In PLO this typically is done in games where they want to require the bets to in $5 increments so you make it $5 to call .
Maybe the right terminology shouldn't be "bring in" but instead "$5 to open"?

You cannot open the betting less than $5. I agree that "bring in" refers to a forced bet as in stud. If everyone folds to the blinds, no open (and therefore no "bring in") happens, and the BB takes the pot (I'm assuming, disclaimer: not a pro.)

There is no reason "bring in" can't have different meanings in different types of games.

Not at all the same as a 3 blind game. A 3 blind game has 3 forced bets. The bring in isn't forced - theoretically everyone can fold and the BB get's the SB.

At least $1/2 $5 bring in is more clear than $1/2/5 as it's often stylized, which makes new players (myself included when I first came across it) think it's a 3 blind game and higher stakes game than it actually is. I think for the purpose of Bravo, $1/2 PLO is plenty sufficient, with no qualifier.

Can’t wait for the new room. Hopefully 1/3 doesn’t take up 90% of the those tables too. I kid I kid.

It will probably take up about half of the new room... currently, it peaks at about 24-25 games ....

The waits are why I only play here when I can before 8am on the weekends and never weeknights after work. Good problem to have I guess.

If I do the math, that means the new room will have 48 to 50 tables?

Johnny,

I really think the Sunday tourney should have a 30 or 45 minute dinner break.

Please reconsider.

Thanks

I am of the opposite opinion: if I'm playing poker, I have no interest in sitting around for 30-45 minutes not playing poker.

You play that tournament?

I haven't played the Sunday tournament yet and adding a break that's more than 15 minutes would make me less likely to play it in the future. I have played other tournaments @ MGM. I wouldn't want more than a 15-minute break during any tournament I'm playing. There's food service available in the room and the restrooms are fairly close, so there's no need to have long breaks.

The Sunday tournament typically runs about twice as long as the daily events. It's not uncommon for it to go 12 hours. That's kind of a long time to go without a break.

There's not even a single a break during that tournament? That's a much different situation than you described originally. I'd want a 10- or 15-minute break probably two or three times during a 12-hour tournament. I'd think that the staff easily could give a little time at least during chip-ups.

Rapini, you're being purposefully daft. Why? Yes, of course there are breaks. Do you really think there's a 12 hour tournament with no breaks at all? He obviously meant that there is no break long enough to go get food.

That sounds fine then with the ability to get food service in-room.

that ability is only available to those with accrued comps and/or debit/credit card.

The food service is less than ideal and I don't want to eat at the table anyway. But the break is about more than just food. It's also nice to be able to rest your mind away from the table for a little while.
