Yes. Trying to figure out ways to nudge the usual suspects higher in stakes...

The mimosas are $10 each? For cheap Champaign? We can get mixed drinks for cheaper than that here!

A casino overcharged for something? I'm shocked.

BTW $10 isn't really unreasonable compared to bars/restaurants in the region.

MGM has improved their drink prices significantly. I agree, I think a $10 mimosa is pretty standard for the DMV.

It's half cheap champagne and OJ. The grey goose is cheaper. The mimosa should be $6 - $7.

They should hire you to run their food and beverage department because clearly they have no idea how to run a business.

Lol, beers are $8 or $9 at the poker table, I cant imagine the same place charging less for a mimosa.

They have a license to print money - and I would never buy a mimosa there again. (and I highly doubt any one would ether at that price unless they were uninformed like I was or wasted) I'm sure they have enough wealthy people that they can get away with it, but it's still crummy.

I would however buy a beer.

The reason you all disagree about the price of beer, and most people don’t realize this (I myself didn’t until recently), is that MGM raises the price of drinks by a dollar or two on the weekends as opposed to the weekday price. It’s a good thing to be aware of if you’re planning to order a cocktail.

JG - with the govt shutdown in effect now are arrangements being made to have a reasonable amount of dealers on hand maybe earlier than typical on Monday morning/afternoon? With...100s of thousands of folks out of work (at least as of now) I'd bet more than a few are going to want to play on Monday and I know its normally shorter staffed until the afternoon.

Johnny - Are you aware of the ongoing issue with the emergency exit next to Table 26? Since opening, the door has never been sealed, and there is a constant breeze in the winter (in spite of the "velvet rope" solution).

Clearly, it's not good for anyone. Players are extremely uncomfortable, and I'm sure it's costing MGM significantly to keep pumping heat. It seems like such an easy fix to seal the door.

I spoke with our engineering team last Tuesday and we have a solution coming for the issue. They are adding additional weather stripping to all the doors along the back wall. It wont be a perfect fix, but should drastically improve the temperature in the room. This is a contributing factor as to why the room is uncomfortably hot up front and chilly in the back.

This issue has been addressed. We should see significant improvement for all days going forward. Apologies for the issue...

Great to hear (no pun intended). Those announcements really had a negative effect on the 30-60 LHE game I organized last Monday because we couldn't talk to each other easily and it sort of killed the vibe of a fun and friendly game.

Thank you for the reply and the solution!

5-5 PLO game was off the rails last night. 5-5-10 straddle and 2 $20 rocks.

That being said, after the last month or so, forced to admit that the 5 card games have just about crushed the 5-5 PLO games. Played 4 or 5 handed for the first 5 hours, then the game broke, then picked up an hour later. Meanwhile, 5-5 5 card had two tables and a long list at 2p. Its not my thing but its clear that a lot more people would rather play it than not.

FWIW dealers are saying now that the new room only has 46 new tables in it.

Also saw what looked to be two engineers/facilities guys testing the entrance ticket machines on P3 in the afternoon. Wasnt clear what they were doing but the other machine was under black wrap.

More data points to add to the "overheard a dealer" category on the move to upstairs. One dealer mentioned that they are putting in a new escalator. Could the recently walled off area to the left when you enter the casino floor from the garage side be where this escalator is going? That would actually be pretty fantastic if there was a very visible grand escalator entrance right there with good signage. That would be way better than having to exit the gaming floor to find the poker room. After having to spend 30 minutes at a table by the cashier yesterday, I'm actually looking forward to a room without insanely obnoxious slot noise right next to the poker tables.

Hadn’t even thought of that. That would be awesome.

Here to check off the monthly grumbling about food runners from the 2+2 thread requirements list. It's crazy that their department only staffs one person for the entire room. At least I'm assuming they staffed one person, but I can't confirm as I legitimately have not seen one in about two hours.
