to their box with the intent of converting chips to cash. The whole point of a box is they don't want to walk around a casino, or a parking garage, with cash. They go to the box, get out the chips, put the chips in play at whatever game they prefer, then put them back in the box. Rinse, repeat.

Like pretty much all examples you guys are giving involves trading an inconvenience now (waiting in line at the cage) for an inconvenience later (driving back to the casino and waiting in line at the cage to retrieve chips). If the second action has no wait, MAYBE I came out ahead. But if the lines are pretty much always crowded, there's pretty much no scenario possible where coming back later costs me anything more than my own time.

What they are saying is that you don't need to cash out EVERY time you play. You could cash out, say, 1 out of every 5 trips for example, to save waits at the cage. But this assumes you visit frequently and/or keep your poker roll separate from your life roll... assumptions that just aren't true for many players.
