The $500 Veterans Day event is listed as:

$430 prize pool
$40 house revenue
$25 staff

$5 - tournament guarantees and tournament leaderboard

Is the $5 for guarantees something that goes to fund other tournaments? Never noticed this before so not sure what its for.

Also - does "staff" cover dealers?

TIA

For those who are wondering what a monte carlo board is, here’s the link from 2009 on the same subject:

https://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/2...ackpot-616234/

In simple terms they will designate a set of hands and their payouts. Once the hand hits its removed from the list. The list keeps running till the last hand is hit and start all over again.

Chasing Quads (graveyard shift):

Every time you hit Quads you will be given a ticket. They have a drawing at 10:30 AM next day where one of those tickets will win $500.

These two promos are for graveyard shift.

I am glad these don’t apply to day time where it would be hard to explain to make everyone understand.

I don’t see a point of making a promotion so complicated. In a traditional Monte Carlo Board each hand has a prize associated. You can only win it one time per board. MGM has twisted this where you win a ticket for winning a hand on the board. So instead of winning some money you win a “hope” to win some money in the next day drawing.

Bravo says for the Monday promotion: “The top two high hands every hour initiates lucky table for every player dealt at that table when the high hand was hit.” No further stipulation is mentioned.

I was just at a 2/5 table where we hit two high hands and no other table hit one for the period. The floor then took away one of our high hands, saying they’d only pay us for one. They showed us a promo flyer which has different language than what’s on Bravo: “The top two tables to hit high hands get paid” (or something to that effect).

Pretty disappointing that whoever’s in charge of this stuff is putting out conflicting versions of the promo, and that when there’s a discrepancy, they choose to go with the wording that way fewer people are reading (flyer vs. Bravo) and which allows them to skimp on the payout.

I agree that, if there is a conflict, as you say that there is, whoever is in charge of this stuff should get his/her act together.

Lot of dealers are oblivious to the promo terminology. As an example they were confused about how a Monte Carlo Board works. I believe there is no information session or a meeting to keep the dealers informed.

This would be as eazy fix if MGM allows it. Have a designated poker communication representative for Bravo, Twitter and Hard Copy information. This will eliminate conflicts in information. We need a person similar to TD J at the other place.

I know this information falls on deaf ears and there won’t be any change in the foreseeable future. Till a change is made the players will feel they have been scammed.

Late night games have been really slow. No late night 2/5 all week, and less 1/3 tables as well.

Could be borgata is running a tourney or the late night promotions but this is the slowest i've ever seen it in 3 years.

Visited this room over the weekend, Thursday 11/7 to Sunday 11/10. I am a regular 2-5 player in Florida. Played 1-3 here, plus tried the 1-2-5 five card Omaha hi game for a bit to join friends. My thoughts and ratings on a 1 to 10 scale:

General layout and facility. 5. Not being part of the main casino I think hurts some of the action feel. The difference in the environment, particularly Friday night and Saturday night as between upstairs and downstairs was substantial.

I do think the chairs are comfortable. Did not measure them but the tables seem a tad larger than I am accustomed to. I did not feel crowded by other players at my table.

The flip side is true between the tables. Sometimes very crowded. In that respect the layout seems somewhat haphazard. No rhyme or reason to some tables being angled one way, other tables another way. And I kept getting banged into by players, dealers, etc., moving between tables. This was particularly true in the section for the 1-2-5 game. In 45 minutes I must have been bumped or hit 10 times by the player directly behind me, some OMC Big O who clearly did not care that he was making my life miserable for that short time.

Action: 9. At 1-3 table Saturday morning when they have the promotion, a super aggro guy sat to my right and raised every hand. Saw him put in $150 pre with 6 10. Of course he won with a flush. He ran it up to $1500 or so. I had to leave for a bit, came back an hour later, and he was dusting off the last $60 of that stack with who knows what.

Once he left preflop raises were more standard in my experience, $12 to $15. But still lots of action. I must say that I cannot recall seeing this much 3 and 4 betting pre at low limits.

Service: 7. Now, I give the dealers an 8. By and large very competent. Friendly and helpful. I recall no significant mistakes. The cocktail service very late Thursday was fine. But other than that it was pretty bad. There were a number of times we had to wait over a half an hour just to see one, much less get them over to the table. And they seemed unhappy and irritated almost that they had to wait on us (and I tip generously which seemed to make no difference).

Restroom. 3. Conveniently located but after that kind of dismal. Everywhere I play in Florida you will see maintenance workers keeping the restrooms clean and in service close to non-stop. Rare to go in twice and not see someone. Here, I do not recall seeing a single maintenance worker the entire time, and the effects showed.

Floor and front desk staff. 8. I found them very friendly and appeared to be interested in accommodating requests, such as table transfers and the like. I did not encounter any major controversies over action or pots so I cannot comment on quality of rulings.

Food. 7. I ate at the Snacks place immediately next door. Had a slice of pizza which looked great but was actually kind of bland to the taste. I'd give it a lower rating number, but a friend had a sandwich delivered table side and he thought it was very good so I am giving a higher number than my own experience.

Promotion. 9. I was there for the table draw on Saturday, including in the morning. It was clearly a great driver of business and worked well, generating a lot of excitement. I'd give it a 10 except that I felt like some high hand bonuses in regular hours might have complimented it well. I do plan to mention this table drawing promo to staff down here as I think it could be mixed in with high hand promos and rec players would like it.

Overall, the solid action and game variety really do more than make up for any shortcomings in the other areas. If I could change anything I'd probably have them take out a table or two at the end, where the Big O and Omaha games were running. It is noticeably cramped there.

It is irresponsible of management to not ensure that the restrooms are properly maintained at all times. It is especially irresponsible to not properly maintain restrooms after having received multiple criticisms of the poorly maintained restrooms.

The room is too cramped. This is an issue of comfort and safety. If management is overly conscious of profit versus comfort and safety, maybe a third party should step in to get the job done.

Restrooms on Saturday night resembled a fraternity basement toilet at 3am during homecoming. Absolutely Disgusting. Billion dollar property several years in and still can't figure this out?? I consciously wear nubby shoes here cuz I know I'll be walking thru piss puddles.

I emailed guest services about the poker room restrooms. This is the response that I just received:
Quote:
Thank you for contacting MGM National Harbor. We regret to read of the state of our restrooms when you last visited us. We pride ourselves in creating a fun and clean gaming environment for all of our guests and are truly disappointed that this was not the case for your recent visit. We will be sure to share the state of the Men’s restrooms with our facilities team so that they may address them appropriately and truly apologize for any inconvenience that we may have caused.

This forum has literally become 4-6 people complaining about the room. There is literally no poker discussion anymore. I don’t blame him from staying away.

Thank you for asking.

He was away for one week. He, apparently, read the recent comments. I am wondering if anyone at MGMNH is going to take care of properly managing the restrooms.

And saying that "he's no longer going to post here" does not mean that he is definitely never going to post here.

The things people are complaining about have not been fixed. The room isn't bad, but it could be so much better.

The bathroom issue doesn't bother me that much because how long are you really in there? But it's still an easy fix. And if you had to do something other than piss just use the downstairs bathroom or private bathrooms which are nicer.

I think the worst problem is the cocktail service. I always bring my own water now. Apparently they don't have much control over that.

Also some of the late night dealers are really bad at dealing 5 card PLO.

I don't have the numbers, but it seems to me the room is getting less and less people. Maybe that's common with casinos, but talking around the table, the rec players are complaining a lot and they used to not do that in the past. (I've been going for 3 years).

There are problems that should be resolved.

If the problems were going to be fixed, Johnny should have no valid reason to stay away.
