Loving the new room, you've done a great job Johnny. Taking it all in and talking to a bunch of players and dealers here are the two main suggestions I'd offer at this point:

1) It's hot up here. Most dealers are uncomfortable and complaining about it. Hopefully this is a simple fix.

2) The lights at the bar are super blinding bright. Can they somehow dim or cover up that strip on the left?

Ambient temp was dropped 2 degrees yesterday and we will see how that helps. The lights at the bar should be fixed within a day or 2. We are already on it.

True on gaming taxes. We also have sales tax, room tax, and on and on and on... true number closer to 30 mil than 23. Our building is the biggest taxpayer in the state of Maryland....

MGM does not have my sympathy. If taxes outweighed profit, they would have let another corporation have the last MD gaming license.

Sales and room tax is collected from customers and then forwarded to Maryland.

Can’t argue that. Was trying to point out that what we bring in isn’t what we keep.

That's how all taxes work.

Johnny - any chance photos of the new room could be posted here or the MGMNH Poker twitter account?

One is posted. There’s a Washington postbarticle about it. Follow our twitter feed and I will retweet it.

FYI for people with lockboxes:

Seems that what you gotta do is go to the old poker room, clean your box out, you get some sort of receipt that your old box was cleaned out, go upstairs, give them the receipt from downstairs, and you gotta pick a new number (301 to like 535 or 635 or so I think)

So if you care what number you are do it earlier.

There is a video at the beginning of this page that shows the poker room:

Better photos could be taken from the inside of the room.

Spent about 9 hours playing 5-card today. Notes on the new room:
  • Having extra tables is a big plus, and will be especially appreciated on weekends.
  • Tables seem a little cramped. Not terrible though.
  • Having six raised higher-limit tables instead of two is a really nice jump.
  • I'm a big fan of having the food station SO close by. Pretty wide selection too.
  • There should be steps that lead down directly to the food station from the raised tables area - a dealer told me that it's planned.
  • Someone REALLY ****ed up with the bathrooms design. Four urinals and two handicap stalls for men's room? I heard the women's room is fine (i.e. well-proportioned). I might end up just going downstairs.
  • It was a little warm overall, but not too bad.
  • I think frosted glass would've been a better choice for the nosebleed room. It's a little too closed off right now, IMO. I heard it's even warmer in there too. There should be a sign that gives that room distinction. Could use some decorations in there too.
  • The #1 thing I was hoping for was to be away from the slots. I was really disappointed to see slot machines right next to the tables, but honestly I don't think it's that bad. Less machines, less traffic, and they aren't particularly loud/annoying (no YEAH BABY!), so I think it's an improvement.

Overall I'm pretty happy.

Hey Johnny,

I know you've been busy but I'm still not seeing the Sunday tournament results on hendon mob. New room looks great btw, great job with that.

Thanks, Johnny. I much prefer Omaha, as well as MGM, so if you guys can get the waitlists down I'll be a new regular.

FWIW, the property up the road seems to have a good system with all PLO games as time rake, and anytime the list gets to six people they'll usually try to open up a new must-move.

Going to time rake is the plan here. It will happen within a couple of months.

Was planning on completing them over the weekend, but obviously had bigger fish to fry.

Not sure where you get info from but it’s all very spot on (except we have 8 tables on the raised platform plus 2 in the semi private salon)

Nice job on the new room. It's great! Only suggestion I have is either adding table number signage or putting a diagram on a wall somewhere. It's very confusing and not as easy to just count like the old room.

Starting at the front of the room, there are three columns of tables. The first column on the left is tables 1 through 12. Center column includes Tables 13 through 25. The third column which is on the right includes table numbers 26 through 38. There are additional tables in the high-limit area.

These numbers could be off by 1 or 2. But this is the way that it has been explained to me.

Just talking with other players and dealers.

One other thing I forgot to mention: it's VERY subtle, but I think the lighting is SLIGHTLY dimmer than it was downstairs. I like that a lot. A slightly dimmer atmosphere promotes a more intimate game, and is less draining for long sessions.
