In recent weeks we have been very aggressive in policing the list jumpers and seat jumpers, and have 24 hour banned at least 10 people. Is this issue improving?

Probably. But I believe that is important to continue to be aware of what is happening and what could be happening.

Everyone should continue to look for people jumping the list and changing seats without prior approval.

Snacks food needs drastic improvement. The only thing good there is the coffee and bags of chips.

I have eaten there 4 times

Unless a change is made - I will not be eating there again.

The rest of the casino has decent food options but snacks is terrible.

Yes

I have seen your staff doing a great job. Enforcing the rules over the past few weeks.

Thanks

It’s been a mixed bag for me. I’ve had really good food there and also pretty terrible food. I can’t imagine eating there if it wasn’t right next to the poker room and free.

Definitely. I noticed the large sign you now have, adjacent to the cage area, and it clearly puts the line jumpers and seat poachers on notice. I was also pleasantly surprised at the response when I requested a table change. I was told that a supervisor would come get me when a seat became available and, sure enough, someone came to inform me and point out the new table.

Thanks Johnny, for talking this problem seriously and addressing it. Are you getting positive feedback from your staff, or is there any issue with the new requirement?

Much appreciated. Glad to see that we have improved.

Its hard for me to believe you guys have so many D-bags line jumping and changing tables without permission that it had become this big of a problem.

I guess ethics and honesty are a thing of the past.

The issue of line jumping and self determined table changing carried over from when MDL was basically the only game in town. MDL was constantly at full spread with long lists. MGM was often at full spread with long lists too. Long waits tempt people to line jump. People line jump successfully often and without punishment they do it more. People see others line jump without punishment and they're tempted to do it too.

Better announcing the rules and seeing people punished for breaking the rules should help change the culture over time.

Hopefully, enforcing the policies will change the culture quickly.

I honestly don’t think there are that many people it’s just the people that do it are there all the time and have no shame.

Having signs up is better than not, and dishing out a few bans is better than not – so thank you for doing those things, Johnny - but imo these are nothing but half-measures that fall well short of solving the problem.

10 people getting banned over a few weeks can’t be more than a tiny percentage of the total violators. Personally, I’ve still never seen a single person booted when it happens in my presence, and in recent weeks I’ve continued to see people successfully claim ignorance when they’re caught, once again “winning” over a floor who backs down.

Just a few nights ago I was playing at a short-handed table. I saw a reg being sent from the front podium to our table. As he walked toward us and checked it out, he dipped over and took a seat at one of the other 2/5’s instead. Once again, I’m the only one who saw this happen. I called him out and he quickly came to our table, presumably to avoid having any floor involvement. Later he blatantly admitted to me that since the problem is so prevalent and everyone else seat-steals and does whatever they want, that he may as well do it too. And you know what? I had a hard time arguing against his point, other than on basic moral principle (which, apparently, isn’t much of a decision-making factor for many locals).

I didn’t call a floor over because I didn’t want to start some personal grudge with him. And this is the biggest problem with the system as is: the onus is still on the players to actively police this stuff (if I wasn’t there, he’d have gotten away with it), and choosing to call a floor about a seat-stealer can create unnecessary tension and personal conflict. The seat-stealer is often going to have an idea who called them out.

It’s a reasonable expectation that I shouldn’t have to make a hundred enemies just for seating policies to be enforced. And I shouldn’t have to spend any of my attention looking around for seat-stealers when I have a poker game to be focusing on (or worrying how many people are jumping me in line while I’m on the waiting list).

If you have a disease that causes nasty symptoms, you don’t just try to mitigate the symptoms indefinitely. You want to cure the disease itself so the symptons never reemerge. The current strategy does nothing more than catch/punish the *occasional* seat-stealer, aka treat the symptom. Treating the disease would be implementing a system where dealers always require verification when a new player sits (seat cards or personal floor escort).

It’s still way too easy to get away with seat-stealing if you decide you’re a POS and that’s what you want to do. All you have to do is avoid getting unlucky by having someone like me notice you.

I have a feeling that some of the posters jumping in here to say how much the issue has improved are the same players who were oblivious to the problem anyway before we pointed it out itt. It’s probably still happening all around them and they’re clueless about it. Most people are just not paying attention to this kind of thing, and that’s why it doesn’t bother them.

Just one man’s opinion – and thank you for continuing to hear my complaints out itt – but I’m of the mind that, while I’m thankful for the efforts made so far, much more needs to be done on this issue.

With the big promotion planned for Saturday (and the long wait lists that will result), I’d expect more than a few people to line-jump, hopping into any open seat they see. This will be a nightmare for players and staff to try to police with the status quo system.

And many players will probably get away with it. If they swoop into a seat a minute after it opens up (long enough that it’s not an obvious steal but before the brush stand sees the open seat and calls a player), there won’t be any kind of dispute and they will have pulled it off. Dozens of players will have gotten screwed over without even knowing it.

Can you "call in" to put yourself on waiting list, or do you have to show up in person to get on a waiting list?

Please PM me the number if "Call Ins" allowed.

Please please please staff the cage better if the brush stand is never going to be open to buy chips. Or at least have a chip transaction line. Of the 3 cashiers, two of them have been tied up doing cash advances for 5 mins while the line grows.

The illegal seat changing is as rampant as ever. Spot banning people here and there is a band-aid on a broken leg. I've seen the floor catch 5-6 people since the signs went up and didn't even give them a warning - just brushed it off with them as a misunderstanding. Saw 2 illegal transfers just today. Both regs that play every single day and clearly know the rules but don't care because there are no consequences.

It's to the point where I'm not going to continue commenting on it or even calling people out on it because the situation is hopeless and makes the players out as the bad guys for being the policemen of the room.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I saw 3 self-service table changes yesterday in a 1 hour timeframe.

I have been on the list for a game for the last two hours. There is no line st the front desk. I asked for my position on the list, and I was told “We’re not doing that.”

Credit where credit is due...

On the morning of the big promo, I’ve heard several announcements warning players not to jump the list, and multiple people have actually gotten the boot, which I’ve never seen before.

They even just announced no transfers for the day, which I think is a smart move.

The only disappointing thing: one guy at my table won the $500 hot seat and received his payment, then later the floor came back to kick him out for having stolen the seat. Not sure how/why the floor learned this so late or if they tried to take the money back, but it’s disappointing that a rightful player didn’t get a chance to win that bonus. (This likely wouldn’t happen if seat cards were in use.)

While I still think the “boot ‘em if we catch ‘em” policy isn’t a tenable long-term solution, it’s at least nice to see a serious effort being put into whatever strategies are being tried at the moment, if only for a few hours one morning.

This x 1000. It happened to me too. After waiting two hours and there being hardly a place to sit (they wouldn’t let us sit at the sports book seats), I figured I’d see where I am on the list. That would be reeeally helpful info, since I could estimate my wait time by knowing approx how many are being seated per hour. Then I could either go home and come back (I live close) or wait somewhere else on the property.

Instead, they gave me the big intercourse you and we’re stuck just standing there for hours if we don’t want to miss our seat. ****ty service indeed. Makes me want to just play at MD Live from now on.
