Haha. Actually, i think they typically comp more than that for big wins (obviously under the “keep them gamblin’” strat), which makes me figure the “big win” is like 8-15k, not like 50k+

Isn’t this an issue with any casino, when it comes to paying the customers back they always have some issues.

First, I would deal with MD Gaming Comission and get the amount which rightfully belongs to her.

Once that is settled, I would sue MGM for the legal hassle and the emotinal/mental trauma.

They are dealing with one case with the little girl, I am pretty sure they don’t want to deal with another legal issue.

A lawsuit for "legal hassle and the emotional/mental trauma" if the amount owed has been paid will not go far. But I guess if your goal is to keep the court system clogged with frivolous lawsuits, that's a good way to proceed.

Everyone,
I will be out for a few weeks and won’t be answering questions on the page. One of my guys may check in from time to time. My wife and I are having our first child tomorrow, so wish me luck!

Congrats Johnny! Now you can deal with your own whiny child instead of all of us whiny children.

Good luck. In the event that you see this before you leave, is the 25k on Sunday a go, snow or shine?

It is. We will never cancel a daily event guarantee. The only time I have ever cancelled a guaranteed event in my career was prior to a hurricane shutdown at Beau Rivage. I feel strongly that if you offer a guaranteed event, you follow through. Even when a nearby competitor offers a huge guarantee that overlaps, you stay consistent and keep offering that to the players that have remained loyal.

Guys,
In lieu of safety concerns for our players and staff, we made the decision to cancel the 25K today. I feel like an idiot after my post yesterday, but it’s the best thing to do. We will have some kind of make up to the tourney players for this. Just stay warm and stay safe today. Just checked in to labor and delivery, so wish me luck!

In truth, it doesn’t cost the property, as the funds come from the promo account. Occasionally, players think that there is a financial motivation to cancel. None exists....

Thats a horrible practice. Taking money out of the promo account that was funded by cash game players to give to tourney players so the room doesnt lose money to a missed guarantee. IMO its pretty close to stealing.

Why should the cash game players get potential money taken from them because the room made a promise to tourney players? Cash game players shouldnt take the loss. They didnt make the promise.

Promo money? Its very little coming from tournaments. At least it is in my room and they only collect promo money from certain tournaments that are high hand eligible. Even those its just a few dollars per person...not $2 every single hand at every single table in the room. And the few dollars per person is to pay the high hands that they pay out in the tournaments...not to cover them when they miss a guarantee.

Im calling BS.

Are the "promo account" for the tournaments and the "Jackpot rake reserve" from cash games separated? Or is it just one big account? There are many people who play exclusively tournaments or cash

This is my point. Saying $10K per month comes in from tourney promo funds is being very vague. How much goes out per month? Are the tourney and cash game promo funds kept segregated? Are cash game promo funds used to pay tourney overlays when there isnt enough tourney promo money to cover it so the room doesnt lose money?

Im pretty sure I already know the answers to these questions which is why I said using promo money to cover tourney overlays is a horrible and unfair practice.
