Air quality is a lot better now. Not ideal but that's probably all the smoke caked into the room surfaces from before.

Totally disagree, I’m on 41 right now and the kitchen smoke smell from Snacks is brutal.

Princess on a pea.

Or maybe you just don't remember how bad it was in August?

Did a 5 hr session today on the raised podium area, which would have been near impossible before.

Why wouldn’t you call it anyway? If I’m in a 1-3 game waiting to play PLO I’m still ‘live’. It does get frustrating to wait hours for a seat with open seating at other games.

Prior to calling a game like that, we would typically check with players to see if they want the seat... instead of calling the list.

I play 4-5x a week all in the high stakes area and have since the room opened. I remember all too well what it was like in August because it is the exact same now. I played a 15 minute session yesterday when the action was good and left because I couldn’t stop coughing.

You know the backup at the cage is bad when the chip runner waiting behind me says out loud "this is F***'n ridiculous "

Johnny - please pass this message on to the cage manager:

Friday nights and Saturdays are the busiest days of the week in the poker room. Please schedule accordingly. Thank you.

I heard a rumor you might be considering spreading short deck (six plus) holdem. Any truth to this? If so, would you be considering the variant where a set beats a straight, or where a straight beats a set?

We have submitted to the state to spread short deck. It will be spread with the same rules used by Bellagio and Aria. Like most poker games, it will be spread with hand rankings where the probability of a making a specific hand is inversely proportional to the strength of the hand. See the chart below for reference.

count fraction cumulative
straight flush 24 0.00006366 0.00006366
quads 288 0.00076394 0.00082760
flush 480 0.00127324 0.00668449
boat 1728 0.00458365 0.00541126
straight 6120 0.01623377 0.02291826
trips 16128 0.04278075 0.06569901
2 pair 36288 0.09625668 0.16195569
1 pair 193536 0.51336898 0.67532468
high card 122400 0.32467532 1.00000000
total 376992

Not sure whats going on specifically but this goes back to day 1 in the original room when we would sit on table 30 with 3 open seats, a full list for 1-2 PLO and absolutely no traction for like 20-30 minutes at a time.

Can the Poker room management make an effort to adopt the normal “Run it Twice” conditions? MD Live changed their rules months ago so it’s not a state regulation issue.

So the best flush is 7-high?

Johnny, I've been seeing the "first buy in at the cage" rule being broken on a regular basis. Often times, it's by regulars who I'm certain know the rules. I'll see the regular standing around waiting for a seat. When they get called, they'll sit down and try to buy in at the table. The dealer will tell them "first buy-in has to be at the cage" and the regular will lie and say they came from another table. There's nothing a dealer can do short of calling the regular a liar and risk causing a commotion. The dealer thus has no choice but to hold up the game to sell the chips to the liar.

I'd like to make a suggestion to require all new players at any table (even if they "came from another table") to buy in at the cage. Most game jumpers/table changers have chips with them anyway so this modification will mainly just stop the people who cheat the rule.

No. There is no such thing as a 7 high flush in short Deck.

This is exciting. (Also for those who dont know, flush over boat has been the standard short deck rules for a while)

More accurate version of the joke is “so high card beats 1 pair?”

Hahaha. Humor typically doesn’t come through well in the forum. I really struggled with that....

When/if MGMNH starts running this, will it be antes/double antes or blinds? Cash, tourneys, or both?

I’d like to buy in at the front desk.

Johnny,

What time does the $1100 Five Diamond Step 2 satellite begin on Saturday, Nov 10? I can't find anything online.

Thanks

Depends on Demand. Will likely try it as a blind game and make a change if that doesn't work.
