I manage in retail grocery in this area, and we can only pay as much as the pay scales allow. I can't just "pay the cashiers more". With the very high cost of living in the area, it's extremely difficult to find qualified help for these types of jobs, and like Johnny mentioned, the turnover is very high. Then the process of interviewing, hiring and training new ones is time consuming, but is a continual process when many fail to work out.
"hire more food runners"
"demand is low"
"pay more"
2+3 "pay rate is already decided based on demand!"

also the fact that you dont have authority to successfully do your job doesnt mean every workplace is like that.

Casino was nuts today. Promo is so good.

So today the 9:15 AM drawing only had 4/8 and 2/5, not 1/3. Management looked into it and confirmed, and did a freerolled drawing for just 1/3 at 9:45 AMish. The table that hit had a guy who wasnt around for the 9:45 AM drawing, but management confirmed he was at the table when the drawing shouldve happened at 9:15 and paid him out. This was so well managed top to bottom, makes me happy to be at a well run casino.

The Hostile work environment comment is a joke, and is a strong statement if u have no backing of this

Another thing is at what point are some of you posters on here gonna start appreciating what this guy does for the player base here?
Read for comprehension. Dmoogle did not make any accusation. He said high turnover has a cause. And it does. He also listed some but not all of those causes. He did not say or imply anything about JG as a boss. He did not say there was a hostile work environment. Only listed it as one of several possibilities. The fact is high turnover rates are a means of sending a message.

Strange little interaction with a dealer yesterday.

On the flop (4 ways) I bet and everyone folds. Like a good 2p2er I hold out my cards waiting for the dealer to push me the pot. The dealer is just sitting there. I said "Can I have the pot?" and he responds "Can I have the cards?". I say "Sure push me the pot and I'll give you the cards" to which he says something like "I'll give you the pot when you give me the cards".

My response is "That's not how it works. You give me the pot and THEN I give you the cards. Call a floor if you like." He kinda shrugs and pushes the pot and I toss in my cards and he says something like "I'm supposed to verify that you have 2 cards". I just let it go and move on. A couple hands later he says "You know I think you were right". I even said "If you find I don't have 2 cards what are you supposed to do? I'm the only one with a hand?"

The funny part is a few minutes after he pushed out he comes back to the table and says "Yeah I checked with a supervisor and you were right".

Odd little procedural thing I've never seen a dealer mix up before but glad the guy learned something and was willing to admit his error.

If you don't have 2 cards, the pot goes to someone else other than you, regardless if you're the last one with a "live" hand, because your hand isn't live.

But agreed, he should push you the pot first. Unless it somehow becomes obvious to him that you give him something other than 2 cards, he shouldn't even bother checking unless you table your hand first.

Can Johnny or someone explain the Tournament freeroll "promotion?"

What are the starting days/time of the freerolls? Is there 1 or 4 a a month?

How many people qualify each time? Is it based on weekly or monthly results?

I am interested in playing some tournaments if the freerolls add value, just don't completely understand the structure of August freerolls.

TY!

I tried searching the thread but I failed miserably. Anyone know if we can use poker comps in the restaurants (Fish, Voltaggio, etc.)?

You can. Johnny has said you can use it at any of the restaurants. I've personally used them at Voltaggio.

Last weekend I overheard a couple of people talking about a $99 room promotion at the Gaylord for mlife members. Anyone know anything about it?

A lot of people receive an email every now and then for free or discounted rooms, so keep an eye on your emails.

All info is on our website. Look at the leaderboard box, and on the left there's a small > sign. Click that.... it gives detailed explanations.

I have received that offer. It is all inclusive for $99 and includes $10 freeplay.

Valid for 8/4-5 , 8/18-19 and 8/25-26 . I only play about two or three time monthly there. I suspect I'm getting the offer due to the fact my wife plays slots and is quickly being added to the preferred loser list, as she is now getting comped rooms occasionally.

Thanks. Do you book directly with the Gaylord or through MGM?

I haven't received the offer, but am not against trying to get that rate by calling anyway.
