Yeah, there was a large list when I got in today, but they’ve done a good job calling players and starting games. Even called the 5/10 around 2:30.

The 11am tournament scheduled today has been cancelled due to inclement weather. Everyone stay safe and warm today.

No more short rake for time-raked games...

What is “short rake?”

Or did you mean to say “short deck?”

Reduced time-rake for short handed games.

Really? Even the no-frills, minimal player comp, charity rooms in NH allow the rake to be lowered.

For timed games? What for?

I was referring to raked games only. Wasn't the prior poster stating that MGM NH was doing away with reducing the house's cut on short-handed games for both time and rake games?

No, time-raked not pot-raked.

Many rooms do half time when shorthanded too (and many do not, though these rooms tend to have rules allowing for occasional or alternating no time collection when the game is very shorthanded).

Why? To keep the game from breaking when short.

Great way for the higher limit games to start less often and break more quickly. Also seems like more hate directed at the 5/10 players as that is clearly the game this hurts the most.

Not really hate directed at anyone. It’s an economic decision more than anything. We don’t have an issue starting our high limit games, at least not because of rake.

JG,

Can we see if we can make a standard tournament for federal holidays, MLK, Presidents Day etc., and any other generic holidays.

It can be any flavour like 235 double green chip 10K. By now you know they attract good number of players. So, hitting the GTD is a non issue. We do offer 235 on weekdays and it won’t discourage many players as well.

Yeah the room isn't packed on those days and JG always has sufficient dealers to handle the lists, so why not add a tournament to the mix?

While I hate to agree with Rapini’s condescending sarcasm, the last thing federal holidays need is tournaments. The lists are always 50+ on holidays without 15 tables being used for a tournament.

On Presidents Day for 11AM 120 BI, 5K tournament they got 164 players.

Raising the buy-in might discourage a few and open more space for cash games.

What I was requesting is instead of running the daily, offer the holiday tournament.

In that case, if we must have a tournament on holidays, let's go with a High Roller Holidays tournament: $5k buy-in. That should shrink the field substantially to have more tables open for cash games.

How about a well-structured $500 tournament 1 weekend day per month. Give ML some competition.

“If we must have a tournament”. We have a tournament in place, the faster you accept that the better.

I will rest my case and discuss this with JG for better results.

Hopefully he'll consider getting rid of tournaments on those days given that he doesn't have sufficient space/staff for cash games.

And if not, then the focus should be on reducing the field as you said. Raising the buy-in significantly seems like a good start.

A progressive bounty would be awesome - not sure if you can do that in live poker but would be pretty cool if you could.

I like the $500 MDlive tourney with the $200 bounty.

Live does progressive bounty tournaments. It’s possible.

MGM National Harbor Resort & Casino (Oxon Hill, MD); FAQ in OP

What are the dates of the Main Event of the PPO, and the buyin?

Thanks
