Ever been to Florida or Nevada?
I play in Florida every day and I played over 40 hours in 5 days at MGM a couple months ago. The MGM games are MUCH softer except for about 10-12 weeks during winter when the snowbirds are here.

Nevada??? Poker in Vegas is awful. Games are terrible and have gone downhill for years now. Ain’t what it used to be. Venetian is garbage now and no action and raised their rake. Ever check bravo too? Venetian used to crush r now they are just another card room. I lived there and moved bc the action is just so dry. Action at MGMNH is much better than any Vegas casino.

What is the official rule at MGM about showing cards when you are heads up in a cash game with action pending? Is it different at Horseshoe or MDL?

you cant show. Although your hand doesnt become dead or anything, I think the protocol is basically the floor comes over and gives you a warning, but it may not be particularly harshly enforced.

Sorry if it's been brought up before but about 30% of all the chairs in the room are semi broken and there is no resistance/support when you lean back.

That has nothing to do with my post. My post is about finding good action and games which Nevada is lacking. Rake is everywhere. Venetian was one of the few that was still $4 rake, then joined the rest at $5 rake. MGMNH has much better action. There was a guy with over $4k at the $1/3 game yesterday. Never find that good action in vegas.

Yeah my table had about 10k on it on Saturday.

One guy had nearly 3k when I sat down, I doubled him up a few hours later when he had ~$130 left, he got back up to $2500 a few hours later and had $150 when I left. Needless to say, chips were flying.

YES! This is seriously one of my number 1 issues with the room. I do not have back problems, but I notice even on my longer sessions I have lower back pain if I get a bad chair. I even focus on my posture and there is nothing I can do other than find a non broken chair.

Drink service has been better the past few times. Definitely seem to be more cocktail waitresses working.

It never ceases to amaze me though how rude some of the players are to the servers. A guy at my table almost made a waitress cry yesterday because she forgot to bring him a coke. She came back with two cokes and apologized, and he started yelling at her again, saying he only needed one coke and doesn't understand why she would bring two. I feel like there is almost always one guy at my table that just berates the servers, and being a former server it puts me on major tilt.

I hate hearing this. IMO guys like this should be kicked out of the room and given a 24 hour ban. Its (apparently) hard for them to hire people to the job, they shouldnt be dealing with over the top abuse. No reason the floors couldnt be given that sort of latitude. That kind of crap gives players a bad reputation and is terrible for the game.

Joe, Your sources are not very reliable. I was there all day today. Still no coffee.....

Had to wait about 45 minutes today and an hour Saturday morning before I even saw a waitress. Service seems to be better in the afternoon and evenings but has been terrible the past few mornings I've been there. I really miss the days of self serve coffee. I really hope there are plans to bring coffee back to the new room.

Spoke with the vendor today. The button panels on the machines were fried. The parts have been ordered and will be installed within 3/4 days.

Waiting that long will delay your progress to OMC, keep working at it though.

The bellyaching over free self-serve coffee is a testament to how great a room Johnny runs. I'm really looking forward to seeing what improvements the new room has in store in a couple months.

Agree completely. However, here's a gripe that's really tilting me. Johnny, some of your dealers need to be retrained on the absolute basics of poker. Like poker dealer school 101 stuff. So far today I've had two dealers not capable of moving the button properly. One somehow moved it from the 10 seat to the 5 seat in a full game. Another just didn't move it at all then argued with me about it. The palyers shouldn't have to focus intently on if the dealer is dealing in the correct order. I can go to a home game with no rake if I want to worry about that.

ETA: make that 3 dealers today. And this is just one example of very simple procedure/rule stuff I see messed up regularly.

Saw a conflict the other day that could have been completely prevented by lammers.

Player 1 loses a hand and has $145 left. He adds on - chip runner takes $240 cash from him, says he's $240 behind, then goes to retrieve the chips.

New dealer sits down. Player 1 straddles.

Bunch of limps for $10. Player 1 slides his stack in and says all-in. Player 2 tanks and asks dealer for a count. The dealer counts the stack out and says "145 to call." Player 2 calls and puts $145 in the middle. Folds around.

Dealer runs the board out, players show down, Player 1 wins. Dealer slides the pot to Player 1. As Player 1 is raking in the pot, he says "you know I was 240 more behind right?" Chaos ensues.

Props to the floor/room/casino for resolving the issue by paying the $240 out of their own pockets, but this issue would be preventable and/or easily resolved by simply using lammers. I get that they announce what a player has behind, but maybe not everyone is at the table at the time, and even if they are, sometimes chip runners take awhile during peak times. It seems like a needless burden to place on players/dealers to remember who has what behind when there is no visual indicator and when sometimes multiple players will be waiting for chips.

Does Player 1 have no obligation to correct the dealer’s misstatement? Smells like angle shooting if he willfully let this slide.
