looks like this month's avg payout will be less than $300/person?

but the gambling junkies in the room would probably like this gimmick more.
Average payout is about $285, plus there's one less lucky table drawing. These gimmicks slow down the game and make more work for the supervisors. Whoever had the idea to do 10 lucky seats every hour all day Mondays and Tuesdays should be shot.

JG or other staff,

looks like the schedule posted for the upcoming PPO is missing info or got posted with bad info. particularly for event 8 and event 9. there is no listed restart day for event 8. also seems kinda ambitious to try to run back 100ks during the week so maybe its a typo altogether?

can someone please clarify so we can start planning accordingly?

Sucks to see that Fish is closing. Apparently I'm in the minority but I really liked the place.

WTOP twitter feed, closing date January 15th.

---

Fish by José Andrés, the celebrity chef’s seafood restaurant in MGM National Harbor casino and resort, will close by Jan. 15.

Andrés’ restaurant group, ThinkFoodGroup, and MGM made a “mutual decision” to close the restaurant “as part of the two companies’ evolving business strategies,” according to a statement.

MGM has not yet said what will replace Fish, which occupied a prominent space with a large terrace overlooking the Potomac River. The restaurant also included the five-seat chefs counter, dubbed the “Maryland Fry Bar.”

Another chef with celebrity status, Marcus Samuelsson, closed his restaurant, Marcus,” in the venue in 2018 after one year in business. MGM replaced the soul food restaurant with Osteria Costa, one of its in-house Italian restaurant concepts. The company may look to replace Fish with another seafood concept.

ThinkFoodGroup still has one location of Fish, located in Atlantis Paradise Island resort in the Bahamas.

It's been 3+ years and whoever is in charge of scheduling still hasn't learned what a holiday weekend is.

agreed - ridiculous that combined there are a 100+ people waiting and there are at least 10 vacant tables sans dealers

was told by supervisor, staffing is done by an electronic virtual assistant which apparently doesn’t know what a holiday means for attendance in a poker room 😕

You're absolutely right. Even if you moved here from somewhere else, after three years you would think you'd know how a federal holiday affects the DC area.

(smh)

Had a last minute change in family plans today, thought about running over. Bravo said 25 of 46 tables open, 100+ on the 1/3 list, 44 on the 2/5 list. And twenty open tables? Nope.

The excuse they keep using is there are always call outs on these holidays. Simply look at past data to factor in number of average call outs and compensate for it by overbooking dealers to come in. Not that hard.

Also I'd like to vote against having these hot name drawings every 10 minutes. It creates an excess of mic announcement noise, it slows games continuously by people staring up at the screen, and gives the floors too much busywork paying them out detracting them from more important duties. Once an hour hot tables are the best.

Staffing of the poker room is the responsibility of the director of poker.

Bathroom update 01/27:

2/4 urinals are out of order with a 3rd covered in someone's puke and the 4th being the miniature one with urine pooled underneath to where it's unaccessible. It's astonishing management hasn't addressed this utterly embarrassing issue with as much negative feedback as they've gotten. Subway bathrooms are much nicer.

Update: the puke-filled urinal is now filled to the actual brim with urine. Sickening.

100% agree on the bathrooms. I was there earlier today and was revolted. One working urinal for the entire poker room.

Meanwhile Live has two dozen urinals and a dozen stalls, always clean and in working order.

I hate to complain but this is really beyond the pale, and the issue continues to get worse.

Until you vote with your feet, you need to remember what Albert Einstein said about insanity.

It’s doing the same thing over and over again and expecting a different result.

While I agree it is utterly befuddling that MGM hasn’t corrected this problem, is it really so hard to just walk down the escalator and use one of the nearby restrooms on the casino floor? In my experience, they are typically in fine condition.

This has not been my experience. I use most of the restrooms downstairs and they are all poorly maintained.

That sounds utterly disgusting and indefensible.

I would open a new twitter, take pictures, and post them with MGMNH tagged. They probably care much more about their reputation on twitter than here, I imagine that will get a better response.

These days they are sending a survey requesting feedback for my visit.

I took my time and explained with some colorful language. Ended it with the comment “Looking at these issues, if you were in my shoes, would you be willing to recommend this room to others?”.

If you guys received similar surveys please complete them with as much detail as you can provide.

Having internet issues again.

Played the last 3 days. Is it just me or has the Wi-Fi been unable to connect?

I stopped trying to connect to the Internet in the poker room more than one year ago. My cellular connection works great.

I had the exact same idea but so far have been too lazy to implement

I took my business to ML a few months ago and it makes me mad every time I drive past the place. As mentioned, the ML bathrooms are kept spotless and are far bigger - maybe MGM only wants to pay to have them cleaned once a day? I have no idea what the deal is. On top of that the ML bathrooms are far bigger - how is it possible that such a small bathroom is so impossible for MGM to keep clean?

I should have taken pics when I was last there but it was one of those things where I wasn't going to start taking pics in the bathroom. And honestly - I'm not sure how much MGM would have cared anyway even if you did tweet it out.

As far as holiday staffing goes - thats exactly how airlines book flights. They know on X day and X time that on average say 8 people cancel their tickets. So they sell 8 or 9 more. Chances are they fill the flight and there are no issues, at worst, they are oversold by one or two, still have a full flight and have to payoff a couple of oversold customers. Frustrating as heck that mid afternoon on a holiday there were twenty open tables and huge lists.

Are they still posting tournament results to Hendon Mob? I've noticed nothing since the end of Oct 2019 has been posted. Is just a normal holiday lag or have they stopped reporting them?

thx.
