Johnny,

I asked a waitress for a drink about an hour ago.

I politely asked a dealer who just swiped in to call for service.

What kind of service?

Beverage service.

I can't call for beverage service.

Huh?????

Johnny-I was salty on the food service yesterday, but think that's on the overall casino. Pokerz were fine and staff of the room cares. It will work out. Onward and upward.

So sad. I didn't have the idea to call for service here...

I see a bunch of food runners on the other side of the room and then the floor tells me that they are short handed tonight. Terrible service tonight.

Edit: Terrible service by the floor and food runners, the dealers have all been great

I had a similar issue earlier today - asked the floor for a food runner. Was told they'd send one over - never showed. Okay no big deal, I decided to take a break and get the food myself. Asked at the front podium for an $8 voucher - floor expressed a desire not to argue with people so printed it for me despite letting me know they are only supposed to be given out in increments of five.

Is this increments of five rule correct? According to the floor if the food runner had shown then they can get the comp for the amount needed to the dollar but I cannot? Seems a bit silly but perhaps I am missing the rationale.

Overall very pleased with the poker room (those chairs are the GOAT)

Eating food at a poker table is one of the most disgusting inconsiderate things allowed in a poker room and it should be banned. The cards chips and tables are covered in bacteria and dirt and people want to at the same time eat and handle some of the most dirty items in the entire casino.

No i dont want the food that falls out of your mouth and inevitably ends up on your hands and the table and everywhere else any where near me. I dont want to watch you stuff your face and choke down your food while you are tapping the table. Take a break and go eat. Poker will be there when you are done. I promise.

i grossly agree with you but there are some items-- soup, some salads with limited components, and some others-- that are a little more 'clean' to eat. but you're right, the vast majority seems to be greasy sandwiches and sides which can feel downright disrespectful, really. but altering poker players' diets or limiting their options any more than it already is just isn't going to happen.

lol odd they would make an ass backwards comp system even worse by making you take comps in increments of 5.

with that said i hope to check out the room bw christmas and new years

With the general overall hygiene level of players in the poker room, what people are eating is usually the least of my concerns.

I tend not to mind soups/salads, hot dogs or other things that aren't a complete mess. People that eat like a slob are usually already slobs anyway and - as noted above - probably arent coming into the game with the cleanest hands around.

Traffic okay but long WL at the poker room. Shorter WL is in PLO but do expect 50 to 100 for 1/3 and 2/5 NL.

Hi Johnny,

I think we should get the comp voucher print in the back instead of the front of the room. Yesterday, I tried to get a comp voucher print and ended up waiting with 20 other people in the front who are waiting to sign up for the game. When I asked for a $ 45 comp voucher and was told they'll need a supervisor to sign off for over $ 35 and I ended up getting $ 35 since I only have 30 mins to get a voucher and go get food. Getting a print from the back room is more efficient and how come you can't use chips to pay for food at the table?

I play regularly at Foxwoods which is one of the few rooms where you CAN'T eat at the table. This results in many games from 5:30-7:30 every night being 5-6 handed because the dealers/floor can't manage all of the 3rd (and 4th and 5th) man walking rules in a large room. It's literally at nearly every table during dinner time.

Why do you care about villains eating bacteria? Instead recognize that a player gives off many tells when balancing their food intake with their poker, and be thankful your game isn't breaking or 5-handed because everyone left to go to dinner.

This is why you enforce a strict policy of picking players up after 30 minutes away, and encourage use of the dinner list instead.

Enforcing strict policy sounds great in theory. Executing effectively while juggling the other 12 responsibilities is nearly impossible to do on a consistent basis in a busy room. Allowing food at the table solves this problem while also being convenient which works in nearly every room I've played in.

I played at MGM yesterday and last weekend. I had a good experience both times. Johnny has done a good job addressing issues that have been brought up. The room is bright, spacious, comfortable and there is a good mix of regular players and casual players.

My big concern is the upcoming plan to charge for parking. This may not deter people from northern Virginia who's travel time will be reduced significantly. However a large part of the player pool is from Montgomery county and northern PG county. Where I live, I can get to either HSB, MDL or MGM in 35-40 minutes without traffic. When HSB first opened they were quite busy but for various reasons, many players migrated back to MDL. For now, MGM is a novelty so interest will be high. I'm afraid, that if MGM does not continue to value it's customers, those with a choice could go where they perceive it to be more player-friendly.

Johnny, Do you know if there is some type of plan to allow for comped parking if we play for a set time like 2 or 3 hours? Otherwise, I can see many players migrating back to MDL with it's free parking as well as their promotions and loose games.

IMO I wouldn't count on it unless you are Pearl or above, at least that's MGMs current policy. No reason to believe they wont at least follow the policy they have in Las Vegas which is $10 self parking - unless you're Pearl or above or have the MGM credit card.

http://www.mgmresorts.com/parking/

For me its all the more reason to take Uber or Lyft over. Coming from VA though its another 3-4 gallons of gas round trip to MDL so no reason to go there just because of a parking fee.

But just playing poker for a couple hours isn't going to get free parking IMO.
