Instead of relying on someone else, you can bring your own charging ports very inexpensively:

something i found interesting in a recent WaPo article, the casino is no longer owned by MGM itself but its new real estate holding firm.

Doubt we’ll get a comment but if both sides have to confirm money and logistics and necessity and everything else of repairing problems with the building, there could easily be one of a million conflicts holding it up.

OTOH played last 3 days and compliments to the room itself, all poker staff was great and food & beverage service seemed decent

I dont think this really has anything to do with anything tbh. My understanding at the time was that this was an "accounting move" more than anything, the MGM books get completely cleared of the debt and moved over the MGP - the holding company. Doesnt seem to be an unusual move, MGP owns a half dozen of their Vegas properties as well as the Borgata.

It's not exactly the same situation as someone trying to get the landlord of their studio apartment to fix the toilet.

MGM Resorts International technically no longer owns MGM National Harbor. In September, it sold the property for $1.9 billion to MGM Growth Properties, a separate, publicly-traded company created to hold MGM’s real estate properties.

MGM Resorts now leases the property from MGM Growth Properties, though MGM Resorts holds a majority stake in MGM Growth Properties.

The parking garage at MGM has designated parking for electric cars to use when charging. Signs clearly state the restriction, but I routinely see non-electric cars parked in these spots, as well as electric cars which aren't plugged in. Nothing is done about it. Today I asked to speak to someone to discuss this. I waited about 15 minutes for a "supervisor" who never came, then I was escorted to a spot to wait another 8-10 minutes. The person I spoke to was with security and told me that they don't do parking enforcement. I asked to speak to someone with that job description and I was told there isn't anyone. I asked if those spots are available for general parking and I got a shrug and "I guess so."

Pretty annoying when you need the spot and it's occupied by a car that can't use the charger.

W0X0F,

I've noticed this issue as well. What floor were you on? There is usually an open charger on the first floor.

This is awesome. I'm going to start parking in the front row

I'd be happy to see the loony-mobile parked there. At least I'd know that a skilled musician has finally caught a break.

I park in the "reserved for fuel efficient cars" spot all the time because I drive a smaller car, albeit not a hybrid but there is no way they are going to look up fuel economy on every car parked in that spot. Maybe if someone parked a truck there they would actually tow it.

I'm talking about the spots with chargers, not the ones simply for fuel efficient cars. The signs are different.

Yeah I know what you meant. Parking there without an electric car is obnoxious, and since it costs money to charge I would think MGM/the owner of the charger would want to enforce those spots.

If they aren't enforcing electric only parking, I would have zero issue parking my full sized V-8 pickup in a fuel efficient spot. Unless they have defined and shared what fuel efficient means what could they do? Heck compared to my truck from 20 yrs ago this one is fuel efficient.

Frankly other than handicapped spots (and compact only spots that will only fit compacts) I am not much of a fan in segregating parking. Handicap sure and I completely respect that. Even when I had a still valid but no longer needed temp tag, I did not use Hcap. I am fine with VIP parking as a perk they can choose to give out. But others just seem silly.

Fuel efficient spots seem silly to me. Electric spots I'm ok with. If they want to provide the courtesy of a handful of chargers, what's the point of putting them at non-reserved spots when there's a 95% (?) chance a non-electric vehicle will park there.

I think MGM only included the special spots to get certified as a “green” building or whatever that’s called.

They should have put the spots in the back. If they claim to have charging spots they should enforce them, but I don’t think I deserve a front row spot just because I need to charge. I agree the fuel efficient spots are useless but having car charging is a nice amenity.

I complained in May and they said they were working on clearer signage and then they could tow. I complained in the fall again and they said they have another signage project to finish first (pay parking).

FYI, they don’t charge for charging. I wouldn’t mind paying if it meant the spots were available but right now it’s free.

I’ve seen the oldest most busted cars parked in those spots most every time.

I've noticed something similar for the car charging spots. The cars that seem to block the charging spots the most are big Mercedes, SUV's, etc. to a great extent more than the average casino customer. I wonder if some of it is a dislike for electric cars in general and some folks are intentionally blocking.

However, regardless of the reason, if MGM says it has car charging, then I think they have a responsibility to do something to be sure there is actually car charging.

MGM's response in late October:
We do take pride in being an energy efficient facility and sincerely strive to provide our guests with access to the charging stations for this reason. As you know, we have been working with our partner company that manages our parking structure to make improvements in many areas of the garage. While some of these changes have been noticeable already, we do regret that changes have not been made to the charging stations. While I do not have a timeline to share, please know that the ongoing improvements to the garage will take many more months to complete. Unfortunately, I cannot guarantee a particular solution, but I can guarantee that we will continue to address your concerns with our partners in hopes that we are able to make the changes that you would like to see.

MGM's May response:
We strive to provide a monumental experience to all guests and it is never acceptable when we fall short. We regret to hear that electric car parking spaces were occupied by non-electric cars. Please know we are aware of this service shortfall. We are working diligently to improve our ability to warn the guest that are parking in those spots that they will be towed. We are looking into better signage and will begin to put notes on the offenders’ cars. We apologize we did not meet your expectations. We can understand your frustration and we already shared this feedback with the parking management team. Here at MGM National Harbor we care about all guests who walk through our doors.
Your feedback is critical and we thank you again for sharing your experience with us.
Please let us know if we may be of assistance in the future.

I completely agree. I'd be happy to have them available even if they were at the farthest point from the elevators. Then, at least the spots wouldn't be poached by ICEs.

Johnny, please remind your dealers that they should count down stacks at some point during an all in. I’ve seen it twice in the past two days where two players would be all in, the shorter stack would win and the dealer would push the entire larger stack to the winner
