Did you read the proposed solution to this with the brush holding an abundance of cards for every table and each table just collecting them as they come? This eliminates the need to constantly run back and forth from table to brush anytime there's a seat change. I actually agree with the escort method with a dedicated 2/5 floor taking players directly to their seats as the best way. Simple and easy, but only works if there's a very strict and consistent adherence process. This works flawlessly at Borgata and Commerce. No need to reinvent the wheel - just copy best practices from the industry leaders.

Cross posting re: homerdash, who I know is from MD originally, went busto in Vegas and is causing drama in LVL. Just want to bring it to the attention of MD people since he is likely headed back that way and may be looking for housing/staking in the area. Stay away from this guy - he's broke and mentally unstable.

Disappointed to read that the seat card solution is taking a back seat for now.

The issue from the start has been that a decent number of the floors / dealers / regs were all initially chopped from the same big group of local folks. Now I'm obviously not saying they all knew/know each other. But many of them worked together, dealt together, lived together, played together both in casinos or home games etc. Or they continue to. And the dealers and floors have shown that they just have no interest or motivation to enforce this on their own especially against people that they may know.

But once you start with that premise - and you add on two full years of virtually zero enforcement - its disappointing to see a real solution being delayed further.

I find it puzzling that there has been little, if any, promotion for the $500 $50k guarantee tournament coming up this week. It seems that it would be so easy to put something out on Twitter, Bravo, this forum, and make an occasional announcement in the room to boost attendance. The $50k will take 350+ entries to cover. I hope they smash it but that seems unlikely. I'd like to see this go regularly.

All of those references to $50k should read $150k. Whoops.

Guy at my table just got a 24 hour ban for sitting without checking in. Had been sitting for maybe 5 minutes.

Just walked in and saw a reg I know already playing 2/5. Twenty minutes later, his name (last initial and everything) was flashing at the top of the list. The chances this happened without him having jumped the list are nearly zero.

This is the exact thing the current seating system has no way of stopping. Anyone with no qualms about screwing people over can just sit down and play. Zero preventive measures are in place.

He and I are probably the only two people in the building who know what he did.

Sure but if you get a 24 hour ban for doing it (as is being reported), even getting caught 5% of the time is going to be often enough that even if that isnt enough of a deterrant, once youve been caught 3-4 times, the floor will start to remember you and look out for it.

My question is, exactly how is the 24 ban actually enforced?
A floor is there for 8 hours. And even if they tie the ban to the card the person might not swipe in next time. They’d have to verbally pass it along to the next floor who then had to remember and constantly look out for that banned player on that day.

What’s to prevent the person from coming back in 12 hours and playing?
The honor system? (They already broke it)
The inconvenience? (maybe, but a degen is a degen)

So basically the ban requires:
A. The floor to notice (didn’t happen in Rod’s case)
B. The floor to enforce (definitely doesn’t happen in all cases.)
C. The cheater to honor the ban (????)

Seat cards removes every step/question from this process.
But it’s a little inconvenient so let’s keep pushing it out and not implement it.

Post post edit: for the record a floor/anyone walking the player to the seat would also work perfectly fine.

I just feel at this point a few players have gotten so used to line cutting (having done it all the time and gotten away with it) a serious change is necessary in “tone from the top”/procedure to inform them that it’s not OK and actually prevent them from doing it.

Has there ever been an announcement over the mic in the poker room regarding the punishment for line cutters?

Means the whole region is going to be packed. I’m bracing for a 30-40% rent increase in Tyson’s.

Table 3 seat 5 sat down without being called and got his first buy at the table while cracking a joke with the dealer.

I know this player and he wasn’t on the list. He is a well known reg. He was wandering around the room checking out tables before deciding to sit down. After he sat down I looked to see if anyone was called on the list and that was not the case.

Just saw a line-jumper get caught red-handed, table 9 seat 1, at 8:25pm Wed. 2 floors at front podium saw it. They made him get up and get on the list, but nothing else. Where's the stern warning?

How about a 24 hour ban? This should be a zero tolerance infraction.

This should not be zero tolerance. Everyone here is an experienced poker player so we look at it from our eyes....

But a new player unfamiliar with poker ... Maybe an experienced blackjack player .... Doesn't necessarily know that you can't just walk in and sit at any empty seat like you can out in the pits.

So if you you want to crack down on an experienced player who does it ... Well that makes sense ..... But there is no need to ban a brand new player , just explain to him how it works...

That's fine. In that case a ban is warranted. But zero tolerance isnt the way to go.

Okay, so do some due diligence and find out if it's a reg or repeat customer. If so, zero tolerance. Better?
